Because there's gonna eventually be two very expensive CE's in the exchange shop costing 1k MP each, so to get them fully upgraded will be 5k mana prisms per. The one I'm looking out for raises your bond level 5% per battle at base and 10% at full upgrade.

My expectations aren't really that unreasonable though. That image is the course of 2 years, so 5 a year. The game hands out about 300-500 summons a year if you do everything and login every single day, so it's by no means crazy. Hell you get 17 summons a month literally just for logging in and doing the weekly challenges / buying the monthly summon tickets.
