I'll let you inspect this kid *grabs crotch*

Truly the greatest thread the board has ever seen. This will in no way turn into a /int/ shitfest.
T. no inspections state

>moved from PA to ohio
>insurance goes up by $250 a month because of the fact that there's no safety inspections in ohio

>trusting hicks with judging whether their car is road safe

Safety inspection only is reasonable
Emissions are dumb

Same dude, PA to NJ
you would not believe how many rusty deathtraps are on the road in NJ
Classic shitmobile

Depends on where you live. I'm ok with taking my shitbox in every couple years for 20 minutes if it means I can see the mountains from my yard instead of a bunch of smog.

Emissions are reasonable in built up areas.

there are so many cars in my area that shouldn't have passed but the people slip a few bills to the dude and he gives them the passed sticker to keep the cops away.

Safety inspections are unreasonable.
All you need is a law stating something along the lines of
>If a reasonable person would consider your car dangerous or unfit for use on public roads, it is the owners responsibility to make adequate repairs before operating it on public roads
This would remove the necessity of wasting everyone's time and money on inspections, while also giving police, and even citizens, the needed authority to remove dangerous vehicles from the road.
I live in a state with no safety inspections and I can't tell you the last time I saw a car that wasn't safe driving down the road.

Emissions tests are passed in 99% of all inspections on the first go through.
Fact of the matter is on modern fuel injected cars, if you're going to be polluting, you're going to know it, because your car is going to run like absolute shit.
The vast majority of people never touch their emissions control systems, it's federally illegal to do so anyway.
All emissions testing does is waste everyone's time and money.
Bureaucracy is a fucking scam, any interaction with government is a bad interaction.
If you were concerned about pollution you'd realise that there's no such thing as localized pollution and emissions and pollution controls on industry and commercial transit would make much more of an impact in the west than piddling around with private transportation.

tldr, inspections of any sort are a waste of money and time.

>there's no such thing as localized pollution
Tell that to everyone living in urban areas when there's a smog bell above the city.

Only pick up trucks should be required to get an inspection.

t. rural shithole dweller

I live in Denver.
The brown cloud is because we live in a fucking valley and we're in the west. It's mostly dirt, it's been there for centuries.

And the pollution in California comes from China.

This isn't the 1970's anymore.
Take a look at your emissions data. Your car emits less carbon than you do.
Pollution isn't significant at the individual level.

see
You're just a leftist. If you had any idea what we were talking about then you would understand. But you're just another big government faggot who can't take any amount of personal responsibility

>And the pollution in California comes from China.

haha I was going to call you a fag but then I found this article

npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2017/03/03/518323094/rise-in-smog-in-western-u-s-is-blamed-on-asias-air-pollution

I love taking my catless car that's registered in FL to liberal shitholes and having those faggots smell my freedom

Ever wondered why the rest of the nation and even the rest of world considers your state a mentally ill third world shithole?

Because it's full of spics and other ethnically ambiguous brown men.
The huge boomer population doesn't help either.

>proud to live in Florida

ever wonder why the rest of the nation is jealous that we get to drive literal racecars on the road here?

fuck off back to your containment state, commiefornian

This is why Florida is hated as a state of junkies, retards, and old farts

>t. willingly allows his car to get cucked by emissions

That's fucking retarded
T. Also don't have cats

You know you're talking to a stubborn hick when he considers all forms of responsible behavior as being cucked.

The only person at my local emissions place that can drive manual is an obese woman. I don't want her in my cars, but I have no choice. This is state sanctioned rape.

This state needs to bring back inspections and front plates.

>not realizing 15 cargo ships output more pollution than all of the cars in the world combined
>"b-b-b-but muh responsible behavior!1!1!!1!1!1!!!!"

Having a car in optimal running condition and minimizing pollution is responsible behavior and it shouldn't be discredited just because it has less impact than others.

I believe that emissions testing is a massive fucking waste of money though. Huge fucking drag on the economy, it's a fake product that's compulsory to purchase. It's a scam. The population shouldn't be compelled to buy anything.

It's not about emissions but safety.

>responsible behavior
According to who, your socialist brainwashers?

Car related deaths are at an all time low in the US, and that's despite speeding and distracted driving skyrocketing.

Srop feeding him at this point and let the thread die.

> Letting people drive around in rusted-through ancient cars that drop parts and spew smoke

>Too assmad to accept facts

Typical liberal

According to how you have to be a mentally retarded 15 year old to willingly release increased amounts of known carcinogens into the air when simple methods to decrease their number exist and are in fact installed in all modern production vehicles. Seriously, end yourself right now and spare the world from your footprint.

>not letting someone inspect your car
I like to know that my car is safe, and that the other people on the road are driving safe cars. That's why I look forward to inspections here in Pennsylvania, and I'm glad other states like Ohio are planning on adding mandatory safety inspection programs.

>poor people shouldn't be allowed to own transportation

Stop feeding him.

>known carcinogens
Buzz word! Carcinogen has lost all meaning because of its over use.
Want to hear some known carcinogens?
Wood, fat, cotton, latex, leather, sugar, oil, plastic, aluminum.

What have you done lately to lower your contact with those carcinogens?

I don't care about my emissions dude, besides the ones that land on your mom's face. Accept it or not, but either way fuck off.

>having a poverty problem in your society in the first place
>not offering alternative forms of transportation for those wanting or needing to use them

>Work all your life
>Depressed wage slave
>Finally save up enough to buy that nice sports car you wanted
>Realize it makes less power than it should
>Decide to remove the cats and get it tuned
>Snowflakes come crying in hordes because you did what you wanted with your own personal property
>tfw

>I don't care about my emissions dude
Sucks to be you, the world doesn't revolve around you.

Stop bumping the shit thread.

Most people at inspection stations are fucking retarded and don't know cars at all. They can figure out your lights and horn but that's it. Fuckin 50 bucks under the table and you can pass anything.

Name one fucking country that doesn't have poor people or a lower class
>offering
Who's offering, the government? With MY tax money? I don't think so, fuckface.

>Realize it makes less power than it should
According to what metric? What's the metric for how much power a car "should" make?

Also you can do whatever you want to your personal property ON YOUR PERSONAL FUCKING LAND, NOT IN PUBLIC. Get fucked, you clown.

You can't make me give a shit. Stop trying.

You know how you get headaches if there's an exhaust leak coming into the inside of your car?
Do you think that's healthy?
Why shouldn't we stop putting those fumes out into the atmosphere if we can easily prevent that?

FOR FUCK'S SAKE. WHY DO YOU CONTINUE TO ENGAGE EITHER (A) A MORON OR (B) A SOMEWHAT CLEVER TROLL?

>Buy every diesel truck I can afford
>Make them spew black smoke
>Let them idle on my own property with a weight on the gas pedal
>Refuel them as needed

Because if you never tell morons that they're morons they'll start thinking they're actually in the right.

Nice question dodging.
Also no, you don't get a headache if you're running a cat, you essentially only get CO, CO2 and NOX. None of which give you a headache, and only one of which is detectable by humans.
I've huffed more than my fair share of exhaust fumes, your inexperienced story telling can't trick me.

>ps none of those are significant carcinogens

This is most likely a troll at this point, see the obvious samefagging posts ~1 minute apart like
Now ask yoirself, do you want this to morph into continent vs continent like you know it will, and we will have EVEN MORE garbage threads spawned from overflow out of this, or do we just leave the attention-starved no-car be?

Make sure you're using off road diesel, you wouldn't want to pay that road tax if they won't let you operate it on the road.

Hey man,
Was me. I'm not arguing for random pollution and increased emissions. I'm arguing that the economic impact and emissions inspections are nonsensical for their impact.

Car emissions are absurdly low, yet it costs the public personally $50,000,000 a year out of pocket in my state, and that's just for the inspections. That's not including road side emission inspections, state emissions paperwork and mail, state emissions network, and more.

Texas State Inspector here. It's a fucking joke in this state. Once a year, you waste $100 bucks to have someone plug your OBD port into a computer and lazily smash the enter key on a keyboard.

The only way you fail in Texas is if you're an asshole to the inspector or you neglect the ever living shit out of your car.

What if someone has a broken tail light? Do they fail or is that up to the cops to pull them over?

Alri.

>Commiefornians breathing in cancer

Wait, why is this bad?

You're side stepping the issue.
The issue isn't if emissions controls are important.
The issue is if there is a significant impact on emissions productions by forcing the public to get emissions inspections, and the answer is no.
Over 99% of cars tested pass on their first test.
I didn't say chuck out the cats and run 12:1.
I said that personal transportation is a drop in the bucket, and it's a huge economic waste to attempt to enforce it how they currently are.

Every drop contributes to filling the bucket, and you'll get further by paying attention to all drops, not only the biggest ones.

No.
And emissions testing doesn't reduce the drop significantly.
That's my entire point.
The money we spend every single year emissions testing could go to much better use regulated and testing commercial transportation and production.
If your trip is over an hour long you will put out fewer emissions by driving your car than by bicycling.
That's what people don't seem to understand. Cars are so obnoxiously efficient at emissions controls that their essentially insignificant.
And arguing that trying to wrangle up the last 5% out of all the insignificant pollution is the way to kerb climate change is beyond retarded.
Take on the big evils. Not the little evils.
Hey, if you ever get rid of the big evils then one day privately owned cars might be the big evil. But today, in 2017, it's not.

>you'll get further by paying attention to all drops, not only the biggest ones.

MONTHLY EXPENSES

>Water $20
>Gas $15
>Food $120
>Electricity $60
>Internet $40
>Porn $$300
>Escorts $2,500
>Blow $1,000

How should we reduce our monthly expenses?
I know, we should turn the water off while we brush our teeth, that should reduce our water bill by around half a percent.
That should do it.

Thats true, if the drops are of equal size, and in equal drizzle.
If Private Sector is 70% of the drops, and shipping 50% of those again, army doesn't use a lot, and consumer doesn't even meet 20%?
Well, then good luck telling them what to do.
Your only option is to go fuck yourself, or kill boaters

>>Porn $$300

VA doesn't have emission testing

>Porn ($)

Actually mississippi doesn't require inspection of any kind.
I've been working on cars in this shit state for a long time, and not once have I ever had an inspection on any automotive of any kind, which is funny since the only tracks we have are the 1/8 mile in Collinsville and the dirt track in Hattiesburg. Such a waste considering the state has some of the most lax emissions laws I've ever seen anywhere, this state cares so little about the environment that the recycling plant and the dump is the same place, as in, there is no recycling plant. I have a 96 impala ss that I put a turbo in and have an aftermarket exhaust (among other upgrades, it's got a 5 speed transmission I put in along with a clutch pedal), and police don't even bat an eye when they hear how loud it is or even if I do burnouts in it (as long as there aren't people around), this state is truly car paradise (except for the lack of tracks).

Correction, only DIESEL pickup trucks should be required to get emissions.

>Porn $$300

>not living in the only state that doesnt require you to have insurance or wear your seatbelt

>only a $20 water bill
Where the fuck do you live? Where I live water costs $500 a month even if you aren't using it.

What's next, bragging about not having brain bowl laws for motorcycles in your states?

>Drinking diesel

Ho, you need a real man?

One that can _AFFORD_ super?

Diesel is for pussies,
I drink/eat 60w-60 oil (liquefied nigger remains)

Mississippi actually requires all passengers to have seatbelts now, so it's a little outdated

>he doesn’t live in one of the nine county or county equivalent jurisdictions in Northern Virginia which require biennial emission inspection

>Louisiana
>Pay someone $20 to look at your blinkers
>A stickler might look for cats

This is outrageous.

I moved away from Louisiana because of stupid car laws

What do you live in Africa

Close enough, I live in mississippi

>Ny
>Requires emissions testing

Uh nope.

I would rather risk a true shitmoble operating on the roads than let the government take advantage of a few rare situations to dip its hands into another aspect of my life and suck more money from me. I've lived in no-inspection states all my life and the worst I've seen is a car with an exhaust pipe dragging on the road, which I highly doubt the driver knew about it and no cop would ignore that. One bad situation in the 19 years or so I can remember, and I've never heard of any accidents caused on account of improperly maintained cars.

>what did he mean by this

OwO

I don't know, I have magical powers and shit I guess

In Indiana there's literally only emission tests in 2 of the 92 counties. Other than being in the rust belt, it's not bad here.

>Replying to your own post

Yeah well, I have the government "dipping its hands into another aspect of my life", and I also have the Autobahn, which wouldn't be possible to exist if you licensed complete morons for driving and didn't check cars for road worthiness.

>land of the "Free"
>forced to have someone testing your emissions

This is outdated
MS doesn't require inspections anymore

I already said this, get with it man

>europoor defending being a statist cuck who lets the bureaucracy dictate how he lives his life
Europeans are defective, nobody should unironically want to be ruled.

I suppose in that situation I can understand it. But here in America, we've already got the shitty roads, might as well be able to drive whatever I want on them as long as I pay my registration and insurance
