On the contrary, now Giftwrap is just a way to attach your name to something so people will know that it was a gift, instead of a way to try to circumvent the trading system.

That gift-mark also can be removed if the social connection is no longer valuable to the recipient.

So literally worthless, 99% of the people buying gift wrap did so to trade untradable items, removing the option just means less money for them.
