that is a legitimate show car. Which has never touched a race track.

or anything in that era of DTM

I get the feeling that neither of those cars have ever been on a track.

That car has a new engine now also it is red.
>6 second street legal car

It wasn't exactly stillborn, just never sold manu, they built 15, 14 of which survive today and they were road cars. I've seen 2 of them and remember the guy who crashed and died in the missing car. He's dropped the TTV8 engine out of his holden ute into it and it was silly fast.

The DAF TurboTwins for the Paris Dakar Rally which reached their techological and tragic culmination in 1988.

Imagine topping out your world class rally car on the desert floor and getting overtaken by an 11 ton, 150 mph brick with twin 11.6L engines, combined 2400 hp and earth-ripping 9500 Nm.

youtube.com/watch?v=cUnWnx_rdps

One of the two trucks in the 1988 rally somersaulted at 100 mph and killed the navigator, prompting DAF to retire from rallying.

Here it is, can't remember how much HP it was making, same plate as his ute.

1939 Mercedes-Benz T80. Powered by a 3000 hp V12 fighter plane engine. Mercedes-Benz had previously already built several world record speed cars, but WW2 broke out just as the T80 was being finished for trials, and so it was never raced. Projected top speed was up to 750 kph or 470 mph.

Forgot pic

Man can you imagine the gonads on the guys that drove shit like this.

i think this one had 1160hp

legit never knew about these or heard of them before. pretty cool

Damn those things were cool.

I'm still amazed by how much effort he put into not caring.

not nearly as big as mine, i drive an auto hydunai and shitpost on Veeky Forums

>Audi 90 IMSA GTO and Porsche 935 were the first two posts
Welp, guess I'll have to post a 208 T16 instead.

>7.7 Litre V12

>ywn have a pipe organ on the back of your car

>designed before down force was known
this thing would have become airborne

What were the cars with the vacuums on the bottom?

>>designed before down force was known
You know there were planes flying about in 1939 right?

Yeeesssss
100mm shorter than a miata NA

>Estimated at 1000 HP
I thought it was that the dyno couldn't read over 1000hp, so they couldn't get an accurate reading.

Well the 3.6 ended up making 350hp in road trim, so even at the same level of tune the Speed 12 was going to make at least 700hp but given that it was originally a sort of homologation special you could expect a higher state of tune than that.

Brabham/chaparrel
Lift was known, downforce/venturi less no.

You know what downforce is right?

So crazy it literally cannot be built (yet)

Nigga the fact that I mentioned venturi should be enough to confirm I do.

forgot the specs
>just shy of 2700 hp
>943 ft. lbs. torque
>6.9 L V10 which revs to 15000 rpm
>1650 lbs.
>top speed of over 400 mph
>uses pneumatic-powered panels to assist high-speed braking and yaw control
>in theory it would require a g-suit and 9 mos. of testing to become a proper driver

Then what makes you think the process was unknown?

Perhaps you're confusing me with someone else.
Lift/vacuum/venturi/angle of attack was known, but underbody aero was not implemented until the 2nd half of the 1900's. IIRC, Lotus pioneered this.

Yeah fair enough, the original comment which made me blink a bit was someone saying downforce was unknown, my thoughts were they may have had trouble implementing it effectively without nerfing top speed but it sure as shit was known about.

>""""""""""""""""""""""""""""street legal"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""

Yeah for sure. Ground effect and high velocity/low pressure took a while to integrate into racing cars.

Bruh is that guy at 4.10 the dead feller?

kek I remember driving this in GT6. was neat

Looks like it

Can't find pics of the yellowbird I had saved in my pc.
Also, of that Audi quattro drift car, or an RS4, A4, or something, can't remember, anyway it's a norwegian dude who does awd driftan like a madman, the audi has the radiator on the back.

>the audi has the radiator on the back.
This one?

Juj.
Meant this one speedhunters.com/2012/07/you-know-that-one-audi/

man you gotta be runnin some stiff ass suspension in that thing to keep it from bottoming out at like 30mph

bet it can drive upside down ez

>6.9 L V10 which revs to 15000 rpm

what would you have to make a crankshaft/rods out of to withstand that

>inb4 diamonds meme

...

Pretty sure they tested each bank individually at around 500hp after the full 12 literally broke the dyno.

>no mention of the 917/30 yet
Can't get much more crazy 1500 HP per tonne.

damm, what r theeeese
wrong thread, kids

wow, you leave me with the privilege of mentioning the 350km/h F1 car with an Alfa 164 bodykit

So crazy it killed a race series.
Fuck yeah

yupp, that was can-am racing, sometimes even faster than the fastest F1 cars

...

>Yellowbird
>not a madman mobile

You just picked all of the ones that didn't look like racecars, didn't you?

No mention of the Pikes Peak Tacoma?

youtube.com/watch?v=Rr0oANzTJcE

>downforce/venturi less no.
nigga there are venturi effect using pumps and siphons on fucking WWII ships

Viper is still better than this performance wise, I dont get the big deal about it.

I love the alfa 164 procar
