desu this isn't really anything to be proud of in DEI

as much as I like some of the changes in DEI the combat is just babbytier difficulty unless you are fighting some of the more broken factions/units (sabean nobles). TT&T/4tpy makes it worse since it is easy to get a general that gives you infinite ammo or absurd melee stats

Rome is back and they've found a town I can't quite make it to with my backup army this turn. If the garrison puts on a decent showing I should be able to retake the town on the next turn however.

I know, it's more about keeping people posted on this campaign. There's at least a few that have been following along.

Okay found out I have some crossbows I can recruit from sicily, how useful are these, I'm currently running three baelaric slingers and 1 libyjan javelinmen and 3 stonethrowers as my missiles, shoiuld I replace them for these crossbows or reduce hoplite numbers

What's the best faction for withering volleys of fire arrows at night in M2 if I am morally and philosophically incapable of playing as the English in strategy games?

That is an unholy amount of falxmen.

In general DEI is easy because kill rates on frontal engagements are low and armour is very strong. This, along with the slow pace of combat, mean that you have a lot of time for flanking and focus firing units down.

The AI also sucks at doing those two things unless it heavily outnumbers you.

For that battle specifically it was quite easy because their army came in two waves.

The first got mulched by my main line while my cavalry distracted the second half, separated and killed the skirmishers then shot the remainder to death.

If I'm running around with Dismounted Latin Knights (Saracens) and massed Camel Musketeers, there's nothing wrong with going full Hollywood.

The game is made for this, just look at the entire Scotland faction.
