Here are the basics on how to be good at this game:

1. Teamwork/Communication: The team with the better teamwork and communication will always win! Even obvious things like ult-kombos win matches. Always communicate clearly. Praise if someone does something good. Never shit on someone for any reason. Mentality wins games. Keep track of enemy ults. Are they propably ready? Tell your team!

2. Positioning: Highly overlooked! Always be in the perfect postition depending on the hero you play. Try to find out the perfect angles and corners of a map.
3. Timing: When and when not to use an ability or ultimate. Also remembering what abilities of the enemy are on cooldown or what ults are probably coming at you soon and communicate that to your team.
4. Targetpriority
Learn what your hero is supposed to to at any given moment in the match.
5. Know your enemy
Learn in detail what heroes you don't play can and can not do.
6. Maps: Learn about the maps, big and small healtpacks and routes for your favorite heroes.
7. Learning from your mistakes: If possible record your matches and watch them. Analyze what your biggest weaknesses are and work on them.
8. Asking for help: You can always ask the people in these threads for help, but try to offer informations about your rank, hero stats, etc. You will probably get memed on, but there are some really nice guys and girls around here.
9. Watch pro-player with an analytical mind. You can ask us for their channels if you don't know any.

This is what happens when a game is starved for content.

First thing you want to do is find a character you're comfortable with mechanically. Use them to settle in. It's recommended you try to have one tank, one damage dealer and one healer you're comfortable with before too long but this isn't a huge thing when you're just starting out. Try every character out, there'll almost certainly be one that feels "right" for you (for me it was D.Va).

In starting casual play you generally want at least one tank and one healer but you can always try more.

General things you want to do are
- Stay with your team
- Know your role
- Don't be afraid to change heroes mid-game (but do consider what that means for your team if you're switching from the only tank to a damage dealer, for example). Hero switching and counterplay is a big part of the game later on, but not something you have to actively worry about now.
- Play the objective

If you have any specific questions people will probably be happy to answer them.

It's not even about big things such as Doomfist or Reinhardt fixes (and God knows how stupid it is to keep the fixes from going live only because they're part of a content patch).
Even the Lootbox thingie would be nice since right now there's no incentive to farm levels/buy lootboxes, since there's an event coming and I'd only get 5-coin duplicates.
