Your mates a poofta

Why are manual commodores so rare? and Falcons too. Are we just as dumb as Americlaps when it comes to driving?

Never late in a 308

>F

Dad just bought a VF SSV Redline Wagon. It's fucking amazing.

Your dad has good taste user.

Sup maloo user, how's life treating you?

I'd post my VE but I'm being a faggot phone poster.

I was going to call you an idiot, but damn. I thought there would have been more.
I changed it to 8cyl only, but only 1/3 were manual. I expected most of the V8s to be manual.

Dad's LPG base model, still a fun car to drive.

>only local brand does nothing but rebadge Opel/vauxhalls AKA the shittiest cars in all of Europe
the absolute fucking state of Australia

W1 with no front bar. Took it yesterday at work.

Good my nig. Working and shit. Yeah I'm usually restricted to phone posting because I'm almost always up north.

Can I hang with you guys?

This place here in Colorado modifies Pontiacs with parts from Australia to make utes and it's dope asf. I saw a ute one day and I nearly pottied my drawers. Apparently the only place in the country that does that is walking distance from my house. Nifty.

my series 2 vy ss

>tfw manuel vz
Feels good man

I'd post a photo of it but I'm at work, so have an old photo of my trip computer instead.

Not mine but, my granddads Olympic Edition VT.
>"she's worth a thousand dollars trade in, but she's worth fifty thousand to me."

He had a Jupiter Green HQ Kingswood that my dad got bogged and fucked the reverse gear but it was okay because the driveway went through the block to two streets. After that he bought a sky blue VL. All this I didn't know until just recently. Fucken top notch bloke but

>alloytec v6
sell it before 150,000km uleh, the timing chains cost more to replace than the car is probably worth.

I'm aware of that impending wallet-wrecker, but I only do about 15000km a year (probs less now that I've moved house, my commute has gone from 45 minutes to 5) so I've got plenty of time to prepare for it.

I've heard some people say 150,000, others 200,000. I'm guessing it's somewhere in between?

i sold mine at 190,000km and it was still fine so hard to say really, seen others have problems at 120,000

>tfw you will never own a W1

One recently sold for $269,000
news.com.au/technology/innovation/motoring/motoring-news/australias-fastest-car-the-hsv-gtsr-w1-sells-for-269000-at-auction/news-story/2d0d0c4aaed587ad2df40485ffb88835

There's 8 on car sales, but $300k is a fuck load of money.

Fucking baby boomers.
the car literally came out this year and they are trying to almost double the price of them.
and people will say they don't do that "i know wat i got" bullshit.

You could buy one of less than 50 gtr xu-1 toranas that are left for that price and a 69 GTS monaro, probably a mint HQ ute as well.
who the fuck are they kidding?

I get that only 300 were made and they're the best Commodore ever built, but doubling the price is crazy. I think the RRP was $170k, so I could understand selling it for ~$200k.
Have any been crashed yet?

>buy ss commodore
>spend 20-30k on mods
>have a car that will rape a w1
why would anyone pay this?

There's an appeal to buying a factory car as powerful as the W1. Plus I bet some people used it as a tax write-off somehow.

The appeal only seems to be to baby boomers, anyone with a brain knows a HSV is just a commodore with different suspension, a body kit and maybe a shit supercharger slapped on.

RIP Stayan Holdens, youre now Eurocuckshit

so like every holden ever before the VE commodore?

Do you think the VX is Euro because theres a Vauxhall variant too?

Do you think the VX isnt an opel omega?
because it is.

this is going to hurt mate, even the old Monaros are opels.
admitted holden pretty much rebuilt every opel they ever got their hands on from the ground up but still.

>buy ve ss
>dump $30k walkinshaw package in it
>faster than a v8sc
The W1 is stupidly fucking overpriced

As much as I love them, almost bought an LJ GTR as my first car, who are they kidding with any of those prices.

this, you can make those cars 1000hp for about 20k.

you wouldn't pay 30k for a car that will only go up in price?
it's not like they will ever become cheaper.

Heh, the GTR I almost bought was 7k, 18 or so years ago but I'm glad I didn't I crashed the fuck out of my first car and I don't think I would have forgiven myself for that.
And no, I'm not a fan of the idea of people buying cars for investment purposes and hiding them away so no kids can see them these days and this is the only reason the values are so inflated.

who ever said you have to hide it away?
buy it, dd it, not like the engines are hard or expensive to replace it is a 186 red engine.

For 30k there are many other options I'd choose first desu, as I said I like them but they were cheap new, never actually good technically and the prices these days are having a lend. You can buy a Bolwell Mk7 for similar money.

For reference.

>file name's LJ Torana
>pic is an LC

google is a fun place is it not?

Imagine trying to dd that though.

If you think about it, the muscle cars that were cheap in the 80's and 90's are like the cars from the 2000's that are cheap now.

i wonder if they will also skyrocket in price.

My question for your picture would be why do that to an X2?

It's pretty much the same car as the Torana underneath, just a Holden red with a Muncie and either a Salisbury or a Banjo from memory.

Some fords up in this bitch

Guess it could be worse, Google thinks it's a Chevrolet Impala.

>why do that to an X2?
Good question, although I'd imagine when this was viable, an X2 wouldn't have been worth any more than a regular Premier, which at the time was also worth nothing.
Also, could be wrong but from memory there was also a small amount of Ford V8 powered Nagaris as well.

Yeah the Nagari replaced the MK7, there was also a few V8 MK7's and other stuff like Rover V8's and shit, not sure what the Nagaris are worth though.

Yeah I just meant an X2 had mods which allowed it to be a better NA car, you're going to scrap most of a stock red to turbo it and IMO it's better to mod a shitter than a rare beasty which is a pretty cool car. Father in law had one as a young fella working in the mines.

>Dat red interior

>help australian car manufacturing
>nah cunt
>millions on poofta vote for something everyone already agrees on
>YEAH ALRIGHT

fucking libs

That's really cool

Worst

>Dem two spoke wheels

>help the heavily unionised industry that refused to innovate and extorted the government with their hand out

Get fucked

Used to own one of these, only difference being mine had kidney style mags on it. It was an understeering POS and I loved it, Wish I'd taken photos of it but this was pre digital camera and photos cost money.

...

Didn't matter if they innovated or not user, they were fucked, the fact that businesses could buy a Japanese ute and operate it for less than a Commodore or Falcon due to FBT meant Aus fleet cars were dead and therefore so were the companies that built them.

...

.
.
aids

Only functional cars please mate.

christ what an absolute heap of shit

Needs chev badge. Especially if its V6.

Lucky fucking bastard that is amazing

Pic related is my shitbox. Really need to get some mates around to help me move the windscreen

Here's my wb kingswood. It's a bit rough at the moment as it's been sitting for a few years while I was at uni, but it's packing vk commodore Brock running gear and runs like a beast other than the front brakes sticking when it's warm. Think it might be a fucked master cylinder.
How close is it, m8?

Need to sort out the hand brake cables on the left hand side, sort out a hydraulic clutch because it has that stupid fucking dog's leg linkage that I lost bits of, windows. That's about it though

>hydraulic clutch
Why tho?

Because I can't be fucked dropping the entire box when I can just rig a piston to actuate it

So it's a cable clutch to which you're going to fit a hydraulic piston?

Nah they're a lever clutch, no cable.

Isn't the travel of the stock pivot a bit long for a hydraulic arrangement? Been a while since I've fucked with one but

Really? The wbs are definitely cable

Fairymuff, never fucked with a WB
>Bugger me it's hard to find a decent picture of the arrangement

Fuckin lol. Time for a 5 speed, my man

it has a chevy badge

>literally my dream car
Heres the issue: they sould out before they went on sale, hsv pre-sold all of them to employees or mates or people who somehow had the contacts to pre-order one.
Checked, and fuck you faggot

Btw this is OP here, sorry it took me so long, i thought this thread 404 like an hour after i posted it.

They're actually pretty interesting to use, you get an initial heaviness but then the lever kicks in and the the clutch gets light and it takes a bit to get used to as you release the clutch the reverse happens and it tries to kick the clutch pedal back at you a bit.

I have a TC gemmi, its a fun little gokart.

it looks like pic related but with the usual "speed holes" in the floor and boot

When I bought it, it was swapped to a Celica 5-speed w-58. Unfortunately the clutch lever was changed to work off a push type arrangement rather than a pull so I can't go with a cable

Ahh yeah right, what box you running now? or is it still the sillycar?

>3800 V6
Retards should've stuck with skyline engine tbqh

It had it's issues in the VL body, the radiator being lower than the head meant airlocks had disastrous results.

So?
These issues could have been addressed with the VN platform.

Saw one of their newer ute conversions down here in san Diego and nearly creamed my pants.
I want one so badly

Was the radiator any higher in the VN? The 3.8 sat lower in the engine bay than the RB.

...

Oh God, what happened?

its just the way these are designed to hold crap

nice chevette

There was literally nothing wrong with the Ecotec engines.

Yeah it is. If I were to drop the box I'd swap an R154 or something. It's has bench seats because it was body swapped to a less rusty body and the original seats were some rx7 seats on rails which were pretty ratty.
I know the R154 has a bunch of different shifter positions and there's an aftermarket for it. The T56 probably would have had the shifter come out under the seat
