What's the fucking point?

Top thread OP.

this is what the hood is for

I MUST ALWAYS BE MODEST AND COVER MY UNHOLY AREAS FOR EXPOSED SKIN LEADS TO PREGNANCY

Here is my plastiengi.

Gross acaura tl. Fwd vomit.

>So they can charge you more at the dealership.
And we pay for these fucking things too.

>Should we cleanly integrate the electronics?
>Nah, lets just use a bunch of extension cords.

...

No need to be ashamed

>no user
>t-thats where my air filter goes

We must go deeper

but...

Nova?

ye

Very disco

thats the look yo

when i get it out of storage in april, i have a set of rally wheels im gonna plasti dip black and run chrome center caps on.

this is the only pic i have of the wheels

heres a pic of the color combo. sorry for potato vision, is a screen grab from a video

>doesn't know how to undo a few fasteners

>ahh the dremel its in my intake ports

>flat battery
>need to jump car
>first need to undo 20 bolts to reach battery

>flat battery
>need to jump car
>first need to take off the front wheel to reach battery

T-thanks Chrysler

Remember when engines didn't look like a magpie nest and covers weren't needed?

there are terminals under the hood you only need to remove the access panel to change the battery
>wrong
try reading the owners manual that came with your car

>try reading the owners manual that came with your car
Mine didn't came with one.
Also, my battery is on the front right of my car, easy to get to, not a single cover on it.

>modern twin turbo car

they also need fix more often so all works together

my car runs hotter if i have the engine cover on it, only slightly but hotter is hotter.

It's like a little bit of lingerie for the valve covers

...

How do you go from this...

To this?

I think Lexus is the master of this game?

Ram with the 8.0 V10, v nice

What the actual fuck

>but what if, get this, what if we made the hood the engine cover?
The hood on the Audi A2 doesn't open, you literally have to take it off if you want to get to the engine.

...

>pipes going over the airboxes

Serious question.

On these cars with extensive component covers, how do you check your oil or any other of your fluids?

You ask the computer nicely.

>checking oil
Most cars no longer have a dipstick.

Just drive on until the car says it needs a service.

sometimes they have cutouts for filling / checking fluids

Those exposed plug wire connections make me a bit queasy.

Honestly so long as things are somewhat tidy and serviceable underneath, I'm fine with engine covers. Means you have less to clean if you spill a bit of coolant or whatever on there, and they're usually piss easy to take off.

...

Those are intakes and it's not unlikely (depending on the turbo setup) that those black plastic things are the air boxes.

There's a difference between having an insanely big engine that fills out the engine bay vs having a tiny engine and filling the bay with plastics.

Mine. At least it's one piece. Took it off and is now hung up on my wall

...

...

...

Why do you care so much? Modern cars are so reliable that you shouldn't ever have to pop the hood.

...

All-new A/C system? Nice dude! R134a converted?

...

here's your (you)

user can't into oil.

>civilians should not be allowed to tamper with automotive components or systems
gee thanks obama

this right here

...

I unironically want my daily to have an engine bay like this.

it's still happens, sometimes
but man it's a much bigger clusterfuck

Why don't they make large displacement 6 cylinder gas engines anymore?

>Why don't they make large displacement 6 cylinder gas engines anymore?

because muh efficiency

>what is an eclectic car

all hybrids use the orange to determine what is high voltage (600V)

Most people btfo all those plastics and leave it all barebone on those 1.8Ts unless they're numales who don't work on their own cars.

look where the the fucking cylinder heads are

this engine is original xbox controller sized

...

It's a 95 so it came R134a

you know you can take the covers off, right?

You can still get >4.0L in trucks

Jesus, the bonnet's just extra weight at this point

Sage

is there a functional reason for all of this plastic?

hold the fucking phone someone actually bolted the hood shut on a modern car?

so it begins.

No, it just covers up the nasty looking engine.

they actually cause most car engines to run hotter due to restricted air flow.

maybe they should design their engines to look less nasty

I don't. I just think the orange wires look funny.

Hello LS brother, nice wall decoration. I prefer your cover over mine, look less intrusive and dare i say it better design than the my bland looking one. The painted on words are already peeling.

You don't know how good you have it.

Is that all you need to take off to get to the engine? Nope. You're just halfway to the fucking air filter.

You take your handful of bolts and you enjoy them.

That's why you should buy the superior bikes

For a couple of years holden fit these split LS covers between massive shells they did other years
I kinda like it
Whats/o/'s opinion?
I can take them off but theyre the only thing that makes it stand out as a 6 litre L98 not an LS1

>older

I didn't know that. The new Volt has no exposed orange wiring.

It's common on supercars.

>Newer
No idea why they didnt stay with the split cover that looks good covering the coil packs

Post pics of whole car.

It's a W configuration, ofc it's gonna be wide as fuck.

>W config
>twin turbo

I was wondering how this was plumbed, apparently it's two VR6 engines welded together? What a clusterfuck

...

Pretty.

It's not even that modern either, the A2 came out in 1999. Used some really cool design ideas for an econobox (super low drag shape, "service hatch" for easy access to all fluid filler caps, full aluminum unibody) but it was massively let down by its high price, lacking in engine options and a complete pain in the dick to work on.

ur like a little baby watch this

Why are you on Veeky Forums??

Liking cars =/= liking unreliable shitboxes

But of course Veeky Forums doesn't understand

Id take the plastic cover off my 05 c240, but the cover houses all the airfilters.
