Doing basic maintenance is a good start.

Any idea how easy these things are to remove? I've been debating putting a V12 Bi-turbo badge on my supermini.

LS1 swap

Skip the cheap mods. Just take care of your car and keep it clean.

just 2 nuts. you could remove it with pliers but i superglued mine so it stays in permanent

Maintenance. You're throwing away cheap hp by not taking care of your shit. Think spark plugs, fluids, air filter, tire air pressure.
Wheels+tires
Unchoke the intake, particularly if it's a tiny car (our euro a segment ones always are)
Port + polish
Exhaust
Delete if applicable: egr, dpf, (pre-)cat(s), PCV-to-intake lines
Install a catch can
Lighter pulleys (miniscule gain)
Lighter flywheel
Unfuck the fueling
Some noice seats

All but the last 3 are pretty cheap to do if you're willing to get your hands dirty
