Honestly, if Machias and Patiry somehow become a real pairing, it'd allow to fill in so many blank spots in his potential as a character. CS2 hints that he has a degree of street smarts, having grown up in the Ost district and all, but it doesn't really go anywhere with it.

The weapon seems to be named after his ancestor. I think they just didn't want to use berserker so they tweaked it a little but the meaning is still the same.
