Got excited after drawing Dark Knight Cecil since he looks cool, turns out he's fucking trash. How are people supposed to use him, 49% hp sacrifice for slightly above average damage? Madness.

Is his TMR worth farming? Damage seems good but I'm not sure how useful dark element is.

I say Rainbow Robe. More BMs past the first are only good if you have multiple attackers and the Ring is actually a little mediocre outside of 100% dodge builds.

Give him time. Soon he'll be one of THE best chainers in the game. Think of it as a long term investment.

He gets way better with enhancements, don't worry. That 49% HP sacrifice skill can be enhanced to deal 750% dark damage and imperil dark by 100%. Also he fully heals at the start of each round when enhanced.

He's the biggest hitting finisher with enhancements.
You're supposed to time your heal between his attacks, which is why he's annoying to use too.

His TM is great if you run with Dark Veritas later, or with Orlandeau you can chain dark when light is resisted.

What qualities am I looking for in a chainer\finisher? I assume chainers want high number of htis and finishers want big damage but am I supposed to be checking the frame data of every attack to see how well they connect? I just rolled some of the best units in the game and my head is spinning a bit.

I spent 50 tickets, getting 3 Nines before I got my first Rikku.
G5 netted me Noctis, and I did a 5K pull on the X banner for a second RIkku.

Is WoL worth using over Cecil? Newshitter here that doesn't understand teambuilding at all.
Also, should I be pulling for Tilith or Rikku? I hear both are insanely good.

Here's the breakdown

Cecil covers ONE unit
WoL covers EVERYONE from AOE damage

As I said, with mithril axe she do less dmg than fina and she do nothing else

Generally yes, unless you need a secondary healing then Cecil is better

eventually for the budget tanks it will be:

Cecil for healing
Charlotte for mp regen
Wol, the standard for breaks and physical cover
Mistair for magic cover

Rikku, sure, her rate isn't terrible and she'll be relevant for a long time. Plus with the free dailies you'll probably get at least one or two before the event ends. For Tilith, you have a better chance of pulling a rainbow but if by some miracle you end up with her she'll be super helpful.

Pull for both, Tilith first since she disappears forever after today. The two of them make an amazing combo with Tilith's full heal and Rikku's auto-revive. WoL is best tank in the game, he does what Cecil and the others can't.

There is no point having a fit over it if you are only a couple of months into the game.

You're supposed to use both until your party gets so crammed that you don't have room for Cecil anymore.

Nobody should have room for Cecil, unless you've got to do the long haul without a chainer.
In fact I'm not certain who goes first to put Enhanced Ramza in, anyway. The finisher?

Depends on what they have at this point in their game. If they are really only two months in, despite all of the LDs we had, there might also be issues with non-relic resources needed for these kinda fights.

You don't really need a finisher, it's just a way to speed up fights.
And if you take out chaining, they do way less damage compared to two chainers by themselves.

Might want to start with Arms Eraser (assuming it works on the target). You might miss out on saving a key unit, but the average total damage decrease is way more.

That's the thing,
For hard shit, you don't use a finisher.
Survivability is the name of the game, finishers are best left to DPS races (which do exist occasionally).

2chainer/1wol/1cecil/1rikku/1tilith is objectively the strongest party in the game right now. The finisher is only there for easy bosses that don't take as much to survive, or for non-evoke missions especially.

Ramza will further drive finishers to the point of obscurity. Sometimes you don't even get two DPS, you just have to use a finisher.

I still don't have anything at 6*, so I'm not in a good way - I was hoping to last minute rush Grand Gaia Chronicles, but I doubt I can get enough crimson ore as I can't do A Champion Ablaze. I have Refia and Y'Shtola as healing options right now, so I guess Cecil until I can get some 6*s going?
If I could just get my Orlandu to 6* I think things might be better, but I still don't have any equipment for my characters that's worth a damn. I'd be in such a better spot if my phone hadn't died on me after getting Y'Shtola from the Titan event right after I'd started playing, and I'd been able to get an emulator to work.

Well on the first turn I'm actually going for a Crush Weapon on Orlandeau (the other sets up the imperil) while WoL does Light with Us. That way I'm fairly safe and the next turn is the real deal.

But that's why I've got trouble with Rikku's TM, I'm not really convinced he has the time to use it in real fights unless I slow down the damage and crush weapon again.
Or I put it on a finisher but the loss in atk is really annoying.

It's mixed by many, like every FF game is. I for one loved it, the Zodiac Job System lets you make interesting parties and the gameplay is fun. It's in my top 3 FF games.

To me it was a step foward in gameplay and a step backwards in characters/story.

Even for nuking shit (like the moose), you want buffers in there too.
And that only applies to a small minority of trials (but works for the harder story bosses)

so am i missing something about this spherimorph fight? It says that it will switch elemental resistances when hit with his current weakness...but, he never stays weak to the element when it switches back to my turn and im barely scratching him in terms of damage. I have Zyrus and Freyvia and a friendlando. Trying to use flare so he uses fire then makes him weak to ice then i can use flower blitz, but the weakness just dissapears when my turn starts.

For the XP yeah you get quite a lot of cactuars, and materials such as sacred crystals and 6* stuff (but usually not enough to awaken, you have to rely on farming events for that).
At least you can get your whole team to 5*.

It's a little unfocused. Has a nice look and a nice combat system and some nice ideas, some nice battles, but the story, the progression, the characters, the world have a lot of dots and never really get connected in a satisfactory way.

Too much influence from MMOs if you ask me.
