Why are the Templars so FUCKING COOL AND USEFUL?

pistols are not useful

3rd for psionics are op

Are multipurpose combat rifles useful?

All vipers must fucking hang

XCOM was always the villain.

I'm just a little bit salty tac sense is enemy only. Tank assaults would be better with it

Looks like carapace armor, yeah.

tac sense on a tank? you are better off stacking dodge and armor since the enemy always prioritises those with the lowest defense

They also like to shoot guys who are closer up.

Do they prioritise lowest defense or highest chance to hit? Since they're different. Can the AI see its hit chance if it moves a few tiles closer, for example?

I believe it's this mod
steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=917365196

Section 9 armor

pistols are useful

Jake said we'd need to maintain a lot more troops now due to the fatigue system, so how does everyone plan on organizing them?

I think I'll be grouping my soldiers up into half-squads of 3~4 men with complementary abilities, maybe even different tactics. The faction heroes (and sparks) could be in a reserve rotation to fill gaps or complement teams.

Just do what I normally do

>Gatecrasher gives 4 promoted soldiers
>Use 2 or 3 of those for the next mission, bring 1 or 2 rookies
>Do this until I have a solid base of soldiers that can rotate in and out with everybody being around the same rank and not having to worry about my "a-team" being out of action since there won't be an A-team

Vipers need a cuter curl up animation.

I hope they give you more starting soldiers to compensate

It depends on how heavy fatigue is. How many missions can we get through with it.

If it's like 3 before they are totally stressed then switch out half of the team on mission 2 and then the other half after mission 3 with swing spots for the faction heroes.

I imagine it won't be that bad so long as they aren't wounded so you can probably get 10+ missions out of them if you don't let them get harmed or panic.

How do we solve the viperfag problem?

I wonder if Solace is going to be altered so that is lessens the fatigue damage taken on missions. It would make Psi-Ops even more required for everything,

it makes that Will PCS more useful, I guess

I'd probably adapt pretty easily since between LW2's infiltration and ABA2 making injuries a lot more frequent I'm already used to using several squads and having quite a few reservists.

Early game will be a bit of a pain with the need to shuffle the few vets that I have but once I got a decently sized force it wouldn't be much of an issue.

are you some kinda vegetarian fag? get the fuck outta here

They already showed that after one mission it went from full to almost empty. This would vary depending on soldier will (yay, an early game use for all those will chips). But that the bar would fill back up in only a few days. So I expect that it won't be a factor in the early game that much, but later on when you have missions literally back to back and can't wait days, it is going to start being a problem.

So I will probably have at least 4 of each class and just shuffle them in as need be, with Hero classes and Sparks filling in various roles when I can. Sparks will be nice since they don't get tired at all and I just have to worry about their repair time instead.

I'd rather something like that for Medic specialists, imo. I never spec them medic since combat protocol, OP overwatches and such are just too good. Damage mitigation is easier to attain and less of a pain in the dick than damage healing.

That would be nice, something like Field Medic, but for Fatigue. Really the major issue will just be will. It's certainly going to make me reconsider soldiers with bad Will on my NCE runs. Higher will means less need for soldier switching and if you are in the early game will PCS chips are always piling up and sometimes soldiers just don't need anything else. I hope there are also other means to raise will. Like how Covert Actions can give you movement or health as well as a free promotion. That is also crazy.

It may be worth intentionally near-suiciding soldiers to make them Shaken. Curing Shaken also increases will, I believe. Not sure by how much, though.

HERESY

By like 20 points. It is certainly enough to justify it though I would imagine even someone with a full bar would go to zero during the middle of the mission. So in order to cure shaken, you are risking getting a negative quirk on that soldier and having to cure it.

Guess who's back, so I should get the container first right? MEC second

that sounds like a reasonable tradeoff, if youre doing so intentionally

its going to be a major bitch in the early game where injuries are practically guaranteed and you wont have a hospital to cure potential negative traits

Yeah, Shaken soldiers might get dismissed in the early game if it's too much of a problem to try to use them, or at the very least not used for a bit.

I bet that Covert Actions might be used to cure them too.

Fuck you, Viper is adorable.

Usually you want to rush laser and satellites.

> Laser
Guess I gotta search that

in other news... I am fucked? First Council Meeting

Losing Asia's continental bonus isn't too bad. You lose a potential of up to 4 engineers per month, but it's fine. As long as you keep North America and Africa in for the duration, without losing 8 in total, you'll do fine.

You have to research weapon fragments to get lasers.
>losing nations
Standard stuff. Doesn't matter till you get a game over. That's why you want satellites, to stop nations from panicking.

Yes I am building a Sat since America in almost in full panic mode

Vahlen is cute. CUTE!

>specialist with rapid fire
>trooper has the high ground
>decide to take two 50% shots at it
>first shot knocks out his footing, making him fall
>technically dont have LOS on him anymore but still take another shot anyway
>crit killed

She's a slut. A SLUT!

Calling Vahlen to your house RIGHT now user.

Vahlen is PURE. Archon King destroys any who would defile her. The entire human race must be purged because of the risk.

They're purple.

Fuck you.

Fuck you.

Yes.

Yes.

Fuck you.

THREADLY REMINDER THAT I AM THE _____________ MOST _______________ ____________________!

>Ayy lmaos climbing out of ever cover filling the fucking screen
>Throw some grenades so my squad actually survive the turn
>Vahlen: "Commander we should be trying to recover those artefacts"
>I'm sure all of the soldiers hate her ass.

Fuck this weirdo humanlike aliens

eat a dick

Just wait till the start spitting acid all the time.

...

Just lost my 4 best soldiers because they can snipe me through walls...

Actually just lost my second best sniper but say goodbye to Australia bonus...

In WOTC, we learn those things poisoned the water and turned the frogs gay and into zombies

I read that as
>I'm sure all of the soldiers ate her ass
and I got a little excited desu senpai.

>being into analingus
I get cunnilingus but that is gross

Thats XCOM baby!

I tend to split my squad: 2 trained, soldiers 2 rookies. That way I don't end up replying on 4 rookies when some horrid mission comes in.

Actually it was all 4 dudes

I actually like this game but is just fucking strange that they can snipe me through the walls and I miss 80% shots at close range

The best thing I can say about thin men is that they've somehow designed an alien that is legitimately a threat for most of the game
Fucking bastards

Game's fucking hard man. Probably your tactics are poor though, since EW isn't supposed to be quite this bad. Poor luck happens of course (and Thin Men are bad luck magnets) but it is probable that you are not playing well. Can you post more shots with your soldier's positions in future missions and describe your moves/thought processes better so that we can assist you in improving?

The child mod is never going to happen is it

>tfw savescumming
Haven't lost a single troop yet

You will probably be speccing them into medic more since your team comp will be more focused around supporting and keeping heroes alive.

I savescum during the portion of the game where stun lancers can insta kill anyone they please and I am not ashamed

Remember that you can get both sides of the ability tree now so it becomes more of an immediate 'what do I need now?' situation.

>stun lancers

What are Flashbangs and Suppression? They really aren't hard to deal with.

>all 4 dudes
>implying only 4 dudes
Get that squad size upgrade ASAP. Literally no other upgrade in the game can boost your combat effectiveness so drastically.

I do as simple as I can think just so I can learn, more like this:

I move two together, shotgun dude flanking, sniper in long range mostly in the back where Aliens can't hit him or in the Top Floor other two stick together just in case there is a emergency one as smoke another as medpack, shotgun dude as always a medpack also.

More or less like in the screenshot

>Suppression

Suppression does jack shit to lancers. They'll just run through it and a single overwatch shot will not be enough to kill them.

ADVENT usually runs overwatch if they know they can survive it

fuck now i want to replay xcom 1, i miss exalt

Anyone ever notice that the pod order for legendary gate crasher is always the same?
First you hit the three trooper pod.
Then you hit the trooper and sectoid pod
If you kll the trooper without killing the secotid, the sectoid retreats.
Then it is the two trooper and Captain pod
Every single time.

Pod anchoring was a mistake.

Collaborators should be shot on sight.

Not really sometimes you activate ALL THREE PODS.

You're spread a bit thin right now, unless there are some aliens in that building. Keep your soldiers close enough to provide fire support for each other.

> 100% hit change
> Flanked
> No cover
> Does 1 damage

Second Wave was a mistake bros.

Not really it's possible to activate the three or them or activate them out of order.

Actually, if you ever trigger the pectoid before he has any zombies to make you're likely fucked and better start praying he doesn't OHKO or dominate of your niggas

did you turn on damage roulette?
why?

>damage roulette
oh shit nigga what are you doing?

You turned on damage roulette? Nigga you went full retard, you never go full retard. Your campaign is probably just fucked.

Basically, the only time you want to spread out is to encircle and flank an enemy. If you can only fight an enemy with half of your squad, you need to fall back and regroup immediately.

>Not going damage roulette, epigenetics, hidden potential 100% and NCE on your LW2 runs

It looked like fun D:

Already started a new one

I'll try an E ...

Fun, heh, yeah

LW2 pretty much has damage roulette built in.

the only one I personally like is Hidden Potential
the rest are just designed to fuck you over

Uh no it doesn't.

Graze band isn't even close

It's probably very unlikely you'll be able to amass all the points for one soldier to get every ability in either side, unless you're playing a long game.

You get alot of the same effect (as in you thought you were going to kill someone and now your not). I now it's not the same, but imagining graze band + roulette sounds pretty funny.

>watch Templar's video
>mfw MISCREANTS

Rest in pieces best Chosen

Well I gotta sleep, 9 hours and I am back, full day ahead of me to play

its not even necessary either, theres only a handful of abilities that would actually be useful to have

Basically, you need at least three soldiers in a group to be really effective. So it's only after you've gotten the squad size upgrades that you have any sort of tactical flexibility.

In the example you gave, I would have had them stack up behind the door, and all move onto the building on the same turn. That way, if there were any aliens inside, I'd be able to kill at least one or two of them before they'd get a chance to retalliate.

>tfw vahlen is indeed the templars leader

r-right bros? ;_;

was that AoE effect from his dying zombies or did the attack emit some kind of psi wave?

Guys how the fuck do i get into sparks and mec troopers, their lack of cover gets me paranoid

smoke grenades/gremlins

I think it's the ghost dying aoe effect, it was shown in his inside look they explode on death/manual explode.

No Vahlen is in some advent facility being forced to make burgers

...

put a soldier out of cover as bait
