On the other hand, I kind of have a love/hate attitude with plot in shmups. Gives me something to talk about with friends, like, "hey did you know this magical girl game and gritty giant robot game take place in the same universe?" Most of the time it's just forgettable, but in some cases it can fill me with bloody dedication, like with the ALLTYNEX games.

correction: maybe they wouldn't quit shmups but they would quit trying to 1cc, it's usually players well above average who "bother" with 1cc'ing, which is why it may seem to you that you are below average, but the truth is most people suck really bad.
