In EW higher difficulty I used to rush a MECs to help deal with thin men, especially for that mission where you need to escort back an advent soldier.
Would the same strategy work in LW?
Henry Sullivan
>get shot by ayy >Protected: 1 >panics Holy shit. Calm the fuck down.
Why is this allowed?
Alexander Sullivan
MECs are very expensive in LW, so you can rush them, but it's hard to pay for their upgrades and suits.

So, in one of the recent interviews Jake mentions a "new ending". Does anyone else hope that means we'll get some better cutscenes?
Nicholas Brooks
yes

Benjamin Gutierrez

Well it seems I gonna jump from CIV to this, one simple question: should I start with XCOM EU or EW or LW or simple go straight to XCOM2/LW?
Would you mind I sharing my play with you via SC? Thanks mates.
Jacob Barnes
I could not have predicted this outcome.
Though it is intriguing.
Charles Jackson
EW > LW 1 > XCOM2 > LW2
Ian Richardson
there is no reason to play EU over EW LW is way, way too difficult for a first playthrough
2 improves on many, many of the mechanics in EW so if you cant handle "downgrading" I suggest you do EW first
Isaac James
If you haven't gotten into the series yet, then starting with XCOM EW (which on sale you can get for like $10) is a pretty safe bet. If money isn't an issue, and you want to jump in to what everyone else is playing, then starting X2, WOTC is just fine. >SC Wat dis?
Noah Smith
Do not ever start with LW, LW is made for 1% "hardcore" audience, if you're new you'll just get rekt.
It's up to you whether you start with Xcom 1 or 2, if you start with 1 don't bother with EU, EW is just EU with more stuff, there is no point in playing EU.
Xcom 2 has an expansion coming in August, which will work similarly to EW. Sooo, you might want to play EW now, and then buy Xcom 2+War of the Chosen when it comes out and play that.
Cooper Robinson
Why isn't there a comfy anime about ayys coming to earth from all over the galaxy and trying out comfy human food?
Adam Young
what the fuck does comfy human food even mean you asshole
Mason Lewis
I don't mind losing or taking up a fight, I always play it the veteran/hard because I really appreciate not having me anything handle to me.
Might take EW first and then LW and then finally move on XCOM2 > LW > Expansion
Screenshot aka "see how bad I play it and mock me"
>screenshot aka "see how bad I play it and mock me" Oh yeah, carry on
Oliver Butler
Sectoid AI is really bad in vanilla. I know it's because they're an early game threat but still.
Zachary Martin
I do this in LW2 and it still happens. Sectoids are just dumb.
Matthew Scott
I find it odd that they sometimes take two movement actions in a turn while they're already next to you, and this sometimes happens on Commander. I haven't played Legend yet, pls no bully.
Landon Allen
I think its because theyre usually found in small pods so when you kill their buddy they immediately think "I need backup"
Nathan Gomez

I guess lump was feeling merciful. They always attempt mind spin vs me. One of the reasons I take revival protocol.
Also when they switched combat protocol and revival protocol I learned the value of medical protocol. Remotely wiping poison has saved my ass 10 times now.

Leo Parker
>Comfy psi learning
Jayden Sanchez
When you dominate an enemy they won't drop a corpse when killed. I think psi zombies exhibit the same behavior.
Sorry I worded that poorly.
Caleb Howard
Ok I get that, but what's the context behind bringing this up? I'm lost as to what you're responding to.
Oliver Edwards
>break los I usually just kill everyone in a turn or two (on Classic Ironman), does that count?
Juan Moore
I gonna get fucked I bet
Kayden Clark
>not using EU aim rolls mod
Leo Cooper
Someone said sectoids like to raise zombies because they're like "oh shoot I need backup." user 2 said "I need corpses" ftfy. I was under the impression they were saying that from the player's perspective, as though they'd get a second drop.
Elijah Baker
Ohhh.
Nah I'm pretty sure he meant that from the Sectoid's perspective, not the player's perspective.
Cameron Scott
Yes in retrospect it seems so.

So tell me can I heavily customise my Soldiers or that is something for XCOM2 also.... is ok to pirate the second game? Will it work with mods?
Lucas Kelly
if anything you shouldve pirated EW mods can still work but obviously downloading them straight from the workshop is 100% more convenient
Cooper Anderson
>So tell me can I heavily customise my Soldiers >heavily No >customize Yes
>XCOM2 also.... is ok to pirate the second game? Will it work with mods? You can't use mods straight from the steam workshop. You can try to ask where to get a pirated copy of X2 here, but your unlikely to get an answer. We don't have much of a pirate population, not since release
Josiah Torres
I know where to get the pirate game, just wanted to know if LW2 would work in a non-steam version
Already had the game from giveaway long time ass ago in 2015 but never played it.
Landon Nelson
You know, baraposter's screenshots made me think. The game needs a specialized healer class, and combined with the mod he uses we can have a unique one.
Using the AWG's Gene Therapy, you can make your soldier larger, with big pecs, and able to lactate nutritious healing milk and literally nurse injured soldiers to health during missions. Move either the medic or the injured person next to the other and they'll Hunker Down and the medic cradles the soldier who starts to suckle. It lasts an entire turn but during that time the soldier is covered and the medic has increased defense from Hunkering and the genetic therapy toughening his back and side skin, After that turn the injured soldier is fully healed and depending on the level of the medic and what upgrades he has other benefits for a turn or two after like regenerating health, increased melee damage, increased aim/dodge/critical chance, etc. And one upgrade lets the medic nurse two soldiers at the same time and confer the bonuses to healthy soldiers by nursing them for a turn.

Is LW a meme ?
Installed it to try it out, second mission step outside the landing zone immediately trigger 2 pods of 6 ayyys and a 3rd one "arrives" from the side effectively boxing the entire crew on the 2nd turn of the mission.
I wanted to make a playthrough before the expansion arrives for x2 but this is just dumb.
Ethan Bell
did you infiltrate to 100%?
Brody Brooks
>he fell for the LW meme
Ethan Barnes
Long War is for hardcore players, that being said, you need to wait until the squad infiltrates before launching a mission.
Noah Cooper
>2 pods of 6 ayys
try reading the information in the commander's quarters. You really need to infiltrate
Jose Sullivan
Here we go mates! Lets get ready for some memes and rekt moments.
Cameron Roberts
>implying you wouldn't nurse your hunky squadmate's energizing milk to get the power needed to slaughter the ayy menace
Henry Rivera
Both Long Wars are a meme. There is a reason MAGNIFICENCE is a thing. The primary dev of Long War wants you to lose and actively hates the fact that people are capable of beating it because he sees it as a personal failures and like they are beating him personally.
He changed a fuckton of the original Long War JUST to fuck over Beagle who was beating Long War on impossible. Do you understand the level of fucking cuntishness and childishness that requires? The FAQ literally tells you to get good and any failures are entirely your own. The creator is a massive cunt and it is a meme.
All of that said though it adds a lot of great things to both games. It gives a lot of depth to EW and X2 but it also adds a lot of bullshit because as stated before the primary designer behind it is in fact a cunt who can only get off if he is telling someone to get good.
I would still suggest playing it though.
Nathaniel Walker
does anyone actually use combat stims?
Landon Parker
its really good actually just not needed at all also the lack of zerker corpses in vanilla makes it even less likely to be picked up
Isaac Perez
good luck commander
Hudson Gomez
I never get enough beserker corpses to really use it. I kinda want to carry one on my assaults as an "oh shit" button, but it's too expensive to justify.
Matthew Gonzalez
Can't take screenshots with ShareX, what kind of bullshit is this?
Normal/Ironman
Cameron Hill
Maybe it doesn't have window focus? I take screens with the steam overlay so I dunno.
Charles Williams
I would if Berserkers would show up more often and not on missions where I can't collect corpses.
Joseph Walker
I guess you'll have to use Steam's screenshot function. It's one of the F# keys iirc.
Julian Jenkins
eh i used them a couple time desu they were complete letdown imo
Joshua Gutierrez
F12 by default
Jordan Turner
It works on widow mode... could be worse but still Hope normal is not to easy
Jack Taylor
did you try borderless windowed?
Blake Johnson
Maybe if berserkers showed up beyond once or twice total.
Jonathan Evans
>Hope normal is not to easy normal is the easy difficulty actually the game is balanced around classic
Connor Ortiz
I did now, works just fine! I might make a new game then
James Myers
I didn't know until recently that there was a t3 gremlin, because sectopods never showed up where I could collect corpses.
Gavin Cook

>using default squad names That's that one mod that adds fire emblem sorta things right?
Nathaniel Price
Only with the mod that removes the whole losing the item part
Bentley Bennett
Now this looks like fun, overwatch is both fun and fucking shit
Adam Collins
The Tank class can get an Overdrive Serum in their inventory for free once a mission, and it is delicious. Surprisingly good item, when you have frequent access to it.
Ryan Gonzalez
Also, /xgc/, does anyone have that discount code for GMG for War of the Chosen? I wish to give Jake my money like a good goyim but am poor with sick family. Is there a noble user who will assist a Commander in need?
William Gray
Early on try to go for as much meld as you can. By lategame it gets way harder to safely get it and it is needed for certain soldier upgrades that really can shake things up. Patience is key, but don't be complacent, there are several missions that will pressure you for time so you'll want to not be caught in one mindset for play.
Ian Price
Is that XCOM2? Man I want that custom options
Tyler Watson
Yes.
Jason Taylor
>Early on try to go for as much meld as you can. By lategame it gets way harder to safely get it It's usually the reverse for me. Early game, I'm forced to take it slow with my rookies, but after I've got some leveled soldiers I can use my preferred blitz-style tactics (on Classic difficulty).
