Somebody put $17k into this BRZ to turbo and tune it...

Somebody put $17k into this BRZ to turbo and tune it, but didnt bother building the engine or finish building out the fuel system except for the pump and injectors. 400hp though is okay i guess.

>17k for just turbo
How's the fucking possible, it's not is it?

Ok. And?

Now you know why boxer is shit. The engine takes up all the room and lots of engineering has to be put into it just to get it to work.

i underexaggerated a bit.

Turbo kit $5k
Fuel Injectors $500
Omni Power 4 $120
Fuel Pump $123
Ecu $350
Dyno+Custom Tune $1k
Perrin Over pipe $360
Oil Cooler $1k
Koyo 13 Radiator $285
Catch CAn KIt $430
Coilovers $1350
Exhaust $900
Clutch $600
Sway Bar $330
Front Pipe HKS $326
Sales Tax $1k

Forgot to add labor but it was a fuck ton.
I also skipped some miscellaneous pieces and parts that were

jesus christ why would you sink $17k into that car just to get 400 hp?

The car currently isnt even tuned to 400hp. Its only tuned to 325whp because the owner cheaped out and didnt do the fuel lines or bottom end.

2/?

Why not just buy a Cayman at this point to begin with?

It would be a better use of money and a more reliable car lmao

Weabos.

$17k in a BRZ is retarded, but I kind of see where he's coming from. there's literally no other modern car that is reminiscent of the legendary 90's JDM tuner cars, and most of the 90's cars are riced out to shit. people treat the BRZ like it's a modern Supra because it's all they have.

This is such the truth.

Run 1 is on E85 with the more conservative tune, I couldn't get a copy of the dyno when they tuned it to 400 but there were too many reliability concerns.

Jeez 10w40 through that engine?

Might as well fill it with hot glue, the fa20 only makes 6psi oil pressure at idle.

I would at least use a 0w30
0w50 if you have cash to blow.

Or just good ol rotella t6, cheap to get and change more often

The dude that ran this car had money to blow, I don't know why they went with 10w40

I managed to get in touch with the shop and got quoted at $13k to rebuild the engine and finish the fuel system build and then re-tune and dyno it

>people treat the BRZ like it's a modern Supra because it's all they have.

how the fuck did you even reach this conclusion?

You need 0 weight oil for the car to run properly.

400hp in a 2800lb car is definitely not a waste.

370z 350z, but i agree with what you are saying.

The 90's jap sport car Renaissance is long dead.

All this bullshit when he could have just ls1 swapped and made more power stock NA on 89 octane lmao

name another affordable japanese sports car that's still in production. there's nothing

miata doesn't count

you can get a much better car for that money

400hp and 2800 lbs isn't even that impressive, you can build a much faster mx-5 nd for the amount of money sunk into that shitty boxer engine

And more room to work to boot.

But what if you don't want to look like a broke looser with poor hygiene.

Or look like a sausage Nigel when the tops down and your buddy driving in the passenger seat

You won't find a car that light with that much power unless you play the 20 year old used sports car game. A fully built 4 banger in anything won't be cheap hence why people LS swap everything.

mx-5 is lighter

mazda a best

It's also got a 160hp already stressed engine that's going to cost even more to get to 400hp reliably.

Seems like a huge PITA

youtube.com/watch?v=se5LVsiTfvo

lol you don't need 400 hp if you weigh 2400 lbs to compete with a 2800 lb car

That looks waaay to far forward.

Car should have come with a new S series engine.

Kek, I’m so torn on this. On one hand, it’s retarded to sink 17k into a car because the manufacturer is too much of a bitch to make it correctly. On the other hand, I would be lying if it isn’t everyone’s dream deep down to just blindly throw money at a Brz and make it the perfect lightweight rwd fuckmobile. 400hp is good too. He mainly got fucked on labor

Thats what this dude did and it was actually pretty dope. I got to see it in action both on the street and on the track and it was insane; but he was $50k in and had other projects to spend money on.

But he totally got fucked on labor, even though its the premiere Subaru/Boxer shop in the region, i still think the labor was a rip-off.

>supra
>affordable sports car
>miata
>doesn't count

Some fucked up cognitive dissonance here, i guess this is what toyobaru fuckboys actually think, seriously just do the world a favor and crash into a tree.

Can't wait to buy the new supra so I can put you poorboys in your place.

To get a reliable 400hp from the br-z you need to rebuild the engine, same deal with the miata

except with the miata you start 400-500lbs lighter, eat shit toyobaru bitchboiiiiiii

Thanks for the brake down!
If they had it all professionally installed I can see it costing easy 17k

enjoy your girl car you fucking faggot

np lol.

It was all professionally done, just remember that it doesn't include rebuilding the engine or a complete fuel system.

Fiat 124

>he doesn't like girls

Nice reading comprehension, but I guess that's to be expected from mouth breathing dagumi shitters like you. Just neck yourself before you wreck yourself k? LOL.

>he was $50k in
Don't get me wrong, I like the BRZ, but fuck that shit. 50k for a 400hp BRZ is something I could never ever do.

inb4 Fiat 124 isn't Japanese

Sammmmeee
$30k for the car and $17k in work....I wouldn't do that shit lmao

It's cheaper to get an S2000 and boost it. The f22c is much easier to work with and can easily reach 400. Better than a Miata as well

(You)
>inb4 Fiat 124 isn't Japanese

But, it is.

>not swapping that garbage F22C for the F22B2

Sweetie, let me show you how it's done.

>implying 50k is alot of money

Nice try poor guy. But a del sol for $500
And a eBay turbo kit special for $400
And fuck right off.

$50k for a ride isn't alot these days.

>catch can $430
What did they mean by this?

>implying 50k is alot of money
For a fucking BRZ it is lol.

Someone probably CAD'd one up and then fabbed one up?

Willing to bet this BRZ is still slower than the Civic Type-R on the burgerking.

t. $50k in debt

...

>aluminum can and some steel wool
>$430 fabbed
Brz/frs/86 fags in a nutshell

The jun synergy v8 kit is 68k alone
The Hollinger sequential box is 18k alone

You could build a much more expensive brz

The new spec miata is 52k by it self

I know a guy who spent 75k on datsun 510 race car.

Good shit cost money

OK in the next 20 years all cars are going to be electric and heavily assisted. Like the model x, cars will basically be driving themselves, you just choose lanes and have a killswitch etc. Eventually assisted driving will be law. This is around when you will get a huge huge surge of aftermarket parts for petrol cars. I think tuning will become bigger than its ever been. Every new engine will come in a crate. I think eventually as a way around restrictions they will start selling cars sans engines. Like just frames with giant engine bays and basic suspension maybe brake/fuel lines. Full of really compatible basic stuff, but no engine. You build your own. And I think that since they aren't going to be allowed on highways, or most major roads, petrol powered tuner cars will have less heat on them, not more. The brz is just a step in that direction. An empty box, so to speak, with which to make your dream tuner. Maybe buy a type r to throw in. Or a ls. It's your call.

The glory days haven't even started. Screencap this post.

I have a similar path for my FR-S, but I'm perfectly OK with stopping at 300HP and doing most, if not all of my own installing.

I love the FR-S platform, but it really pisses me off how they cut corners in certain areas, like the bullshit wheels/tires, lack of suspension adjustability and oil temp/pressure issues on track.

It really needs to be a $20k car out the door.

Ok kid, maybe 100 years from now.

Autonomous vehicles will be set back a long time, once they become more common people are going to start dying left and right from failures. Just wait.

When I'll get an EV to replace my Toyobaru as DD, I'll gut everything useless from it and turn it into a RallyX machine

You sir are a faggot, what car comes with adjustable coils out of the box these days?

You can buy a Mitsubishi mirage new for 14k.

Broke ass

>they cut corners in certain areas, like the bullshit wheels/tires

90% of the owners of these cars run heir own wheels and tires anyways. I'll gladly take steelies and Prius tires for a lower sticker price. They can leave out the head unit and speakers too as most people replace those too.

>oil temp/pressure issues on track.
Let's not expect so much from it. Stock, It's not really designed to be a track weapon, Like the Corvette. If you keep it pinned at 7000rpm all day on a desert track you're going to have issues in a lot of stock cars.

400hp is completely different than 400hp that can run reliably all day at a track

Any moron can slap an ebay turbo kit on a BRZ and make 400hp

The viscosity of the oil is in question here, not the brandwagoning of the month.

If you're going to corner us into naming a car that has to be in production, you might want to reason as to why it needs to be a car in current production.

If I had the money for a BRZ and that 17k anemic turbo kit, there's no way I'm going near one.

>Untouched engine
>Untouched fuel system
Yeah I wouldn't trust that on the track either.

iagperformance.com/IAG-Comp-Air-Oil-Separator-AOS-Subaru-WRX-STI-p/iag-eng-7251.htm

I have this on my car, not as expensive but they are a bit more technical then a can and wool.

I'm talking about adjustable linkages and alignment options, like the S2000 has, retard.

Rotella t6 generally refers to 5w40, because it only comes in 5w40 and 15w40 and nobody is ever talking about the the 15w40.

...

BRZ/FRS Owners:

Going to be getting my first oil change here in the next few days, what do y'all use for oil in your 86's?

cum

Scented 2 stroke oil. Now your car can vape too.

>take a car
>spend money to make it worse
What do mexicans mean by this?

The only oil I could find with a 0W rating, so synthetic Mobil 1

>I'll gladly take steelies and Prius tires for a lower sticker price. They can leave out the head unit and speakers too as most people replace those too.

That exact options package is available in Japan only. I don't know why the fuck they don't do it here, since the entire point of the car is to cater to poorfag boyracers.

No infotainment or shitty silver trim to be found. I love it.

400hp is easily possible on £7000, the FA20 takes boost very well if you map it right.

>Catch CAn KIt $430
WTF? $400+ for a catch can kit.

>Exhaust $900
>Front Pipe HKS $326
Yet skimps out on things that matter.

TWO MILLION ROLLARS

>Somebody put $17k into this $20K brz
Why ?
>You don't like Porsche ?

"all the room" except, you know, for the 2 feet below it and foot above it.

It even looks like a 90’s car.

Bullshit on modern Supra though. There are plenty of modern supras. BMW 335 being the most obvious one. Then work your way back through to the 03 supercharged cobras.

K24A2 would be a smarter choice....

20k for that is breddy gud

would buy, IF IT WAS OFFERED IN BURGERLAND

Get that bedicked transape off my Veeky Forums.

Here is a Melania to remind you stupid socialists niggerlovers what a real First Lady looks like, not that dribbleball player in drag loudmouth sheboon.

>Joke

>you

Total engine rebuilds are for when you want 500+ reliable horsepower

It doesn't save much on the final price since stuff like a head unit and speakers and alloys are so cost effective to mass produce

she IS pretty good lookin'

Civic si

>Turbo kit $5k
Jesus fuck even if you drop $1500 on a good turbo there's no way you'd be spending $3500 on manifold and piping, and no way in hell you'd only make 400hp. Boxers confirmed shit

The boxer layout has little to do with why this overpriced job didn't produce as much as it did.

There's tons of examples of boxer engines getting ludicrous numbers for power such as the 1200hp Subaru sti

m.youtube.com/watch?v=PB3VlKzVAPw

I mentioned in an earlier post that it was currently set to a pretty conservative tune since the fuel system and bottom end was never built out and left mostly stock. They got it at 400whp but brought it down to 325 whp to make sure it would be consistent and semi-reliable

its because he's using the stock block

Show another stock NA engine making a reliable 200hp/l with nothing but bolt on mods.

Not really, it's because he paid for a while bunch of shit but didn't finish the job that would have guaranteed him over 400whp

The fa20 on the wrx already gets 270 horsepower on the crank. This engine is certainly able to do more

A civic si k24 and k20 makes pretty good Power stock and has been shown to boost and get upwards of 400 with a few simple mods
