Bmw fanboys answer this

How come none of you guys would go for an infitinti q50? Bmw dropped all NA engines and now all have tarbos. We know bmw can't even build an NA motor so what makes you morons think they can do turbos now? Buy the fucking infiniti.

Its a Nissan...

so what?

Every 3 series I see now is a 320i x-drive lease special without even a fuckng sunroof

I work on Nissan, wouldn't own one with stolen money.

I would not buy either of the cars pictured.

T. guy with a BMW but NOT a "BMW guy"

Automatic luxury Nissan. Nah.

I wouldn't go for either

BMW has had 10+ years to perfect its turbo engine its using now, while Nissan hasn't made a new turbo engine since the 1990s.

The Nissan drives like shit. No steering feel and automatic only, not a enthusiast's car, and the worst ownerbase possible (hoodrich retards). The BMW will rape you on lease/financing.

The only luxury car I'd get is a Lexus RX350. At least its comfortable and Lexus pretty much gives you complementary blowjobs at the dealer.

Elaborate?
I'm looking at a G37/Q50 over a 335i/340i because I don't want to deal with the German planned obsolescence meme, and because modern BMWs look bland as shit.

>because I don't want to deal with the German planned obsolescence meme
So you want to deal with the Japanese planned obsolescence meme instead?

I wasn't aware of that, or at least it not being as bad as Germany's.
I just want a comfy RWD 6-cylinder sedan that doesn't drive like shit, isn't too expensive, is fairly reliable/low maintenance. I hate how newer IS350s look, and older ones look bland.

>I just want a comfy RWD 6-cylinder sedan that doesn't drive like shit, isn't too expensive, is fairly reliable/low maintenance.
Honestly you should just read more about cars instead of making purchases bassd on autistic busrider memes. There’s nothing wrong with the new N55 engine, it’s pretty solid as compared to the N54 of the previous gen. It sounds like a 340i sedan is right up your alley if you care at all about driving enjoyment.

>I wasn't aware of that, or at least it not being as bad as Germany's.
No it's just as bad. Cars manufactured post 2000 have reached full disposability status. They are designed to go together quickly and efficiently in a factory and last until the warranty runs out. No attention is paid to cost of repair or ease of service/repair. Planned obsolescence is the rule not the exception in a world of built in satnavs that lose manufacturer support after a few years

My mom was shopping for an SUV and apparently the Nissans have such shit reliability the dealerships are practically giving them away but everyone she spoke to told her not to touch them.

Why the fuck is everyone talking about nissan. Pictured is an infiniti. I know they own infiniti but can you fucking sperglords at least do the research.

I’m quoting another user here: “Nissan is the FCA of Japan”

Full disclosure, I've never touched an Infinity, they've never really been sold here, mostly private imports. So they could be radically different to actual Nissans.
Nissan themselves though do a whole bunch of things I don't like and one of the major ones is the way they setup automatics and their obsession with shithouse "cvt" transmissions.

I’ve frequented some infiniti forums while helping a friend buy his first car and the biggest problem I kept seeing people discuss were failing transmissions. It seems like that shitty transmission thing extends to the infiniti brand as well.

Im pretty sure infinitis are cheaper than bmws to maintain. Actually I'm almost certain

If both are stricken with planned obsolescence, then wouldn't the Infiniti still be cheaper to maintain because it's japanese?

Nissans are as charmless and appliance-like as Toyotas, but without the reliability.

Heh, should be entered into the dictionary as the definition of Nissan.

are there any bmw fanboys on here that like any bmw made after 2008?

Do it. Unlike German luxury cars Japanese luxury cars are usually upgraded versions of their normal cars. G35 is a 350z with backseats and different interior.

Infiniti have fully computerized steering (AKA shit)

>Glorious N-series I6 vs VG-series V6 garbage, made my Nissan
Gee I wonder why
If Nissan went out of business tomorrow I wouldn't care.

"disconnected steering"

No

The only reason I'm a BMW fanboy is because they made the Z3

>yfw Audi's are just upgraded Volkswagens
>Lincoln's are just upgraded Fords
this idea isn't unique nigga

No love for Nissan here. What about Subaru or Mazda?

>We know bmw can't even build an NA motor

Uh the M2?

Im about to blow your mind, all cars are soulless appliances..... they are literally mindless machines that do what humans tell them to. The driver is what breathes life into a car and NEVER vice versea.

and i am about to blow your mind.

hitler was an artistic painter and architect.

he did what he did as a form of performance art and in retrospect.

>artistic painter
and you must be the autistic painter no?

i dont beleive in labels, but good one.

Ive never seen or experienced bad infiniti trans or even nissan trans and i live in southern cali(ricers everywhere).

>t. Owned a lot of nissan/infiniti in family

Nissan/infiniti are great, they get a lot of hate on here though

The M2 and despite all the hurr durr about size and weight, I like the 5 and 7 series since they're meant to be big heavy luxury barges.
I'm also a fan of the i8 but obviously not the i3.

E34/E36 for me.

Everything before and after I don't like.

>i don't believe in labels, but good one.
>Reply before uses a label
>The diagnosis is now full blown terminal autism, you have 2 months to live jimmy

>tfw E34 is finally get love

What about the old 6 series though? I love the sharks. I fell in love with BMW after seeing that 6 series in Moonlighting when I was a kid.

Is this what a Bmw driver looks like? Cant really see them since they usually tint their windows completely black because their afraid to make eye contact with any other driver.

Is that supposed to be a positive or a negative about the Jap cars? I really can't tell.
Though I imagine the platform sharing with Jap luxury cars means that maintenance costs will be lower.

well there's a story where i live here about infiniti, it's a infiniti m 2000 early model or something so the ecu/tcu were broken i don't know why how that happened but car were on garage for almost a year with no one helped even from infiniti itself. They owner asked some german/euro specialist shop to import ecu or some broken electronic module, my point being is maintenance cost will be expensive and spare parts will hard to come by maybe some VAG yes some of them are swapable like shock absorber/suspension. sorry for my bad english

>bmw can't make a n/a motor
BMW built the best n/a engine in automotive history - the S70 V12 in mclaren f1 you stupid shitter.

That meme is nearly 20 years too old

Old BMW engines were the second coming of Jesus.

Nissan along with Mitsubishi are among the least reliable jap manufacturers

>We know bmw can't even build an NA motor
What? Are you fucking dumb? The whole reason BMW got shit for going turbo is because their NA engines have been historically good until the last decade when BMW quality went downhill. BMW's engines were world class, the engines to beat, for a long time.

>Without even a sunroof

Northfag detected. The sun is fucking brutal enough why the fuck would I care to give it access into my car.

>No steering feel

Not to mention they are pushing for steer by wire so they can "isolate the driver from harshness in the road".

It's already known that too light a steering is bad yet they are taking it to another level.

>without even a fuckng sunroof
This is a good thing though.

The most desirable E30s are the ones without a sunroof because sunroofs suck shit, they're pointless weight and another thing to go wrong, plus pretty much every car to ever come with a sunroof is susceptible to rust there.

BMW is the best engine builder of the 20th century (and early 21st century)
Literally nobody could come close.

Even in the last decade they’ve made fantastic engines, the S85 and N52 for example

You know that sunroofs have an interior cover right?

They're at least better than American manufacturers, right?

>nissan
nty

What makes you say that? My last two cars have been Mits because we never see them at work, Nissans make up about 50% of our business.

MAYBE ITS BECAUSE THEY NEVER MAKE IT TO THE FIRST SERVICE HUE HUE HUE HUE CAPS LOCKS

>poorfag denial

>that paint scheme

absolutely disgusting

Nissans are mostly owned by niggers out where I live
Sometimes it has more to do with the owner class

I bet basketball Americans would love this

Because the infinity is a NISSAN and the BMW is a BMW. But you haven't driven either, so f off

There are no Nigs where I live and I'm talking 4wds, the workshop is a 4wd diesel specialist.
My own 15 years of ownership experience would disagree

Reminds me of of the song Scottsdale Bars.

>Nissan hasn't made a new turbo engine since the 1990s

You would think with all the GTR vs Corvette threads people would know who makes the GTR. Its the same engine family ffs

Fucking look at it

I was joking by the way. I mean didn't the hue hue hue give it away?

Infiniti is fucking trash. Only Japanese luxury brand worth looking at is Lexus.

I went to an Infiniti dealer to help a friend because she wanted to look at the damn SUV's. I saw one of the cars in white - the paint was so fucking thin I could see the grey from the metal in the C pillar underneath.

When we left the sales dude ran out the door when he realized we didn't leave our emails or phone numbers on the sheet of paper he was desperate for us to fill out and practically chased us while we drove away.

I would pick BMW over Infiniti any day of the week and I'm not a fan of BMW either.

bmw's are just better than infiniti,

>When we left the sales dude ran out the door when he realized we didn't leave our emails or phone numbers on the sheet of paper he was desperate for us to fill out and practically chased us while we drove away.

i'm guessing OP is one of those sales dudes

Infiniti dealership tech.

Ask me anything and you'll get the unadulterated truth

What's the build quality and upkeep look like for Q50s with the newer tarbo engine?
What kind of issues do they or G37s have that should tell me to stay away?
Why do Infinitis depreciate so quickly?

Depreciation, don't know.

I'm really leery of the new turbo engines. Since Infiniti partnered with Mercedes, the engineering has been tainted by influence. It remains to be seen how they hold up, but I doubt they will be as trouble free as the VQ engines. They may be okay though. Doesn't help that they condoned 10k miles oil change intervals, so pretty sure these engines will age horribly. And turbos are a proprietary design, they cant be changed out. So dont plan on picking one up in 20 years and making it a drift missile. Do not buy the 2.0L. At all. Pure rotting garbage. Fucking trash engines.

As far as the G37 goes, main thing I can think of is water pumps aren't a super rare failure item and they are behind the timing cover, so pretty difficult job for a novice and still pretty taxing for a decent diy mechanic. There's also an oil passage gasket on the inner timing cover (yes, theres two) that runs the variable valve timing solenoids. Infiniti was kind enough to make that out of paper and never update it even after they continued to blow out. Typically these two are done together.
Sometimes you get leaks from the rear coolant pipes, and the motor has to come out to replace it (do your coolant services).
Sometimes the head gaskets seep coolant to the outside of the engine. I've done them for that, but it usually doesn't cause a driveability issue.
And then other small items like vtc exhaust cam actuators and stuff can fail, they aren't hard to do but the parts are usually pretty expensive. Infinitis dont really like aftermarket parts either.

A lot of this stuff is due to poor maintenance though. Any car will have its own problems. I would feel comfortable owning a G37, they're generally good cars.

My boss has a q50 I've driven a few times, great engine, but the suspension and handling characteristics seem downright dangerous. I've never had a FR car understeer that badly. Also the auto trans is trash, takes literally a second or two to actually send power down the drivetrain after you step on it.

Its only acceptable if you're looking for an a to b commuter that is 'luxury'

Why do you keep misspelling turbo?

Infinitis are boring and I don't know of any that I can get in manual.

Dealership tech here. Have you seen the ideology and brand identity slogans for Infiniti? It's fucking cancerous garbage.

Because infiniti a shit and n55 is god tier engine.

please elaborate

Its called infiniti "total ownership experience".

It says stuff like "expressive and unique: expressive and striking, yet elegant production design"
"A human centric approach, a total ownership experience"
"Forward thinking technology that enhances driver capability"

It's the same kind of branding garbage that every automaker pushes to make a sale, except I have a specific contempt for infinitis bullshit because I'm here to fix their broken shit and they make me sit through this bullshit training like I actually give a fuck about their sales pitch.

So their sales mentality is ass?
How does that end up reflecting on their cars mechanically?

It doesn't.

>can't even build an NA motor

Literally every naturally aspirated i6 made by them will outlast damn near everything you can think of with regular oil changes. The rest of the car will dissolve but never ever the engine.

They still function well even with malfunctioning DISA, VANOS and Valvetronic units. You're off your fucking rocker m80.

My man

>Not opening your sunroof and blasting your music
>mfw when people look around or glare

To be fair, Infinity was the the first to bring a collision mitigation system that scans two cars in front of you.

m50 non vanos is so low maintenance it's ridiculous.

Go suck a fat dick you pathetic faggot with your chink "luxury" cars.
