I would've preferred a somewhat subtle thermal meter on the side.
I did also just notice the health and shield on his neck, and some yellow bar.
With that much screen space left, I would've also made the squadmate info part larger. Make a proper shield strength and health bar.

Interestingly enough, a bit later in the documentary they show a HUD that's closer to the final version. The yellow bar shows that your powerup is ready for use.
