In fallout 1 & 2 is it possible to go as a pure stealth build and as a tanky build?
By this I mean in Fallout 3 you could go stealth armour/stealth boys with silence weapons or else just go full on power armour and heavy weapon/melee.

Getting through the city was hell, and we're probably not coming back until we're smart enough to start repairing power armor. But we made it to Goodneighbor, and our mission is accomplished. Piper, Cait and Maccready are coming back north with us to help build our nation, after we rest and take care of business here in town.

You want the /worse/ one first? FO4, absolutely. FNV hardcore mode is great, esp with mods like Portable Sleeping Bag or whatever its called.

Technically 4's survival mode is a lot more comprehensive and interesting than NV hardcore, but generally NV is a better game so it depends on that too

Build Your Own Pool lets you place water markers. Wild Plants Farming lets you build other wild plants. Crimsonrider's Unique Furniture lets you build the fog condenser (that provides 5 defense) if you were curious about that too.

I installed the newest version of better settlers with the soldier and mortal options on, does this mean it will also make raids more deadly? If not is there a good mod that buffs settlent raids that is compatible?

immersive gameplay buffs raids immensely but it's an overhaul, also changes resource requirements so getting a generator running is difficult, let alone getting a network of turrets capable of acquiring and identifying targets autonomously

arbitration and better locational damage makes combat in general deadlier and improves enemy combat AI greatly

settlement attacks beyond moves all attacker spawn points OUTSIDE of the settlement borders so you can actually defend your walls

anything that changes attacking factions like super mutant overhaul, raider overhaul, synth overhaul, etc

Only works for melee weapons. A bit weird when you think a switchblade has better potential to send an NPC flying with that perk than a Power Fist but it's probably to separate unarmed/melee.

Me too but I think gameplay is much tighter in 4. World design was but I think my biggest complaint was the map. I didn't really like how it corralled you around due to the largely impassible terrain around the middle and the high level enemies on the only other route out of Goodsprings.

It didn't corrall you if you aren't a scrub. My problem with it is by level 20 you can kill everything easily anyway and most of the quests involve either killing everything in select locations or slogging back and forth to no name NPC's in no name locations for whats basically xp.
