It gets it up to speed and maintains that speed around curves well enough. The lack of safety features, the engine sound and feel, and the thin metal makes it feel much faster than it is. I prefer the experience to my 350 hp modern car which makes 0-120 mph feel like a leisurely cruise. Power is fun, but low weight and simplicity is more fun to me. If you have a chance, try driving one. It's not the perfect or best car, but shit makes sense when you get in it for the first time.

2800lbs is what my ae86 coupe would weigh if it had 2-3 mama junes in the car with me. Also i got my ae86 as an sr5 for 1300$ and i bought a celica supra axle, a manual rack , gts gas tank and fuel lines, and i made some coilovers for crazy cheap.

And your car weighs the same as my festiva with 2-3 mama junes in the back, doesn't mean my festiva is better tho.

The 86 hatch and coupe have the right proportions and little indeterminate styling cues to appeal to those who like 80s style sports cars. The face is a bit shorter, the roofline is a bit different, etc compared to an escort, and people who like the 86 hatches prefer those little differences.
