How can someone be older than 12 and spend 30k+ for this?? I am not trying to upset anyone, just curious

Its so childish in my opinion

Because they have money, know what a mk IV costs, and decide they want one.

ofcourse they have money, but I mean there are so many better looking cars out there. Why settle for the one that looks like something you buy at toys ´r´ us

>know what a mk IV costs
If they're putting 30k, they clearly don't

that picture is childish

I always liked the soarer and Lexus my favorite 90s jdm

Well it isn't going to depreciate, so is arguably a better investment than a 30k brand new car, and a hell of a lot more interesting too.

ah. a man of taste and refinement.

Because if you actually did any research at all about 90's JDM cars, you'd come to find out that of the big 4, the Supra was the most well made and was made with good, quality parts all around unlike the Skyline, RX-7 and even the NSX in some regards. Go to the GT-R forums and see all the rust issues of the Skylines. Multiple JDM owners have at least owned 2 of the 4 and all say the Supra was the best in terms of reliability. It's as if it was a Toyota or something.

Genuinely bait. I feel bad giving you a (You).

These are real replies.

It's what happens when Toyota builds a car with literally no flaws.
>TTI6
>Targa
>Liftback coupe
Not to mention the potential for building it up to slay supercars.

You get to a point where you're a grown ass man and $30k is not an absurd amount of money any more. Then you start looking for a car that has classic looks, good performance, etc. That narrows things down. I mean, you can buy a new Camry or something instead, but that's not the point.

Supra is just a Yamaha engine in a pigfat soapbox

Guess you watched one of superspeedersrob's videos where he claims his is a collector's item and could easily sell for 6 figures.

>know what a mk IV costs
>anything over 20k for these stock with low miles

Fast and furious was a fucking mistake

Here's your (You).

Your existence was a mistake if you think 2001 was a magical point in time that would no longer allow a Supra to depreciate.

R34s and NSXs regularly go for more money.

look at prices for JDMs anywhere else besides america, tell me i'm fucking wrong

So now the blame goes from a movie to a country. What's your next scapegoat for not being able to afford it?

You're surprised?
Look how many idiots on this board would mortgage their souls for some shitty german car with a horsey logo.
>but muh 911

where did i say it wasn't about the movies made in america that made the prices for them higher in america.

Not that I necessarily disagree, but what car is worth paying $30k for, then? Where do any of you draw the line? For some, if you like a car enough, the price becomes irrelevant.

What made them "rare" is the fact they didn't sell when new. The only thing that differentiates it from an RX7 or 300ZX is the fact it was the hero car of a very popular movie.

You can't be serious. People really, seriously believe because of one movie that's controlled the market of 10,000+ cars for 16 years? Does no one realize the RX-7 was in every movie for the first three? Prominently featured each time? Has roughly the same production figures in America? But ohh no, that's not true.

30k?
they are 15-20k dollarydoos why are they so expensive where you live?

They are great cars. Top notch build quality, beefy I6, looks good, good size and performance for a GT of that era.

You people are fucking morons. Prices are cheaper elsewhere because they don't have the restrictive import law so they can get the most abundant amount from Japan for the lowest prices. US has to wait another year and be forced to deal with the same 10,000 they've had for the past 19 years.

so is that one, but you say it like it's a bad thing

>hurrrrrrr why would somebody pay 30 grand+ for a toyota supra???

Because the want one and thats the market rate? Do you people not know how supply and demand works? If the supply is fixed and demand increases then the price will increase as well.

I'll be making well over 100k a year in the next 4-5 years and Im going to buy a supra turbo. I don't care if it costs me 60 grand. I want one because I've always wanted one so I'm going to buy it.

>How can someone be older than 12 and spend 30k+ for this??
>supra owners were 11 year olds that had 30k on them

>10000+ cars
They sold roughly 4000 turbo sticks. RX7s have weird engines few can work on.
>Prominently featured each time
Less than 10 minutes in between 3 movies

>the price becomes irrelevant
That's a huge red flag, though, and a sure sign that the seller has you by the balls.

The FD and 350Z are the poster cars of Tokyo Drift. Inb4 VeilSide, but it's still an RX-7. Dom's RX-7 in the first one is famous. Orange Julius' RX-7 in the second is among the 3-4 most popular cars in the movie.

Maybe. It's an argument of supply vs demand, I suppose.

>It's an argument of supply vs demand
Sure, that's a factor, but not even the biggest one.
Take the Fiero with bodykit. There's only a couple hundred of those in the world, yet you could still pick one up for around $30K. Meanwhile, a Porsche that they literally made tens of thousands (if not hundreds of thousands) of, is worth more.

>Meanwhile, a Porsche that they literally made tens of thousands (if not hundreds of thousands) of, is worth more.
maybe because they are actually worth that? cars are worth what people would pay for them.

>ass mad idiots pissed they cant afford a highly sought after car

>maybe because they are actually worth that?

I think this is it. A car is worth what you're willing to pay for it. People aren't willing to pay much more than $20k for an FD. They're willing to pay more for a Supra. Whatever the reasons may be is pure opinion.

>I fell for the meme and now i'm pissed because i didn't know they were cheap as fuck everywhere else

Except it isn't the market rate, merican prices are just fucking retarded

>implying i wouldnt sell my soul for both of them

>it isn't the market rate, but it's the market rate

its childish in the worst possible way.

My photo, while childish, is a well put together car while what you posted is a render of a riced out R34 GT-R

fuck off back to deviant art you stupid cuck

Damn, these look sexy as hell without the spoiler.

Ah made me chuckle

That's tough shit.
Souls are a glut right now, and you'll need a friend to co-sign if you want anything resembling a shitty german car.

>mfw in 20 years we’ll become like the boomers we despise so much currently
It’s already happening with gen Y and their 90s hero cars like the Supra. Soon we to will be shilling out stupid amounts of shekels for the shitboxes we lusted after. “B-but muh Evo 9 or E46 M3, that’s different!” No it’s not, every generation wants to relive their glory days using nostalgia boner inducing relics of the past

you're blind user

this is how I feel about new GTRs

it's a racerboi car that cost ~150k, who the fuck is buying these things new? is their main demographic literally 20 year old saudi princes?

ahaha

Ok, first of all, chill out - the GT-R starts at $99,990 + $1700 destination charge. Most that are sold are probably around this price and not $180k like the NISMO.

Secondly, I would say that most people who buy the GT-R are probably younger dudes in their late 20's to 30's who are in some kind of middle/upper middle management position in Finance or Tech who make well into 6 figures a year but are not like brand new Ferrari F12 Berlinetta or brand new Lamorghini Aventador rich. However, they are the kind of guys who are into tuning and still want to embarass dudes driving Ferrari's and Aventadors and totally dominate the lesser Maserati's, Jaguar's, Aston's, AMG's, etc.

So, they figure "Yo this year $100k on a GT-R, in a year or two I'll throw $20k at AMS Performancing and get 1000hp out of this thing and fucking kill everything on the road."

>embarass dudes driving Ferrari's and Aventadors

Because they stopped making japanese tuner cars in the early 2000s.

It is kinda funny but also sad that cars that were the crown of the japanese car culture 10 to 20 years ago are still the same today.

This could be okay but there are no replacements. Japanese sport cars will die out, there will be nothing for the new generations.

No one from any country has made much of anything good since 2002-2005. I can count maybe 10 overall in the world in the past 10 years.

Except being pigfat and ugly

The reason we still don't have any is because the nips are afraid their shitty economy will bomb again so they're playing it safe. It's like they can only sell these cars in japan for whatever stupid fucking reason

Here's your (You), you edgy little rascal, you.

...

I'd rather have a Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo all day.

>the Supra was the most well made and was made with good, quality parts all around
Why does this read like a middle school essay struggling to meet the word count

I've owned a Z32. In my top 3, but I'd still prefer a Supra. All personal preference, though.

...

oh look another STEM major who thinks he's worth a shit

Not that guy, but:

>assumptions

>find a supra turbo online with 5,600 original miles

>it's auto

reeeeeeeeeeEEEEEEEEEE

>holy shit, this car is amazing
>auto

Every time.

The Toyota Triplets are cute!
CUTE!

i dont like them myself but ive seen supra guys that restore them to perfection and really treat them with respect.

its the 12yos that rice them out or make it look like a fast and furious car.

this is the difference between genuinely loving a car and only thinking you like it cos it was in a shitty normie meme movie.

This. I genuinely love the Supra, and I just hate it that I can't say that I like it without a million "car dudes" jumping down my throat telling me why I only like it because of a movie and I have a wrong opinion.

Let me love what I love.

pink miater

must suck
you should just have a window sticker saying fuck fast and furious just to save you time defending you car.

probably still better than someone who actually likes the ae86 and not cos of initial D

Not a bad point. Hadn't considered that. Thank you.

>its the 12yos that rice them out or make it look like a fast and furious car.

I didn't know 12 year could afford $20k cars? to be honest its just bad taste. Some people have it regardless of race/age/gender

they may look like adults but they are 12 on the inside

>implying you don't want one

oh lol.

Reminds me of that guy on instagram that is trying to replicate all the FnF cars IRL.

instagram.com/dom_dub/

cancerous as fuck

I agree, never understood why people like the styling of this car, it looks like a fucking hotwheels car.
It's so tasteless and immature.

this
>paying loadsa monee for some rusted, slow piece of shit past its prime.

I wonder if they have a lot full of GTR's they cant sell new, I mean, how many of these guys
even exist.

Most cars are way overvalued. There was a thread about hyundai cars being kept hidden because they couldnt sell them at the asking price, and making zero dollars was better than selling them cheaper.

Maybe the kia rio or the fiesta are the only cars being sold for what they're actually worth, like 11k each brand new.

...

So by your logic any car older than 5 years is worthless. Where will you be when no more new cars exist?

TRUTH

My rich neighbor has a GTR black edition he's married with teenage kids.

Dead

Dont count your chickens b4 they cluck, future wagecuck

Bragging about your salary is sad

you should see the muscleshit culture seeing how much you like overpriced shit

>how can people possibly like something I don't like??
>there must be something wrong with them

Post literally made me lol

They are older than 12 so they can afford to spend 30k on a car...

This whole thread can just be summed up as a non-understanding of what the word "subjective" means.

>subjective
I think you're forgetting that word has no meaning here.
Everyone knows that DCT is better than manual, Porsches are the best thing ever made, and Ferraris and Lambos suck (but not because no one here can afford them).

>tfw i own the last good WRX ever made but want to sell it for something with more build potential like a FD3
>realize this is a horrible idea

wat do?

cuz I was baked when typing it and I don't bother to double check my posts when I'm posting on Veeky Forums of all places

Check my dubs.
