Is DCS World not standalone? Or do you mean the older version which used to just be called 'DCS: A10, Black Shark, etc'?

Also, how is it? I love ridiculously pointless complex flight sims, but even I would have to start with the F-5E, and that's 30 bucks. Worth the price?

Why people use stand-alone is to get stuff faster. for example new module releases, and it takes loads loads of time to get on steam. And hours counting is just cancer for me.
