I've been exclusively playing gekokujonew since I got this game a couple years ago. I try to play other mods but I can't get into them.

yea I've played that for a little bit but user kept updating it. Is it done? Does it have the same amount of large armies as gekokujonew?

yes, it is. Perisno have a really big variety of factions, items, unique spawns/events,etc. overall, is a great low fantasy mod. you can check my run posted in the last /mbg/ threads.

there is only 3 bad things about it:
>army sizes too big
some armies, garrison and events are just too big. the funny thing is at late game, they are ok even being this big. but they are still a pain in the ass + performance issues if you dont setup properly
>art/models from giants and dorfs
its not good, pretty low quality compared to the rest. dorfs are the next update focus.
>economy
can be easy exploitable when you know your shit

they have the best archers, they have horse archers, decent both infantry and cavalry and also cavalry that can be recruited from peasants which isn't common.
They're not lame at all

Their Rangers are awesome but I was really dissapointed by their horse archers, and their infantry was a little too weak for my liking.

I find PoP major factions pretty boring and not enough unique, but I will try it anyway I guess

Having disposable-ish peasant cavalry was a pretty big + for me. Nobles don't come cheap

True, I guess I was just a little sad because I had this vision of destroying people with a big pack of mounted archers since I read that their Mounted Rangers were awesome, but when they were garbage I got demotivated.

It didn't help that their map position was incredibly awkward when at war with both the Sarleons and Fierdsvain.

I think the main reason why geometric designs are considered standard issue for dwarfs is because of earth, crystals and gems having natural geometric patterns.
As opposed to the elves, with more curved designs
