It's just ascension and bonds but the amount varies, for example Lu Bu only needs one bond, Medusa needs two but Romulus needs fucking five.

His NP is great since it lowers all targets NP gauge by 1 which is vital in surviving the bigger stuff to come. The extra turn you survive is the difference between taking 100k damge 8 times to your team and instead living and winning
