Be aware, Thargs are currently grabbing ships out of witchspace and giving out complementary rectal probings, it is advised you shoot the fuck out of them whenever possible, or just go with it if that's your thing, I ain't tellin you how to live. Apparently the Ayylmaos are rumbling again, inquire within if this means goddamned thing or if its just Braben trying to scare up some more money.

tumbril

A kind of medieval torture device, later associated with a cucking-stool.

Finally, some shitposting to keep the general alive. I hope this Cyclone is the "gamechanger" Ben and CIG keep pedestaling.

Apparently "Sherman is working on a Cutlass variant". Does that mean the Red or Blue? Or another variant that hasn't existed yet?

i think its the blue due to the bubble canopy

Do you know if the Cutlass Blue is an upgrade in just components over the Black? Or is the Blue like the Super Hornet, which has hull capabilities to fit larger power plants, shields, etc. (while also having better components on top of it).

If the Cutlass Black and Blue have the same hull, I have no reason to upgrade my Black, as I can earn my components. But if there are hull differences that prevent a Black from equipping everything a Blue can, I'm getting a Blue.

It's similar to why there's no reason not to go Hornet to Super Hornet, because the SH is a hell of an upgrade, and it has a slot for a bigger powerplant size and a 2nd seat, which the regular Hornet can never upgrade to.

Hi, I'm a faggot roleplayer and I want to use one of those voice packs

Is there an upload of Astra somewhere or do I have to pay for it

Does anyone play Elite Dangerous? I like it

me desu

Retard question here, since I'm new.

How does exploring and discovering new systems work in E:D? As in, discovering it for the first time ever, and getting your name on it. How does it work when new systems don't load if you're in supercruise?

no idea sorry, I would err towards it being like the super hornet though

>go to new system
>scan bodies nobody has seen before
>go to some space station
>sell your exploration data
>your name is now on the previously unknown body
what ship and jump range?

I meant, how do you find new systems? That's a thing, right? Or is it just bodies in the systems, while all the systems have already been made discovered?

If it is a thing (new systems being discovered), I don't get how that can happen, when you can't supercruise from one system to another.

I've been using a type-6, with I think a 15 ly jump range, but for exploration (I haven't started it yet, just interested and will absolutely do so later) I'm definitely planning on upgrading to something better, once I have enough money.

Just because a system is known doesn't mean someone has actually been there/scanned it

You just open the galaxy map, set a goal, then plot the longest route possible in that direction. Remember to filter out all non-KGBFOAM class stars so you can fuel scoop every star on the way. The further away from the bubble you are the bigger the chances of finding unexplored systems. I've got my name on several bodies, can't name them though because I don't have the game open

Does this mean that all the systems are known and show up on the map, but it's just that only a fraction of them have actually been explored?
Or, is it that for a new system to become "known" someone had to have dropped into an adjacent system at one time, even though they didn't explore the new system?

open your galaxy map, zoom in on the middle of the galaxy and ask yourself:
"has there really been someone autistic enough to visit all these systems so far away from the bubble?"
theres billions of stars out there, the game will shut down before they're all explored

They haven't said yet and the fuckers probably won't until after the price bump. The current rumor is that the blue and red's special sections will be unremovable, giving them much less total cargo space than the back. So you'd likely get stuck with those useless cells in order to get the stronger max shield...

Or it could turn out like the starfarer gemni, where they just "forget" to give it a drawback.

Don't underestimate autism, user. I feel like this game, while great, and can be enjoyed by normal humans, is a perfect choice for autists who do nothing but stay home and play.

But thanks, this really cleared things up for me.

To directly answer your question, all systems have been on the galaxy map since the start of the game. There are no hidden stars. Exploration is about discovering what is inside the systems.

best ship coming through

I'm still trying to figure out what weapon set up I want on my python in ED, Just can't seem to find a set up that I like that feels powerful enough.

Right now using three pulse lasers and two railguns, and sometimes it just feels like I can't hurt a damn thing.

Are you autistic enough to do the math and find out how long it would take to scan every star?

Spoiler, we'll all be dead before we can scratch the surface.

>Buy game
>Install
>Configure joystick
>Half the buttons don't remain configured

Why!?

E:D or SC?

E:D

I dunno, E:D has my stamp of approval

I've had a similar problem in SC, it flipped my sticks for some deranged reason.

never had any issues in ED though. What buttons got dropped?

what stick are you using? are you quitting the game properly (through menu, not alt+f4 or task manager)?

...

CH Products combatstick.
I'm also experiencing a glitch where I suck at combat and they are always on my tail, how do I git gud?

Anyway the problem is not that serious as most functions I want on my stick are surprisingly working very well in keyboard.

Before the redesign, the Blue was a straight upgrade, and could mount a larger shield than the Black or Red

Post-redesign who the fuck knows

Has CIG said how police/other players are going to respond to distress beacons in high-sec systems yet?

I mean, even if the jump distance between two planets is only 60 seconds, that's still a huge amount of time. From the point you get interdicted, to putting up the distress mission, to someone accepting it, and flying their ship to you, it could easily be 2-3 minutes before you get help. Any combat pilot worth his salt will have you fucking dead way before then.

>ship built around a mechanic that's barely been prototyped
>best

Not much. They were looking at if you get jacked before some one comes to your aid a bounty will auto generate on the attacker. For places in "low sec" space they talked about requiring the recovery of a black box to report the crime.

The biggest struggle pirates are going to have is after the kill. CIG is going to require players to EVA and collect the loot/salvage. That could easily take more than 2-3 minutes.

CIG has no idea how interdiction is going to work yet, let alone distress beacons

it's still in the theorycraft stage

>The biggest struggle pirates are going to have is after the kill.
Unfortunately that doesn't help people survive an attack.

I can't see any way you could implement security in high-sec space without police auto-jumping in as soon as a crime is committed, which would be really stupid. Any other way, and you can have pirates/griefers relatively easily operating in high-sec space which would kind of defeat the purpose of highsec

Chris wants it to be like real life

There's nothing stopping you, but if you do something bad in "high'sec", there will be consequences.

I get that and I'm saying the consequences are inconsequential.

>not being able to dock anywhere is UEE space and having player bounty hunters on your ass
>inconsequential

>I can't see any way you could implement security in high-sec space

The current plan is to have wanted people light up on scanners in highsec. To counter this wanted people will need to spoof there ship ID and use fake credentials. but that will only get them so far and once they blow there cover they will need to buy all new IDs off the black market.

>doing math
>not just using muh third-party apps

How viable is a PvP cutter?
What guns should I stick on it?

The police force size and response time should be higher in highsec space.

Anything is viable for PvP... define what kind of PvP. Seal-clubbing, random ganks, organized PvP?
Guns are preference, but you can never go wrong with MCs.

This image is exactly why no one should worry about
>muh 5 star systems at launch
Because otherwise the game would feel like an empty grindy piece of shit.

I guess that's fair, but I don't think it'll really stop most people.

It's physically impossible for police to respond faster than a certain timeframe, which is what I was talking about earlier. Unless CIG just makes it really gamey and police magically autojump in.

Physically impossible nowadays maybe. In 2946 what would stop the police from having carrier patrols all over highsec waiting to deploy?

General purpose PvP with a friend/pirating.
I was more wondering about the PvP meta in weapons.

Because it literally takes time to get the distress signal, get in a ship, spool up your QD, travel, and cool down, and we know that, while QD times intra-system won't be huge, they won't be insignificant.

>Unfortunately that doesn't help people survive an attack.
Just like real police do fuck all to protect you from violent crime. That's why civilian gun ownership is so important.

Protect yourself instead of expecting big brother to protect you.

The authorities will avenge your frozen corpse.

Stop overrating of your piloting-skill, it won't be like Arena Commander.
In 2 minutes you'll have to reach your target because the interdiction may not be precise, everybody who pass by will be stopped by it (as last discussed) then you need to know if your target isn't better equipped and skilled than you.
You won't drop a shield in less than a minute unless you are ganking paurora with a star destroyer.
And what would you loot?

As said the Pirate need to gather the loots and shake off pursuit. Debris offer less loot, only salvage, if you can.
3 minutes is still far too short to board a ship and if you kill people while in the vicinity of UEE scan probes you'll get bounty on your head.

And once are a criminal, the only way to do piracy is to either destroy the Probes scan or fly in a new ship each time, or have incredible stealth that cut into your weaponry.

>I get that and I'm saying the consequences are inconsequential.
This guy answered you, but I'll add that CR love Pirate, by that he means he want them to be rare legend because PVP is the hardest things.
You'll only get easy piracy in low-sec null-sec system and if you want any loot you'll have to attack cargo ship with big shield.

You should seat down, you've been told a lot

>You should seat down, you've been told a lot
Now thats just arrogant and douchey.

Don't worry user, I'll be there to pick up your black box and whats left of your body.

>Stop overrating of your piloting-skill,
>your piloting-skill
I'm fucking terrible at dogfighting, m8

>anons discussing a game mechanic
>this faggot comes in
>HAHA SIT DOWN BITCH YOU JUST GOT TOLD
Fuck off.

Unless you want to grind powerplay for modules and engineers for upgrades, I wouldn't worry too much. The PvP meta is so fucked up and it's pretty much RNG like the rest of the game. You could find a newb with fuck all, you could find a murderhobo with some perfect fit. Just focus on flying skill and base your weapon selection around how you fly. If you are good, go with fixed weapons for max damage/no lock-break from chaff. Gimbals if you aren't confident in your ability to aim and fly. Turrets for multicrew (if someone can redpill me on turrets actually that would be dank).

Implying any mechanic in 'game' at the moment is more than a prototype

When will he hear about updates to fps mechanics/polish and dog fighting?

>if someone can redpill me on turrets actually that would be dank
Turrets are shit.

*In their current state, but it has been repeatedly said they being rebuilt functionally right now. Chris want ships to have manned turrets and he want turret gunners to be a thing, so I think its safe to assume that they will eventually be a viable choice, Chris's Autism is the final say in this game.
I for one really look forward to manned turrets getting buffed to the point of rivaling a small fighter in firepower, because that's what needs to happen for them to compete.

Should I buy Elite Dangerous?
Is it Euro Truck in space? Or is it more like TES: Milky Way?

>Should I buy Elite Dangerous?
No.

>Is it Euro Truck in space?
Yes

>Or is it more like TES: Milky Way?
lmao

Definitely more Euro Truck in Space, but now with less having to keep your eyes on the road.

don't die tomorrow is AtV

>I guess that's fair, but I don't think it'll really stop most people.

Chris doesn't want to stop people from trying to pvp in high sec, he just wants there to be enough consequences that very few people will want to

>it's an exploration ship that sacrifices range for armor and shielding
>it's an APC with no passenger seats
>it's a search & rescue ship without medical facilities
>it's a reconnaissance ship without stealth capabilities

The only niche I can see for the Terrapin is as a tornado intercept vehicle, and that depends on whether there will be any benefit to be gained from staying inside harsh environments.

It's going to be an escort NPC in Sq42, calling it now

How do I git gud at Elite? I always have them on my tail no matter what autistic maneuvers I do.

Turn faster

How?
Moves stick to the left to get in position to turn, move stick backwards to turn, I do that.

youtube.com/watch?v=HJ9SZyMukgk

Would you fuck Cherie?

Cherie is cute.

I just started a few days ago on PS4, love it. Can't wait until I can get horizons

BAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHA

DELETE THIS!!!

>implying the reduction of systems at launch to 5-10 has anything to do with 3.0
>implying anyone ever said sandworms would be in 3.0
>delaying an internal development target means IT'S DELAYED
Not only is this fairly disingenuous, I can't imagine why someone would go through the effort to make it in the first place.

>Crusader present in 2.6 but Yela isn't
??? If you want to say Crusader is in 2.6, then so are both Stanton and Yela.

I'd argue Crusader isn't in 2.6 and won't be in 3.0, either.

Is it really necessary to have a circle graph, a number, and two percentages for each thing? Infrographics are cancerous.

> joystick
> sc
Loled

Are joysticks good for anything besides immershun, even without interactive mode available? Isn't a mouse more precise?

I reverse and turn backward, but I've only been playing a few days.

It's easier to control your maneuvering thrusters with a stick than a keyboard, since keyboards are digital and stick are analog.

So will we be able to name our ships and callsigns and shit in SC?

do you think anyone from this general will ever own a capital ship we can all circlejerk on?

On the one hand, I want to be part of a pirate band with /scg/ or /edg/
But on the other hand we'll be so reviled because of our autism and inability to play with anyone but ourselves that we won't be able to do anything with anyone without having a bunch of other fags shitting on our fun, which will probably be us shitting on other peoples fun.

I just wanna fly around and expor

Pulse lasers and autocannons is fine.
Do you have engineers that can mod them unlocked?
Do those quests and collect the materials, you can get efficient or long range lasers and overcharged cannons. Your weapons will do 30-40% more damage for the small downside of more mass and power use. Also a change for cool bonus effects like incendiary rounds which makes bullets do thermal damage to shields or corrosive rounds which have debuff that makes hulls take 25% more damage from all sources.

10 star systems out of 100 star systems is 10%, not 0.25%.

Thank you, ever-vigilant goon-kun.

He's saying that 0.25% of the systems will be done in 3.0.

Then he should edit the infographic since 2 of 3 of the graphs are regarding 3.0 where as the 0.25% is regarding the full launch.

The infrographic is retarded and dishonest, yes, but it's not technically incorrect.

...

I actually just got some extra money to get Horizons, so I've not unlocked anything in the way of engineers, just saw my first one in fact.

I'm just trying to find something that has a nice balance of damage over time and burst damage, the idea being that I can deal out damage while I get close, then get some high damage in before the enemy gets out of my sight thanks to the Python's poor pitch speed. It's because of that bad tracking, which hopefully I'll be able to get better at compensating for, that leads me to believe that something that doesn't fully rely of eyes on target is the best way to do things.

>it's right but it's not right
star citizen is a cult

good post, I'm glad you made it.

They're making fun of us on /v/ again.
