Is there such a thing as a reliable luxury car?

Is there such a thing as a reliable luxury car?
I just want a reliable car with nice leather seats and a good drive without stupid shit breaking all the time

No. There isn't.

Just get a high trim civic or Mazda 3 like the rest of the stealth wealth fags

See for yourself.

for JDM market Toyota Crown, literally the only major problem 8th gen get is the airbag suspension bags wear out after 25 years, even thats only if you have that option. ive had no issues with mine

Yes

notice the average is like 50k-100k km on that list, 100k km- 150k km is the sweet zone of shit failing and maintenance needing doing. thats why so many people sell their BMW and Mercedes at the 100k km service

>tfw there are 0 good used Lexus around me for over 2 hours
Sucks ass

any 5-series bmw from before the connected drive bullcrap comfy as fuck, quite fast, great seats, and the computer system works wonderfully even when it's old.

>volskwagen
>mitsubishi
>"luxury"

Wew

Looking at the EX-L civics but it seems silly to buy one when my wife already has a standard civic.

Dodge charger, Challenger, or Chrysler 300. Their chassis was designed with the help of Mercedes. Lincoln Town Car, was the most popular livery car in the US.

If you want a normie view of "luxury" like a real Mercedes or BMW. Buy it certified pre-owned at the Brand's dealership or buy the top of the line warranty at Car Max. The warranty will pay for itself easily, it's the best kind of maintenance (documented on car fax) then sell the car once it expires and you've enjoyed it for 3--5 years.

I have a luxury car and bought a warranty, the warranty has already paid for itself in one year.

Hyundai Genesis

mazda offers leatherette (fake leather) on their touring trim if a good ride and seats are all you're after. I would probably go with lexus if I didn't care about mpg

Go to a rich area, theres tons of old people who bought es330s because theyre old and like C O M F Y

i wouldn't say dying of boredom in a bucket of wallpaper paste is luxury.

Shit will always break, it is a luxury car and they're meant to be filled with gadgets. Doesn't mean you still cant work on them yourself, and if they made tons of that model then there will be a sizable aftermarket for cheap parts.

>New Jersey plates

How are Buick Regals?
They seem like one of the better Buicks

t. Clarkson

Pretty good for a not-Passat.

2008 and onwards are just re-branded Opels. Even before that, I've never heard GM and reliability being on good speaking terms.

...

I know he and james thought the SC430 was the worst car in the world but that implied Lexus knew better. And he did like the LFA.

Wasn't there also something about the GS-F being better than the M5?

forever in my heart

530d

>saab

:D

Lexus LS is ok

They still ride like shit at maximum trim

This right here, my e60 is fucking solid, drives smoothly, handles well and it's all leather and wood inside.

Infiniti sedans.

ha right. When these came out i went to the opel site to look at the options and there was leather as a option and only 1 gasoline engine and that was a 1.5L
It looks amazing and expensive but the options list is absymal

i meant to say there was no such option as leather

Thoughts on the 520i?

I dont want to buy a 520d since I heard a lot of stories and a E60 520d must have atleast 2 million kms under its belt. I refuse to believe that most of the 520d have over 400k kms.

Also, thoughts on the 525d? I guess I could make an effort, if it is worth it.

The W211 is one of the most reliable luxury cars out there. It's only weaknesses are the air suspension and the seats buttons. But a generally reliable car. The W220 also is very reliable, suffering only from air suspension wear out, but with 2017 technology the air suspension is no longer ridiculously expensive.

Well shit i wouldnt recommend a W220. Air suspension components are expensive and finding leaks is a major pain in the ass. Its mostly a solid car but it does have standart mercedes problems like rust. Idk if MB used the same shitty water based paint like on the W210.

If you want an E60 and you can live with a diesel get the 530d or the 535d. Engines are solid but it will have issues. Powertrain is solid and the M57 can be remapped and tuned to ~400hp(apparently)

i should clarify that with issues i meant electronics (there are a lot), cooling system and so on. Expensive parts. Heater can go out at -20C and thats not too pleasant.

a 3.0 litre engine is way above my financial possibilities, it's taxed to hell and back.
A 2.5 litre would be my upper limit, the road tax is only 500 euros/year...the 3.0 litre is somewhere at 1.500 euros/year.

But what about the 520i? I'm not a performance fan in any way.

No expierience with those but most 520i 's are going to be poverty spec with few options.
Holy fuck thats a huge tax difference. Find how the tax is calculated and see what cars deliver best bang for buck. Where im from cars registered before 2005 pay tax only based on their weight so i can have a V8 for 180€ a year.

Everything is taxed by displacement and nothing else. Anything below 2.0 litres is taxed at under 50 euros/year, below 2.5 is at 250 euros/year and below 3.0 at 500 euros. Over 3.0 is 1500 euros and the largest possible tax, for a 8.4L V10 which is at 3.500 euros.

A 520i with the M54B22 2.2 litre 170 bhp engine would be the best all-rounder for me, however I know very little about it's reliability. I know that the N43 replacement is a terrible engine tho.

Fuel consumption and performance don't matter that much for me, as I don't drive too much and it's usually in the city. A diesel would be terrible for me.

i'm surprised no one posted this yet

FFS just get a Lexus. Lexus is literally the industry standard of reliable luxury.

Every one has God awful beige or hospital grey interior

If you're just getting into luxury, and want something good but relatively inexpensive, there's Acura.

If you want to go balls deep in luxury, there's Lexus.

Both are even more reliable than their non luxury counterparts (Honda and Toyota), which is saying a whole lot considering the two are pretty much always at the top in reliability

Then get the black option that is usually $50 cheaper.

Try spending some more and not just getting the ES

>hospital grey with a splash of blood

Get a classic porsche. There's more to luxury than looking rich and having solid leather seats (like every basic bitch civic, lol, if your seats aren't perf leather with heating AND cooling it's not luxury, just uncomfortable)

It's all about enjoying what poorfags can't.

>inb4 it's nice so it breaks
They're fucking reliable

t. flyover statefag

The option is actually called "passionate black".

I know this is bait, but whatever

>implying I'm gonna buy a used car
Lol God no. I'll let some other sucker waste 50% of its value for me.

Fuck yes I love driving my car like I'm riding a fucking came

I prefer my cars to be practical and not something you ride around in on weekends for a couple hours in the summer

>classic Porsche
Better not take your eye off the oil pressure gauge ever.
Other than that they're pretty fucking solid though.

People in my family have had good luck with Japanese sedans, like early/mid 00s Infinitis and Lexus. I find those cars really boring to drive, even if they ride really smooth. I don't know a damn thing about cars though, I just came here to see if there was a thread about the Pope's Lambo and now I'm just browsing.

>I need seven seats and enough trunk space to fit a twingo for my daily commute to work

Alright.

Maybe lexus you mongloid

Good call, got a e61 520d with 110k kms, only a new battery in 8 years, runs perfectly. Great fucking car.

Depends where you live I guess, I have been driving 5-10 year old BMWs for years and never had any serious problems. Parts in the UK are dirt cheap, there is practically no difference in maintenance between a BMW and a Ford / Vauxhall if you take the car to an independent specialist and stay away from dealers. If you don't care about driving a slightly older car then our used car market is incredible. Most people don't know a damn thing about cars anyway, they think my 650i is an incredibly expensive and fancy car but it costs less than a brand new base model Fiesta, and it doesn't depreciate anywhere near as much as a new car so who gives a shit about fuel economy.

No car is reliable.

Either you spend $ every once in s while to maintain it in good working condition

OR

Spend $$$ rarely to fix all the broken stuff that wasn't maintained.

No shut your mouth.

The old 300 were based on the E-chassis but not manufactured in the same plant, or even out of the same materials. Then you have Chrysler put together all the electronics, interior, and powertrain and all 3 are weak points with the exception of the Hemi engine but that's only because they've used the same design more or less for almost 20 years and they finally ironed out the kinks after millions of miles of real world testing.

Town cars are okay but the leather interior is shit quality and the rear airbag suspension is fragile and needs to be replaced every 10-15 years because the rubber dries up.

how the fuck do we know if it's reliable or not if it's barely been out for a few months?

...

I remember Clarkson liked it because it had a big NA V8 instead of the myriad of turbos all the Germans have on their engines these days.

And Chris Harris liked it too for having a more usable power band than the F10.

Town Car

>w220

wew lad

benchracer argument
have you owned one?

no I have a W140 and W218

and he said it is not fast as Germans.

The rebranded opels with 2.0T are pretty good all in all, especially considering the used price.

That's simply not true.

Had both EG Civic and E46 318.

Everything made of plastics fails and disintegrates while it was fine on Civic so that alone makes one car more reliable than another.

Neck yourself idiot

you seem to be confusing 0-60 and burgerking times with luxury and comfort, lexus is exactly what op is looking for

Old Lexus (and Toyota as a whole) used to give both in pretty decent packages.

Those things were cramped as fuck, not luxurious in the slightest

>Lexus IS F is boring
Y-Yeah guys, powerful V8, great handling and sedan practicality are boring, am i right?

>No car is reliable
My Holden Commodore (VT) has 300,000km and has been hooned for the last 150K of those. Nothing on it has broke and maintenance costs fuck all.

In Australia hooned means cutting loose and driving 5 clicks over the limit like a mad man
