From a marketing standpoint you would want to focus on the biggest demographic (Offense players) and give them more options. But from a game balance standpoint, you want to make extremely varied supports in hopes that each one will have some sort of overlap appeal to people who usually play other roles. That way it's less of a strain. Any random group of people is going to be banking on "Do we have somebody who actually enjoys and practices support?"

So it makes zero fucking sense that this game only has 4 healers. If someone who's comfort zone is Doomfist finds himself filling as support, optimally there should be a bizarro melee hybrid support hero he can play.

I mean last night galeadelade got lobbied into a match with an actual Gold SR player. And this morning I got lobbied with platinum rank players even though I'm Diamond rank.
