2 out of 3 rounds is nothing in comparison ie. tier lists mean nothing in tournaments

The only tier lists that matter are the ones made by JP/SK players, and they are for marathon sessions for arcades. In a best of 3/5 any character can beat another if both players are close in skill level.
Anyone who bitches about tier lists in tourney or online just need to improve more.

winning is not learning. As long as you learn shit even when you lose then that is improvement.

The tier lists you see tend to be based on very long sets (I heard first to 100, but I am not sure how accurate that is). The difference between a first to 100 and a first to 3 is in a first to 100, you have much more time to learn your opponent's play-style and gimmicks, meaning the character's tools become much more important.
