Ace Combat General #322 - /aceg/

Good job.

This was actually an idea from another user some threads ago, but how would you see an Ace Combat game with a dynamic campaign where you command a fleet that has at least an Aigaion-like carrier and you have to take back your country?
You'd have a tactical layer where you'd move your fleet to do missions/hide from the enemy/contact and recruit allies that survived the enemy offensive. The campaign being dynamic means that while you re-take a piece of land the enemy might capture another zone, so the map would be constantly changing. If we want to go full XCOM it could have pilots management, meaning that you can choose the plane and loadout of each member of your flight, organize squads, choose who'd come with you on mission as support, etc. Perhaps even deploying the carrier as support, but it'd make a mighty fine target for the enemy, resulting in having to defend it while trying to complete the mission objectives and if it gets damaged you'd have to wait for the repairs before being able to take on other sorties.
Ideas? Thoughts?

I guess I was that other user. My pitch was literally just Wing Commander with an Ace Combat skin and gameplay though.

Good job on the expansions though. Not sure if I'd give the player the tactical controls though or if I'd just want a dynamic campaign à la IL2 or the like where the frontlines change depending on what you do.

I'd kill for complete control over the tactical layer, but I can see that some people might not want having to deal with strategy elements and would prefer just flying. I'd say that an option to let the AI manage the tactical layer may be good enough, with your actions still having weight on the outcome of the battles.

After completing mission 11 in AC4 I can't help but wonder why they didn't just use the Stonehenge to shoot down the civillian aircraft, they were defecting after all. The whole mission felt like filler anyway because it doesn't feel like it amounted to anything. It was a nice breather level regardless.

It'd be cool to have to pay for fuel and ammo in a harder mode I would say the same for N.Gen Racing, it's fun to earn millions per race, but there are no expenses.

pretty sure it was in one of the E3 vids they mentioned customization of your planes to a limited extent in SP to maintain the serious manner of the story and full blown in MP

And now I just realized that weapons can't be turned off for the racing modes after the trainer class in NGen. What a shame, I was hoping it'd be just racing outside the arcade mode.

Racers lobbing missiles at eachother just looks silly to me still.

if im correct, its likely he just used the HD pack to work off, found the XFA file and modified it in paint or photoshop

Dunno, you probably could try hacking up something with stuff like Ninjaripper, but I got no real knowledge of such tools and possible applications.

Any tips on how to do the Aigaion mission in AC6? The Strigon team is impossible to shoot down, and they eventually machine gun me to death. I even tried using QAAMs to no avail.
Shoutouts to 20 minute missions without checkpoints by the way.

Rocket launchers if you want to make the battle trivial

A10 with faeb to cheese the bigger craft
Use the command points gained from that to have everyone attack strigon.
Take out the stragglers using the [shoot] mechanic

A-10 with FAEB.

Any plane with rockets. It's cheap as hell to take down the big ones like this, with proper timing you can sink a whole Kotos with a single rocket salvo when the engines become targets.

Compared to Oslen in the 3DS game, the guy that handles the briefing/debriefing in 4 is just so uninspiring. I don't understand why they couldn't have just used Sky Eye for those segments since he's been your buddy since the start. There's no real feeling of urgency just a description of what to do.
