Does MH have something akin to rock papers scissors? I took on a Rath with Bow for the 1st time, he got absolutely fucked. I've been testing out Bow after fags here keep memeing it.

Power bugs are viable regardless. Effect extender isn't double like in 4U and level 3 extract hunter has effect extender regardless of bug plus each bug has major benefits unlike in 4U where they mostly pertained to the bugs' attacks alone. There's bugs taht give you an extra AUL when you have red, bugs that give you CE+3 when you have white, the only bugs which aren't so great are the pure stamina bugs (the effect extender bugs from 4U, bilbobrix and ladytower), which just give you defence up with orange and mounting master with red (and longer duration on red and orange if you have the two together).

Weight also doesn't matter much when actually using brave, I've found. Generally the combo I use is XXAA, since A after any other A attack automatically does a STRONG kinsect shot (simply pressing A+forward does a regular shot, though pressing it again changes it to a strong shot- can miss if you use it too close to the monster though. The first A in the combo meanwhile calls the bug back, restoring a lot of stamina). So power, speed (for affinity up) and balanced (especially if you're using the new hunter art that makes strong kinsect shots hit several times) should all still be good, and stamina bugs should still be generally the worst in gen. Sadly, given that ladytower is the cutest buggo.

It genuinely isn't good, it's slower AND weaker than a poke and you still don't get contiguous SA frames if you XA A XA. Its main purpose is hitting monsters when you miscalculate and they end up to the side of you instead of in front of you while you're in a poke combo, to eke out a little more damage before repositioning. It serves a purpose because everyone makes mistakes sometimes, but it is more for shitters than not.

you're playing frontier, do you really need to ask?

there is literally nothing wrong with Frontier.

A XA A is the best combo online, and you don't really need super-armor when soloing, Feet is what you use.
