/acg/ in the old days was very hostile, rude, arrogant, almost like the people you meet on Club Tortimer. Schism into the outside chat (primarily skype) groups led to drama that returned to the general. It was a cycle of dumbness, with lots of intolerance in regards to the spectrum of players. Certain communities were shut out of social activities. Others were terrified of interacting with specific users, in fear of having their town vandalized.

There were a specific few who upheld the general kindness that you'd expect to find. They were always willing to help others, even the rude and unworthy. There was also shared-town. Once cheating became a thing in 2014, it really soured the general. By 2015 it was an epidemic, and most of the general was dying thanks also to the influx in trolling. HHD barely brought any new people. Only two people even played AF. Welcome Amiibo was a good transfusion, and helped bring back a lot of people, until like holiday season.

Pokemon is partially to blame for the bleeding (October 2013, November 2014, November 2016) of the /acg/ population. A lot left for /vp/, and never came back. I myself left back to /lgbt/ after growing tired with the repeated trolling that plagued this thread. As well as the fact I was in the process of marrying my husband. Janitors also targeted certain users who called out the troublemakers, serving them frequent and unjust bans. The thread was persistently barraged with zoophilia/porn/kinks, slurs, and every kind of nonsense you'd find elsewhere. Thankfully, all those problematic people are gone. This place has gone back to being a safe space for enjoying AC, without being persecuted for "being adults who happens to have an addiction to a children's game". AC is more than that!

/acg/ is definitely not in the 2013 active days, but it is on a good road to recovery. And certainly better in regards to having a community that isn't soured with social filth.

What's the largest Animal Crossing forum/community/dedicated site? The best one is /acg/ obviously, but what about the largest?

Last AC i played has been Wild World, and i fucking loved it (every time i think about the years passed and the genuine affection toward my villagers i get teary eyed and nostalgic).
If i were to play New Life now, would it be worth it or will a new AC for Switch come out too son for me to enjoy a full year of gameplay at least? (i know the game is basically a year long minimum).
Also, can i obtain every item in the game trough trading with others? Or have there been some items no longer obtainable even by trading?

They probably won't have a new AC out before a year is up from this point. They haven't even announced one for the switch yet. There's a bunch of items that you can't get, but the amount in minimal anyways. If it really bothers you you can hack, but there's not much fun in that.

To give a short answer.
The AC team is working on a mobile game, so we'd be lucky to hear that they even announce AC Switch by the end of next year.
You can catalog items just by picking them up, and then you can drop them again and people generally have a lot of bells, so yeah, you can get most items like that.
For items that aren't you can't order there's the welcome amiibo update that allows you to buy certain furniture from the RVs of special animals by spending MEOW coupons.

Those very few items i can't obtain, could i in theory obtain them if an user sold it or traded it? Or are there items which can't even be picked up except by the original owner? I'm an autistic collectionist, even if it takes a literal year i'd like the POSSIBILITY of getting every item in the game eventually.
I guess the items you can buy with these coupons aren't all the not-avialable with order, right? There must be items like Amiibo's scanning not available with coupons no? And again, can trading with other in theory allow me to get everything?

Basically NL added an update called welcome amiibo. With it there's an RV campsite.
There you'll find one of the special NPCs like Joan, Wendell, Pavé and the like there who have items in their RV that can be ordered using MEOW coupons, which can be earned by completing daily/weekly tasks or scanning an amiibo once per day. These items are both normal items and unordable items that are usually earned through special events or DLC/region exclusive stuff.
If you scan an amiibo figure then that NPC will also enter the campsite for that day and they'll have some special furniture too. You can also buy unique items, such as the ones available in Animal Crossing Happy Home Academy, from Harvey who sells to two items each day for Meow coupons.
Trading? I'd be very hard to find people who'll give you everything you want, especially un-orderable stuff. So don't count on it. But people will be willing to give you orderable stuff for free. Here, at least.
You should look up the Welcome Amiibo update.

Coupon stuff can be bought in campsite/RVs and it doesn't have to be your town (though it will cost 3 instead of 5 coupons)
We have anons around the world so you can take part in some region specific events outside your home country, someone recently had some of us over for Tanabata.
Past time-limited, foreign, unorderable DLC items aren't necessarily an issue... so long as you're fine with getting a friendly neighbourhood hackerbro to help out

If you get +50 weeds, Leif shows up in town. Talk to him to start up Weeding Day lite. Like with Weeding Day, once all the weeds are gone, you get one of four different flower furnitures and any visitor who helped get any of the other group not including the four you'd get as local.

NL is actually pretty perfect because you will have plenty of 15 minute to 1 hour down times but nott much longer.

first year of college? sorry, but likely your majors are going to be pushing you to study more than having relax time at all. but i don't know what you are majoring in/studying for at all so i can't really make that a good guess.

just do an hour or two of NL a day with some peeps here and focus on doing you stuff the rest of the day.

This'll be my second year and while I haven't had the chance to play on a 3ds until now, I can safely say the first year should be a breeze to schedule in gaming. I wouldn't worry about any of that till you finish undergraduate study. But that may all be dependent on your major I suppose.

I started playing NL in my second year of my PhD. It was great for while I was studying for my comprehensive exams--I had banned myself from all other games, but NL you can pick up and play for like half an hour and not be worried.
