Palla and Est are +Spd/-Def, Catria's the opposite. I mainly use Palla and Catria, Est I honestly just promoted for the sake of completion.
They exist as enemy generics. Who knows, maybe we might get an event alt with one someday.

Well, they've gotten more useful now, with the introduction of Tempest, a monthly event. But they do half damage ([healer's atk - enemy res]/2) in exchange for the ability to heal, and they tank your score in arena, which used to be where the majority of your effort went, so no one used them outside of leveling up new units.
Speaking of new units, if you want to level one up after you're further in the game, the usual set is: a healer, a dancer, a buffer or someone who can kill enemies if shit starts going downhill, and the unit you're trying to train. Just an odd piece of advice you'll figure out later.

Inheritance means Skill Inheritance, and you'll get the hang of it quick. Note that you can't inherit certain skills on certain unit types. For example, healers can't inherit any offensive special attacks, like your Tiki's Sol.
