There's no reason Makoto needs to be the strategist. You have Morgana (an actual thief) and Joker for that. Since Makoto is the one that comes up with everything you do, why even have Joker be the leader?

I just played that part and I disagree. I don't think it was bad writing, and I don't think everybody overly praises Makoto. Makoto's the one that came up with the plan and she did logistics work. The person who did most of the legwork was Futaba considering she had to hack Akechi's phone to record it AND to launch him into the Metaverse. And none of it would be possible without Joker and Morgana discovering the pancakes thing.
