Bought this game a week ago and love it. Got a team of 6's now. I've noticed though that they barely survive lvl 5 missions still. Comparing them to some of my B teams I think the composition might just be shit. From rank 1 to 4 I've got
Crusader, Leper, Highwayman, Vestal.

The Crusader feels awkward, not the best tank and neither the best damage dealer. Leper feels a bit stronger. Highwayman feels like trash and Vestal with healing gear aoe healing for 8+ is the only reason these retards survive anything. How do I fix this?

Is the HWM garbage? I'm kind of attached to him and the Crusader since they're my first boys and would like to make him work.

Does rank 1&2 really matter what position they're in? Feels like everything that can hit either can hit the other, and 2 actually feels like he gets more shit than 1.

So let me get this straight; those who have been into the Darkest Dungeon itself give bonus xp to all the parties they join, but they are rather useless as they can only go on lvl 5 missions?

Just take a single low level in with three level sixes. Easily doable if you don't do a long mission

Allright. Not as useful for faster levelling as I originally thought, but at least still usable

pistol shot has crazy crit mod if you seek a good skill for rank 3-4 highwayman, but otherwise you just want him to do duelist advance+point blank shot (or vice versa)
bulwark of faith is actually decent now, and double crusader holy lance strat never gets old

Champ dungeons give more xp anyway, so you can usually get a level 0 to level 3 with one medium mission. (4 if you have ancestors portrait).

your team is really weak to shuffling and you cant kill anything in the back since the HWM has to do it all on his own

best skill the HWM has atm is the duelist's advance since he can hit every rank and the riposte deals good damage while punishing enemy aoe, but since you have 2 guys who must be in rank 1-2 its awkward to use

you could use duelists advance into holy lance, but the crusader being so slow means you wont kill anything before they can act

crusader can support his team and get them off deaths door while a leper mostly focuses on himself

Remember that you can retreat and play carefully. Just get in there.

Can't go wrong with a Houndmaster I suppose. If you go Vestal/HM/HWM/Sader, you should be set for just about anything.

ideally you want to get the highest level skills/equipment you can carry

It's always difficult and scary the first time you go up a rank level.

veteran isn't a huge spike like champion, but you will run into the big boys in every area now

ruins is more or less the same
bring a man at arms or occultists to the weald
bring bandages or a PD to the cove
bring a occultist to the warrens

new zombie spawns in every area that shits out stress

the poor guy ends up dying round 1-2 in most cases

enjoy those 8 hunger checks

a few basic enemies have new effects like stress incantation now marks and the mushroom heads in the weald apply blight

I see that the darkest dungeon is level 6 or 5 and the other places are all 0 or 1 but one of them is level 2.

How does this work? The places I visit more level up? But it still says apprentice level 1 or whatever. I really dont get it

The areas level up as you do shit in them. Unlocking higher level missions in them. Darkest Dungeon is an exception.

the number on the other areas indicate how many bosses you've killed. If your area is level 1, for example, then that means that either the first boss is ready to be fought

thats the shrieker for you

So you only get 1 chance to get the positive quirks

depends who you want to keep and what area you plan on running

main change probably would be moving reynauld to rank 2 so dismas can stab the backrow and reynauld can follow up with holy lance while the vestal keeps the other one stunned

crusaders being slow will help here since you can be sure your HWM can move him into position

don't forget that the leper can knockback enemies 3 spaces so you can often push something so far back they cant threaten you while moving their backrow forward so they spend their turn retreating

you ideally want to do it like this:

dismas stabs enemy 4, leper knocks enemy 1 into rank 4, vestal stuns the new enemy in rank 1 and reynauld finishes off whoever dismas stabbed

enemies are now all out of position and the one guy that is in range is stunned

If you lost 8 trinkets you will always get a Shrieker fight.

I think the event of him stealing your trinkets is one time only

Yeah what the fuck were they thinking? Also the crimson curse should instantly blight and put your heroes on death's door and give them -50% deathblow resist. And the fanatic should have 3 pyres and spawn as a common enemy in every dungeon, and the collector should be immune to stuns and the shambler should get buffed by the clapperclaws.

Class-based seems more logical to me.

I'm pretty sure he's talking about the mod that makes her a functionally different class.

stun is probably his best move

drop bulwark, crusader is tanky, but unlike man at arms or the dog he cant force enemies outside of the mushrooms to attack him

you could drop accusation for the stress heal too since making sure 1 target die is better than spreading out the damage

never take them into a new boss

But i don't think I've killed any bosses yet besides a collector showing up. I just did the sort missions to scout and a medium mission.

What's the difference between the number at the top 0 to 6 and the apprentice level?

meant to say how many bosses you've killed -or- are able to kill.

the level in the skull shows you how many bosses are unlocked for that area, the bar next to the skull fills up when you do missions in the area

the lvl 6 you see is the mission level for the quest, all DD missions are lvl 6, but the area level is always 0 since nothing needs to be unlocked

The apprentice level is the mission's level. It'll change to Veteran/Orange once you get further along. The number over each area is a measure of how much progress you've made, increases with successful missions, and when it levels up, you can fight the next boss.

Also wanted to add the game will spawn quests based on the level of your heroes in the roster. As you get several heroes to level 3, you'll see level 3 quests appear. But if you still have a good number of 1's and 2's you'll have level 1 quests to choose from as well. This is the kind of thing I was worried about when I started playing (a couple weeks ago myself, actually) but it's really not an issue, the game will just get harder as your heroes get tougher.

MAA Bolster once then spam ACC buff
BH and HM go to town and murder his ass.

I finally worked out how to fit the Flagellant into my collage without having to get rid of the Musketeer, while simultaneously filling in the ugly gap around Arb's bolt and representing the relation between the two.

Inventory space is so limited, you would just end up dropping most shit anyway.

normally no, but some events are worth it or trinkets like the ancestor ones

I just don't loot any chests and backtrack once the mission is finished and grab everything. Sure it stresses my team out quite a lot but man so much fucking gold.

Yeah, this confuses me a bit. I always fill up my inventory on short missions, so long quests seem kinda worthless when you're just just gonna end up with more stress for the same amount of loot because of your inventory limit.

Is it me or does the GR consistently roll the lowest possible damage rolls for her attacks 99% of the time if the attack doesn't crit? Like right now her damage range for, say, Thrown Dagger is 10 - 23 and if it doesn't crit then she almost always hits for 10 - 13.

Might've missed the second part of that, I said you'd have the green one be a lunge in pos 3, then the others would be set up to throw daggers, pos 1 and 3 would have shadow fade to manage stuns and keep people in the right positions and pos 2 would get toxin/blight depending where you take them

Another thing I forgot to talk about is the Arbalest's bolas: you can push people quite effective with the new CC trinket giving your Leper reah to hew the weak but annoying backline.

With the trinkets I told you Vestal can one shot bone courtiers and crossbows since the mace now deals extra damage to unholy.

So when can we expect new dlc? Cc was very solid considering it came out about a year after the game was released
Wonder if they'll do a yearly release of dlc because it was worth it to me with what the game added and how much game time was added
