I'm convinced it's some strain of contrarianism, since Sonya has similar stats but also a 5 spd lead on Julia and a better prf if you're not fighting dragons, which I haven't seen any of in arena outside of the occasional meme team or Ninian.
Of course, the best green mage is Cecilia so it's a pointless argument.

There's merit in the first statement, at least. I do prefer my Sonya to Julia, but I can agree that if I were to use a mage strictly defensively, I'd choose Julia.
