Sooo.. What to do early on in a Wood Elf campaign?

Total War: Portugal

>causes terror

Dark elves/Skaven gameplay when?

SAXON

FRANKS!

Either
>farm rebels until you have beefy lords & take the other elf settlements
>go and kick the shit out of that 1 faction your at war with and take all their stuff for amber (to build up for confed)
You can also farm rebels for a bit before you do the latter if you want stronger lords / armies.

*Blocks your path*

how many Chaos stacks do you guys usually roll with?

BRAVE GRANITES TO A MAN

How about venturing out far with Orions army and killing Greenskins?

Anyone have a link to the updated dlcs? I literally can not find any. Trying to use creampie but I can't actually find the dlc files themselves.

>random faggots half the world away that got dragged into the war through alliances want 3k+ gold for a peace treaty just because i'm rich

The RoR is wielding a greatsword if you look close enough.

Will Throgg usurp Durthu as the strongest LL?

His stats seems pretty awesome, and if TT's anything to go by he'll have insane regen to top it off.

desu I completed the chaos campaign for the most part with only a single stack and just used another one to mop up minor settlements.

Got my shit kicked in slightly when I tried to take out fully confederated wood elves after destroying the whole of humanity though.

post screenshots my dudes

I miss old /twg/ memes

So, all of you big guys like to play campaigns with 4tpy?

Personally, I can't stand seeing the Sillykids or Egypt blasted to oblivion by 230 BC, it just hurts my autism

I wouldn't venture that far, you'll have to trespass a lot to get there as well.

If you're worried about killing Bretonnians know that wood elves fairly regularly go on wild hunts and absolutely murder a bunch of bretonnians.

Taking coastal settlements is a good idea as well as welves can get insane income from ports.

>Gook
;_;

Well fuck I just entered into non-aggression pact with Bordelaux and Carcassone

Out of leo and grace which one would you fuck in a back alley and which one would you take to meet your parents?

I miss him ;_;

Go fuck up Skarsnik and Karak Norn and claim the Southern Grey Mountains.

F I M I R

>where modders are relied upon for fixing
I can bet that he is nostalgic Med2fag who don't see how fucking broken this game still is after 10 years of modding.

Me too user.

>leo
who

...

What do you guys do after destroying the realm you start in as beastmen? And how the fuck are you supposed to afford a hero's upkeep early on?

Did that drawfag ever do the Morathi lewds?

meme

Oh yeah? Well YOU'RE a meme!

...

They're not a meme, mum!!

*walks around ruining my formation*

See if you can get military access and then take Tilea or Estalia, though if you go for Estalia then keep an army in that area since it's a spawn point for beastmen.

Apparently so, they're up to 2.2 now. Don't know if they're still selling underwear tho

Rood

It got released ages ago

I always presumed that axe was for utility purposes judging by the sword & lance only route the Bret nobles take.

Why can't I build this? I have the main settlement tier, I have the funds, why?

hurrdurr nvm i should go to sleep

penultimate warning friend

YOU'RE THE MEME
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

i'm glad you realized you were retarded.

Maybe. There's art of them holding hammers and morning stars, so maybe axes aren't wholly impossible.

yeah wel was it good? I only remember /twg/ sperging out over the beta or whatever that was released and was broken

Bud

That's the weird thing. I read somewhere that Bretonnian knights only use swords & lances for combat yet that's both improbable and contradictory to lots of pictures.

I didn't really enjoy it, and I played a ton of EB1

When starting a new campaign in Warhammer, is it best to get my armies up to a 20 stack with all the lower tier dudes, and then work on replacing them with better troops gradually?

ya

this EB or EBII? looks comfy

The actual Duke of Brionne, Theodoric is famous for using a great battleaxe to fight.

>No Norsca qts

needs more mutated women in the lore

Thats true for all TW games

Its one of the biggest flaws in the series, every fight is a 20v20.

man I was literally just thinking this exact same thing

I blame the godawful army system they introduced in rome 2

Didnt used to be like that. In medieval you would rarely reach 20/20, but fight many more battles with 8 v 12 or 4 v 7 etc etc.

Part of the reason I always love manually fighting the first battle in campaigns, because it's not a boring 20v20 battle with late game elite units

>wanting women in your armies
What are you, gay?

I blame CA being pussies not updating their formula and making it so simplistic.

You literally build a 20 stack, then cycle out a unit type for a new one as you unlock it. There is zero cost/benefit analysis or thought required by the player. The campaign is designed so it literally plays itself for you. You start with swords and replace them with GS, spears to halberds, crossbows to guns, ect. Only in very late game do you get to elite troops with high enough costs to actually have to force you to think about taking another elite or taking 2+ normal units.

I honestly think we should start with all units unlocked (or should unlock them all very quickly), forcing the player to think about the benefit of taking an elite over a group of generic troops depending on what and who you are fighting. Then give AI empires a modifier for a tendency towards elite armies or mass swarms which you can see in the diplomacy screen so the player actually has to think for once about who they are fighting.

They dont even let us mod it at all so we cant fix it

Warhammer would literally be better if armies were limited to 10 units on the campaign, and the AI didnt blob every single army they had. Imagine actually having multiple fronts, defensively and offensively where you maneuvered certain types of armies to engage certain types of enemy armies for your advantage (an army dedicated for anti large, or anti infantry, ect)

I wish they made chaff useful outside MP

the campaign has to play itself because half the fun rests on having a decent AI opponent.

TW games are largely about making your own fun, or playing on a high enough difficulty that your constantly at war and have to struggle a bit to manage your campaign.

>TW games are largely about making your own fun
Because CA failed at making the campaigns challenging or engaging.

About to start a FOTS campaign but I haven't played in about 2 years. What mods should I put on it?

>Imagine actually having multiple fronts, defensively and offensively where you maneuvered certain types of armies to engage certain types of enemy armies for your advantage (an army dedicated for anti large, or anti infantry, ect)
but that is what I have?

You realise if you want difficult wars on multiple fronts you can just declare war on factions to open them up & tailor your army to fight said faction?

I understand the Master of Strategy mod got a FOTS release, you should try that.

No, you dont. Because you cant sustain 4+ armies in Warhammer without it being extremely late game. It is also entirely nonviable and stupid to do since piecemeal war is how the game is designed.

The one that adds shotguns

I would like to see them move towards a supply point system for units as a soft army limit cap rather than a hard 20 unit limit, but I can see why they stick with 20 units since it's easier to balance and lets them account for how well the game is going to run in a given scenario, since total war games have always been demanding to run once more than two armies get on the field

you easily can, people are complaining that their armies are too elite and that you can't have too many armies...

and its making me seriously question the logic of that complaint.

splitting armies and using more chaff to have a wider frontage is okay.

total war is a sandbox, so if you play it the same way every time of course you'll be disappointed. you have to force yourself out of your comfort zone. nothing CA can do will make you do that.

>I would like to see them move towards a supply point system for units
Any change would be good at this point

Only if you play the game like an autist.

A lot of people
>never make defensive or military alliances because they get pulled into wars
>rush lightening strike with every general and build the most elite stack possible
>turtle for half the campaign until big enemy factions burn themselves out
and then complain that the campaign is boring. The funnest TW campaigns are the difficult ones so you should be making things harder for yourself.

>you easily can
Stopped reading. No replies for you.

Lying to save face is just pathetic.

...

>being this small minded

alright keep complaining on Veeky Forums instead of getting good.

>play the game well
>its boring because of it
Thats CA faults, not the players. Xcom is hard even when you play well, so are many many other games, thats a system thats designed well.

TW is never hard ever if you play well, thats a serious fucking flaw.

Yes I agree that if you go out and limit yourself you can scrape together a better game. Limiting you units, generals, downloading harder mods, declaring war on everyone, ripping out your eyes and cutting off your fingers to make the campaign harder is better, but that doesn't change the fact CA is terrible at making good campaigns.

>No, you dont. Because you cant sustain 4+ armies in Warhammer without it being extremely late game.
Yes you fucking can.

You're basically complaining
>games too easy, i just crush the enemy AI with my elite army!

Whereas in my campaigns I don't spam elite units, have multiple stacks early on because of this, have multiple wars going on and actually fight challenging battles nearly every turn because I'm not just spamming elites to win.

>It is also entirely nonviable and stupid to do since piecemeal war is how the game is designed.
>a fun way of playing the game is stupid
wasn't designed for piecemeal war either you retard, it's a fucking sandbox game.

Not him but post a picture of you with 4+ armies

That's not playing the game well you dipshit, that's being an autistic powergamer and not understanding how to have fun in a sandbox game.

I just basically listed all the things that can make the game boring and trivial and mean that an absolute retard can win a legendary campaign, doesn't have anything to do with being good at it.

I wonder why they went for Alberic, when much more famous Knights exist

>playing the game well is not playing the game well!
We're done here

Or even Tancred, specialised in fighting undead

1. surround city with rocks like this
2. becomes impenetrable
3. profit

Alberic is a great idea considering warhammer 2.

They gave him naval bonuses so as to let him more easily be the bretonnian lord you can take if you want to go to the new world.

which is neat to me.

Although i was expecting Tancred II, with some sort of light or anti-undead type bonus.

I can imagine you as a general sitting beside Hannibal saying
>We should dismount our cav and send them in naked! It will be more fun if its hard!
Then you get stepped on by an elephant for being a retarded faggot.

...

>how to have fun in a sandbox game.
We would all have more fun if TW games had better campaigns. You have serious autism.
