It's been freezing on the east side. It's just now starting to get up to the 40s again with rain instead of snow so I can ride again.

In the quest for a commuter/weekend bike, I'm looking at the R1200RS, R1200R, S1000R, Super Duke R, Super Duke GT, and the Multistrada S.

I want to be able to whoolie and maybe go to the track, but am kinda sick of wind blast on my existing 250. At 6', will the windscreen on a naked help at all, or should I stop wanting to squid and go for the sport-tourers instead?

The semi fairings on the r1200rs and multistrada reduce the quantity of windblast at highway speeds - from crotch to nipple only. You aren't insulated from rain and total wind like on a fully faired bike but I guess you know that already.

I went from a bandit 1200s (semi faired) to a r1100rt (full fairing w/ electric screen) and next bike will be a round headlight naked so I can run a plexifairing when I feel like it and remove it when I don't. Wind is an incredibly subjective area anyway, GLHF researching.

As an addition to what this guy is saying, do not hop on a sportbike and expect dry legs or much wind protection. The fairings are very slim.

Sport tourer fairings protrude more from the bike and they have larger frames in the first place

Ayy. I've only had my licence 3 months, so the only real road I've been on is the Spur. I go on the yarra boulevard occasionally, but they cyclists get annoying. There are some decent roads if you go out to east Gippsland, but they're usually not well maintained.
I'm finishing uni this week, so I'm going to plan a tour before I have to start work.
