Thoughts on fourth gen Camaro? I like them a hell of a lot better than the mustang at that time. To me they still looking good in 2017

They look like a wedge of cheese going down the road but I'd drive one cause the LS1+T56
Very good cars. LT1 has some quirks but LS1 is god tier. Strong manual transmissions. Double wishbone front suspension IIRC. Pretty good rear suspension geometry.
Something to be aware of is the huge amounts of body roll
Bone stock 98 ss, almost no body roll..
Fucking what!?
I think cars from that era looked ugly and cheap, but that generation Camaro somehow looks very nice to me while also showing many if not every characteristic of American cars from that era. I also find the Talon pleasing.
>body roll
It's the generic knock on cars you don't like. Just ignore 'em
Regardless of being true or not, sway bars are easy to change.
I'd rather have a turd gen. Unironically.
Fun fact if you want to know what it’s like driving a vt-vz SS Ute they feel identical with the ls1 and t56
Give it another 15 to 20 years and people are going to be drooling over them and paying big bucks for unmolested models. They have a trailer park racer image that they're still too new-old to have shaken.
this is literally one of the best cars to start with if you want a straight line vehicle on a budget
Idk I think the IROC looks pretty sweet sometimes
I have a guy trying to sell me a 94 Camaro 3.4L. He says the only thing wrong is the engine has a misfire, the convertible top has a small leak and the exhaust is disconnected premuffler.
Is $250 worth it?
3.4 is pretty terrible. not as bad as 3.1 really for $250 you can't go wrong because that's what it would go for if you junked it. if you think you would ever consider swapping it make sure you understand you will need to swap all the suspension bits as well because the v6 stuff cant handle the v8 weight.

Posting the superior 4th gen
Just sold a 01 3800 that I had for a few years. It was pretty reliable and the t tops were nice to have. Only paid $500 so I got more than my money's worth. Sucked a bit to work on with the engine shoved so far under the firewall.
Looked at getting an LS1/T56 model when I was recently searching for a DD but it was tough to find a decent one. Plenty for sale under $10k but they were beat on, clearly abused, poorly modded, crazy high mileage, or salvage title. I did come across 2 with very low mileage and near stock, but I wasn't paying $20k for a nearly 20 year old Camaro.
lol you sick fuck
I read your post and busted out laughing
...
Good to know. Thanks for the advice.
Get a turd gen and swap in an LS1+T56, you'll have a fast car that isn't fucking ugly like a catfish """""Camaro"""""
So does a new Miata
or build a 350 with more hp than a ls for cheaper and mate to t56
Are there any good fuel injection setups with standalone ecus for SBCs? I would want to do a 350 but i don't want to go carbed since modern fuel lacks the anti-boilover additives. My carbed turd gen boils the fuel in the float bowl after a bit of traffic and has absolutely zero power afterwards because the fuel needs to be liquid to go through the jets and atomize properly. Have to pull over and let it cool off.
How would a fourth gen camaro/trans am do against a c4 in autocross?
probably get shit on.
t. camaro owner
Some light suspension upgrades and you'll dominate it.
My dad has a 94 camaro that's been sitting for like 4 years and needs some work. One day we were shooting the shit and he said if I wanted to do an LS swap hed donate it. Makes me wonder if I should take him up on that offer
I think its a big boat. The new Camaro is a miracle.
A 2002 SS weighs 300 pounds less than a 2016 SS
I like them. Especially the ram air trans am. Absolutely beautiful car. LS1 was super reliable. But they do go for twice as much as a new edge, not that much better imo.
Too bad they took a break once you could get a 390 rwhp stang with IRS for the same price
>Too bad they took a break once you could get a 390 rwhp stang with IRS for the same price
Other way around. Ford finally figured out how to beat the ls camaro after they stopped making them.
Don't need a LS swap. If the engine is in good shape just do heads and cam. Hell, just leave the engine alone and focus on brakes/suspension.
A 2003 Mustang Cobra started at $38,995.
A 2002 Camaro Z28 was $22,830. A 2003 Lancer Evolution was $28,995
They were never the same price. A regular GT was the same price. The Cobra was $15,000 more than a Z28 and $10,000 more than a Evo VIII.
The Catfish Camaro and New Edge Mustang were arguably the last designs in those model lines to try something new instead of just being lazily styled fake retro cash-ins.
this sadly. Im generally a mustang person, but 4th gen camaros can be really cool
Megasquirt seems to be the go to, you can put that shit on damn near anything
