Playing Fallout 4 without any DLC. I notice my building options are limited. Should I get Wasteland Workshop? Which other DLC do you recommend?

I do not have mods but I might cave in and add some. I know I want to be able to clean up the settlements more.

For PC? Just mod. The Workshop DLCs are a waste. I'm sure there are still Xbone and PS4 mods that would help too.

That doesn't even answer his question. Getting Power Armor within 30 minutes of exiting the vault was a mistake and nobody has to argue why that's the case because it's self evident.

I think I've never enjoyed just exploring and wandering around aimlessly so much in any other game before, but holy shit any time I try to touch the main quest I break out in hives and my nose starts to bleed.

It's difficult to justify my 1,000+ hour playtime on Steam because frankly I can't/won't recommend this game to anyone, but I think I'm... content with just trying to survive in the Commonwealth's inhospitable countryside while taking in the sites.

On "normal" difficulty, I noticed that fusion cores barely get drained. Like it takes a really long time to go through one, so by the time you're through 1 you'll probably have found 4 more in a cache or ammo box or just lying around somewhere. You can, if you'd like, basically start the game in power armor and never ever have to exit it except to like look at certain computer monitors or upgrade your weapons or something.

Even on Survival the fusion core drain is negligible compared to the sheer amount of cores you'll be swimming in even within the first ten levels.

Some people enjoy this kind of instant gratification, though, so that's likely why it's done. Some may argue you can easily acquire power armor at an extremely early point in the game in Fallout 2, but it still requires some meta knowledge of the game world beforehand and is definitely an exploit that you have to go out of your way to accomplish.

Bethesda handing this to you right at the start is like saying "we know you didn't earn this but this is just a playground anyway, so have fun and kick some sand around". Shiny toy for easily distracted individuals, et al.

I have sort of wanted to try making a build entirely around benefiting from power armor right at the start of the game by taking every PA related perk I can just to upgrade and enhance the suit as soon as possible as a personal challenge, but I haven't the energy to actually go through with it, because even on Survival mode all that's doing is trying to put the game right in easy mode as soon as possible.
