Nah my family's farm has had self driving tractors for 15 years now, I haven't plowed a field since I was 14. My plan is to hang around this industry and observe the changes with a cautious eye, and move onto a new career when the company I work for gets bought by a larger company.

It's just a matter of economics, the only reason planes and trains haven't been fully automated is because the costs of those trained individuals is less than 5% of a company's expenses, whereas a trucking company's single largest expense is drivers wages, making it a huge incentive to replace them with automation.

Again, it's not about safety as the major driving factor, its money. Yes all vehicles will be self driven within 25 years and safety will vastly improve, but the financial gain in automation is why investors are throwing huge amounts of money into trucking right now.

Trucks will be self driving before cars, there is more financial incentive that route. Yes cars will be self driving shortly after, once it is deemed they are unsafe and ban human driving on the highways. I don't like the future of not being allowed to drive my own vehicle, but we are the last generation to enjoy such freedoms.

Nope. They just won't, at least not using existing camera based prototypes. These trucks can only drive in perfect conditions on specific parts of pre selected roads. They can't drive in rain or snow or fog or heavy traffic or construction. They'll never advance beyond that point using current technology because it has too many limitations.

You don't see em very often off the interstate, but can car haulers make sharp turns and backs? It looks like the trailer would hit the truck but maybe there's something I'm missing on them. I've never seen one backing or making a right turn before.
