So, I did a thing
2015 GTI, DSG trans.
My question boys, and the VW community is so fucking jaded, how strong is this DSG?
I plan on doing a IS38 Golf R turbo swap, full bolt ons, tune, and running an E85 blend.
I've been told the DSG is incredibly strong, just have to worry about the clutches.

You can find the specs for the 6 speed and 7 speed on vws website, they vary but either way they're much weaker than the manuals. Nice car op, good choice.
Funny, because all the VW kids with the standard trans complain they wish they got the DSG (auto) because they say its so bullet proof... Could just be fanboyism though (i am not a VW fanboy, I just got this car at a fucking steal from a dealership, 8k miles, paid 15k out the door)
this guy's been pushing 370whp on stock motor and dsg for a while. Run on the strip and track many times and its been holding up fine so he says.
At most you will melt the clutches witht a modest power bump, significantly increasing power may have other issues. Kinda gay tho i would have gotten a manual. Drove it and its way more fun. The car is slow either way so not much point, and the 50k service, eh just give me one clutch, an extra pedal and a crunchstick
Just get one of the new(ish) to market DSG tunes. They help with holding power.
Some of the tuners have been able to run quite a bit of power through the DSGs without any issues. IIRC like 400-450whp? Don't remember for sure.
A german tuning company pushed their GTI to 400bhp before the transmission shat itself.

dude unfortunately the VW community is full of SOYBOY faggots. VW people were bro tier circa 2004. now they are a bunch of fucking pansy's whining and afraid about every little fucking thing.
Be me.
>buy 2010 TDI
>DSG Trans
>plan to tune the car and have fun with the car after a few years of car payments
>Go to TDI forums.
>98% of TDI community be fucking faggots whining about fuel pump issues and DSG issues. Literal 1 in 2000 problems. Still whining and bitching endlessly about "scheduled maintence" or apocalypse.
>TDI scandal happens.
>Soyboys screech even harder now. Like all the faggots and battefront II right now.
>literally cannot have a discussion about tuning a TDI becuase 100% of online community is sperging out and having Soyboy outrage meltdowns.
>faggots complain about VW and environmental damage-meanwhile TDI scandal didn't do shit the environment and is still way less than any truck.
TFW i got rid of the VW and got into a Honda.
lol the DSG can hold like 500bhp or something retarded like that. unless you're doing motor work or doing water/meth, it wont be an issue
>buying a recent econobox
>automatic
kys.
There are many dualclutch trannies in VW group cars, from 6speeds to 7speeds, from dry clutches to wet clutches. Go to wikipedia DSG page, there is list of trannies and go by code of your particular tranny - there is certain torque limit for each model of DSG, so go figure. Going over that ammount is always a lottery, is your tranny made on monday or tuesday? Anyway, yours should be wet clutch design so maybe think about adding some fans to the cooler (iirc it is on front right inside bumper, fairly small) and you should be a'right.
Anyway, as with most power mods, people are more concerned about doing things to the engine than to what gets that power from engine on the road. Then they are surprised when they run out of mods budget and suddenly rest of car starts falling apart... and then they are surprised on the club meetings that they are not the fasterst around because some other asshole spent that money on brakes, tires, swaybars and proper shox, had it tuned for handling...
Your car, your money, your responsibility and in the end, your problems. Don't blame VW if it fails. Blame only yourself.

2015 was the first year of this generation, so it has some problems, all of which were ironed out in the 2016.
Still a good car, but the 2016 perfects it.
Never buy the first year of a new generation. Even Honda has problems that are addressed the second year.
always buy post-facelift models... if you can.
Facelift is 2018.
The 2016 fixed issues with the cargo cover rattling like death, replaced the proprietary audio connector with standard USB, and upgraded the infotainment system so its a lot more responsive.

nigger you what
fuck. got it backwards.
7 speed is bad
6 speed is decent
I'm waiting for the 2018 GTI to come out before I go for one, looking at getting the SE.
When is the release date for it? I still can't find any solid info about it.
why would you buy a boring econobox? get something interesting.
>15k out the door
Where are you from ?
