What's a good Position 4 class for Leper, Leper, Occultist +1? I've been using Vestal for the party heal, stun, light and Judgment being pretty efficient single-target overall, but is there another option I should consider?

Having double Hew + better-than-Vestal self-healing on everyone is just really convenient for consistency so far.

Maybe plague doctor to stun/blight the backranks?

I atmost kill him, my HM miss the stun.

He got away with 16 hp but at least I got my trinkets (I lost the HM tho)

So I went into the courtyard pretty early because I was getting annoyed at the stress loss penalty every week, very bad idea. lost 2 and Reynauld got cursed. I've since tried him out a few times and the curse doesn't seem all that bad in small numbers.

How terrible of an idea is it to purposefully infect one or two heroes early on? you don't lose much compared t all the other diseases you could have instead, the speed is nice and having essentially steroids at a moments notice seems really useful.

Just finished darkest dungeon for the first time.
I had to sacrifice my bro bounty hunter, who was with me since the start and killed more than 5 champion bosses but left the retarded leper that was only useful for the final boss because i had no more lvl 6 available.

Just did dd1 for the first time and wiped.

Salty as fuck. Had a crusader hound master arbalest and occultist. Figured I could zerg the boss down but goddamn. Half my roster couldn't do shit for 90% of the fight. Really hate the trial and error style of boss fights in this game.

DD1 is just a shambler fight with lots of stress inbetween. It's your damn fault if you didn't equip the right skills and use the correct party composition against fixed fights

there is no trial and error in darkest dungeon dungeons, and if you head in without accounting for every possible contingency then you should remind yourself

Yeah, its how DD works, you learn from the mistakes.
If you dont want to grind like a mad man just watch good comps for each one so you dont instalose but dont spoil yourself more than that.

there are multiple comps that can beat each boss including all the DD bosses, it's all about accounting for each boss's weakness and complementing your comp's skills with each other, because position 4 leper or position 1 arb is totally going to help you win

Congratulations, you've found the price you pay for having team building matter. Just making it to the boss is a victory in recon.
I'm not sure anyone's recommending this team I built blindly without any red healers, and they did win posthumously.

You start with novice bosses, that can be beaten with most any team comp. From there on out you fight the same bosses once you learn their mechanics and find out what works. If you don't know how to beat the siren after already beating it twice you may just be bad. And after all that experience you should have a good idea of what would work against an unknown enemy.

What works against almost all bosses is a mark party, usually arb/occ/(hm/gr/bh)/ and a frontliner like a maa or hellion depending.

If you take that party to shuffling horror you're going to get butchered.

Plague doctor is auto include but im not sure about the frontliners

MaA, hellion or hwm are ok for front line damage dealing and tanking. Flag may be a stretch unless you buff his bleed chance otherwise he's naught but a backup healer. Occultist can pull the fish shaman but be careful of the groupers raping him in a few hits or one good crit

Clearly this is the game's fault for not holding your hand enough.

Restoration hits before DOT's, so if the victim has a restore and a bleed and their on deaths door they'll be immediate healed then injured back down. Basically saves them 1 DD check per round.

A: Having team composition matter and being able to easily win with any random 4 heros are mutually exclusive

B: Wow! You need to have certain things that your group is good at to beat the Champion Bosses and the Darkest Dungeon! Wow! No one said you need one specific team: there are tons of team compositions that can crush DD1, they just don't involve lepers and arbalests. The boss is called the SHUFFLING horror for a reason. Hell, quadruple crusader can whup the horror's ass.

Abomination is great, Hellions are always great, Occultist is great. Jester, Crusader and Houndmaster are also good to consider since Pelagic Guardians don't trigger stall penalties, so stress healing is useful as heck. Basically you want backline burst, healing, and stress healing. Bounty Hunter is also usable, but my favorite cove team is PD-Occ-Abom-Hel

no, it's best to camp before leaving, remove all stress, unload your loot and go back with the same comp

Nope, everything remains just as you left it. Hallway fights are still able to spawn in explored hallways upon entering them though.
