I think it still remains to be seen what kind of year 2017 is for Sonic. Mania will likely be great but I do not trust them or Forces.

Mania has a very, very low probability of being awful however.

Like, it was obvious he wanted to make his own story and used what was then a relatively blank slate to do it, but why still now. He coulda rebooted it as humans.

I can't say I was a huge fan of her character, but out of all the preboot characters, Julian was atomised twice, Scourge was Pendered before his next big adventure, but both of those seem almost kind next to what this character has become.

I never minded Penders' writing on the main book, but his ideas for the Lara-Su Chronicles and his art in general really leave me wondering what happened to him. He had creative drive in the main book; he made half the mythology the later writers used. So why does this story seem more derivative than his other work on the Sonic comic?

I've read a few /sthg/ fics. One in particular I've read several times and read again every now and then. For me at least, it's a matter of content and how it's written. There's not much that interest out of what's been written.

Outside of N-Sane Trilogy which is already out: Fire Pro World, Mania & Forces. Don't have a Switch but if I did, I'd include Odyssey. This is the first year in long while I've been interested in so many games.

I'm sure Aaron and his team sift through various sites where Sonic fans congregate, although their actual level of influence within SEGA is pretty small. Though with recent events where Iizuka and Aaron appeared together, it seems like Sonic Team might be receiving more fan feedback, whereas in the past I doubt anything actually got to them, just SEGA executives who ignored it anyway or completely misinterpreted market feedback.

I actually think Aaron is more of a normie than what he lets on. Gene on the other hand I'm certain has come here.

You got the right game, they just usually have more than one character you play as. No Russian was an undercover agent, and Ramirez was a soldier defending against a Russian invasion that happened in part because of the events of No Russian.

They both die though. Most of the playable characters in that game do.

I would love to know how little this place's opinion is worth. Like, I can't imagine our thoughts would have any impact here.

Sonic is for children, then they grow up and start being edgy teens and pre-teens wanting to play COD and other FPSes because they're "mature" and "cool" (read: have a lot of shallow violence and swearing)

Still pretty popular with kids though, at least based on my anecdotal evidence seeing kids with Sonic shirts and things people have told me. I've got friends who are teachers, and they'll sometimes mention to me when they hear students talking about Sonic.

Classic Sonic being from another dimension makes me feel a little better about Iizuka butchering classic Sonic's personality in order to sell cute merchandise.

It's important to remember that Sonic is one of those series that has very different reputations among normies vs. nerds on the internet. Normies and kids won't necessarily know or care about all the memes and hate the series has garnered since 06, because these are just old jokes trumpeted by gamer culture websites, which normies don't visit.

Now, now, Aaron said to wait until the game comes out before making any assumptions on Classic Sonic. Him "being from another dimension" could just be due to time travel nonsense.
