They write programs. Lower level simulations can't affect higher level ones, though if the intent of a lower level simulation is to simulate as closely as possible the higher level one (with some quantum magic to make it so the universe can contain an amount of info that approaches or equals its own), and the higher level simulation isn't the topmost one, a change the lower level simulation does will probably be replicated by the higher level simulation.

Unless the Myroid writes a simulation in which people in that simulation are pretty much like people in our level of the simulation and therefore have Myroids, and then somehow the Myroid induces a change in that simulation that changes their Myroids, which if is similar to or exactly like our level of the simulation will mean that a higher level simulation would make that change in our level of the simulation which would therefore change our Myroids tl;dr we're administered by programming Myroids so we should be nice to our myroids because the higher level Myroids can see what we do.
