What's your used car cutoff year?

What's your used car cutoff year?

on which end?

i dont have one. i just refuse to buy german

1990-2005

nothing good has been built since 05'

2008 or older. Nothing good came out of cars either technologically or regulatory since 2009. Not sure on maximum age, I have little experience with really old used cars and would have to test the waters. But I am regularly looking at up to 25 years old cars in the ads.

bout 1975ish...i was 10 in 75....

try 2002 sweetie

1899

I usually use 1970-1999 as my CL filter. anything older is either rust or way out of my price range, and nearly everything newer is shit, and also mostly out of my price range.

It really depends on the manufacturer and type of vehicle.

Cars: 1988-2006
Trucks: 1975-2006

try 1938 sweetums

Unfortunately it has to be no older than 2000 or so for a daily driver at this point. I love 90s cars as much as the next guy, but my latest experiences have got me questioning their worth. Worn out wheel bearings, axles, leaky heater cores, random hoses, fucking speedometer cables making noise, windshield wipers going out, etc. Nobody should have to deal.with that annoying shit. It really takes away from the fun. Fun for a project car, but I'm having a hard time tolerating this stuff on a daily.

2014. Anything before 2014 is old to me. As far as classics go, the year isn't a factor but apart from that I don't drive old cars.

It was like 1991 3 years ago, now its about 2010. Got more money and a better job

XXXX-1989

I live in the rust belt and 3/4 cars older than 2000 have loads of rust, so I'm extra careful when buying anything that old. Don't really have a cutoff year though.

If it's made after 2000 I don't want it

1970-2000 for most examples
2000-2010 for exceptions (corvette, gto/g8, ctsv, etc)

I wouldn't buy anything newer than '07 model year.

1991 oldest
2012 newest if it doesn't have any cameras or sensors, 2008 otherwise

Hard cut offs are stupid.
It depends on the car entirely.
And any cutoff will have the same model made before it.

Basically I want 1980 -2000.
But I can think of plenty of 70's and 60's cars I'd take.
I like the idea and design of 20's and 30's cars.
I'm sure there are plenty of 40's and 50's cars that are cool too.
And there are cars after 2000 that I'd take, but generally I think the best cars were made from 1980-2000.

This
I prefer 80-90s but I'd take a scirocco r in a heartbeat

Srt4 and new edge mustang

OBD-II

fpbp.

personally wont buy a car newer than 1999. or older than '66.

Nailed it buddy. This was the peak of the petroleum powered automobile. So many absolute gems from these years

1960-1980

no newer than about 1997

1900

Snap.

Is correct.
There is no hard cutoff.
It’s mostly a matter of condition.

I personally don’t have a cutoff so much as I have a gap.

>2000
>1960
Skip anything between 60 and 45
>1945
>all the way back until 1925

The 50’s and it’s lead up was just fucking ugly.

>The 50’s and it’s lead up was just fucking ugly.
>what is the 51 oldsmobile
>what is the step-down hudson
>what is the 1956 packard caribbean
>what is the 1956-57 lincoln
>what is the 1957-58 plymouth
>what is the chrysler 300
>what is the continental mark ii
>what is every desoto, ever
Nigga, what the fuck is wrong with you? Yeah there were some hideous cars that came out of the 50s but there were also some fucking masterpieces.

2009

the cutoff of the takata bullshit in my country

2005 if i'm looking for pure reliability, i.e. having absolutely no problems immediately after purchase

1995 if i'm willing to poke around a bit

1975 if i'm going to rent a goddamn warehouse full of tools and equipment

I'm not Lyft or Uber so I actually don't care.

1986-1994

1950

I don't buy cars older than 2010

>2005
>no problems
Lmao m8. If it's 10 years plus, you're gonna have issues. Even new cars can have shit reliability.

1980 - 1999

Anything newer than 1967 is just a no-go

For a shitbox DD, I try to look for stuff from 1990-2005 since their not too old and hopefully cheap. Don't have any limit on a project car atm since I've never had a project car

1930s-2002ish
Primarily stick to early 80s
My 2010 Yaris was an exception.

Anything under 2006.

Don't have one, I'll drive a car from the 1900s if it runs fine and doesn't have too much rust

hello gramps

Underrated post

I draw the line around 1979.

Legit 1984 - 2003
Ideally 1996 - 1999 if I want the best reliability and efficiency.
Anything else is wrong.

I would probably say for the newer end I cut it off at later 2000s. Some cars even as early as 05 because the new ones have gone to shit.

I can’t really say too much about older cars. The oldest thing I owned was a 1987 Chevy Celebrity and I loved that rusty piece of shit.

If it doesn't have a carb it's undrivable.

Stop hurting the poor bus.

500 km

1989, can't have any of that faggotyass new car shit

1769-2017
Fuck being a year snob
