Ticking between 2500 and 3500rpm only

ticking between 2500 and 3500rpm only
thoughts?

LS Thread?

That's the sound of freedom

...

pushrods are.trash

$500 and an afternoon can fix that.

Idk, just LS swap it when the engine blows

>LS swaping an LS
Madman

My 2 ls car have always had slight tick, never had a problem if it gets louder with rpm or overall you might have an issue

If you can, make sure the oil pickup is in good shape. The LS oil pickup tubes are notorious for leaking with age

Maybe your lifters?
I had a 4.6 modular that ticked at idle. Pushrods have nothing to do with it, it's just valvetrain wear.

Where is the best place to buy a decent lowish mileage LS? Been looking on eBay and Craigslist and there isn't anything approaching the 500 dollar meme.

If you practically want a crate motor you're looking at thousands, user.
A junkyard 5.3 (LM7, typically, there's multiple 5.3's) or 6.0 (probably an LQ4) (which will need a hotter cam to really come alive) will probably run between $500-1000. If you buy the entire junked vehicle and part it out yourself on ebay, the engine may end up costing you nothing. I've heard of someone doing that go get a 6.0 out of a van and actually make money in the process.

clogged push-rod oiling hole.

Probably your lifters, stop hitting the rev limiter goy.

Is it true that an LS cost more than $500 in America?
i would never expect to pay more than that for an entire ls1.
shit could have a whole car for spare parts + an ls1 and gearbox for $500

Where the FUCK do you live? Or rather, when?

>2500 and 3500rpm

Not impressive.

>stop hitting the rev limiter

In your eyes, what RPM range is acceptable for ticking noises then?

400rpm

As its a narrow rpm band it shoulds like a resonance issue.
Check the exhaust system. Heat shields, rubber mounts, flex section.
Also check for other vibration issues, engibe and transmission mounts, radiator mounts, signs of shit rubbing the frame chassis etc

I'm not looking at a crate motor I just want a truck LS to throw in my jeep

Australia
Buy an old LS manual commodore wreck for $1000 (700us) easy

Lol mine just did the tick of death before it dropped a lifter and fucked the heads and cam.

Rebuild it.

Just lol. If the motors done less that 300,000km, they'll be selling it separately.

>Stop hitting the rev limiter

Where's the fun in that. I also imagine it's hard to do when it redlines at 2000 RPM since it's a truck engine.

LS motors have hydro lifters don't they?
Sometimes lifters stick - various things can cause this but the easiest one to fix is oil. Make sure you're running the right oil.

then it would tick all the time dick head

If you're gonna get a 5.3, try to find an L33. It's got an aluminum block, flat top pistons, LS6 heads, hollow stem exhaust valves, and a unique cam. Only found in 05-07 4WD Chevy/GMC 1500s.

>not 6000rpm

Good. Get an ohc ford v8 they are better

Nah ls are reknowned for failing in the right head mid way

>1UZ-FE ticking at 6000rpm
sounds about right to me

Check your rockers, I'd bet one of those french food sounding rockers are loose.

>actually make money in the process.
Scrapping has always been profitable.

Quick buck if you know what yourr doing

weird, my ls1 redlines at 6200rpm.
it stops making power well before then too so what the fuck is the point in revving that high?

Shit stock tune? I had a mafless tune rev to 6450
