Just drove one of these yesterday, what a fucking riot. It's pretty fast, the engine is fantastic, its super light, and the whole car is so easily manageable through corners.

I dunno what else you could want out of a hot hatch.

A fast back is what a 240Z or a 180SX is, where it's a hatch, but the angle is acute from the taillights to the roof
A regular hatchback is a larger angle from the taillights to the roof
A liftback is essentially what a 5-Door Mazda6 is

I believe a Hatch is something like the Golf, with the hinges for behind the center of the rear wheel, so it looks like Megane too is a liftback.

Then I don't see why hinge placement relative to wheels is any less a defining thread then an abstract angle.
I do not care what marketers say it is, because marketers believe a shooting brake to have 4 doors(AMG) or a Coupe to have 4 doors(BMW).

I don't think you understand how a contact patch works. If you are putting wider tyres on a car with a set weight, you are sacrificing longitudinal grip for lateral grip, because you'll have a wider but shorter contact patch (which in the end has about the same area as before). And the effect is even more pronounced with shorter sidewalls.
