Thinking of starting a new run in EU4 as a Native American, but with a difference. Instead of sealing off the coasts, I want to conquer only the Great Lakes states of the US (Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Ohio) and play tall, pumping lots of excess mana into Cahokia and Kaskasia (farmland provinces). I may conquer Euro colonised territory, but will carve it into buffer clients later where able.
What would be some good ideas to be taking for this, or starting nations? For idea groups, I know economic is essential, and Quantity complements it with the Economic-Quantity policy. I can probably ignore religious/humanist because of the low province count, but I might go Protestant at some point. As for nations, Shawnee starts with unique ideas, a strong position and 2 provinces, but Illini can migrate straight to farmland, and Potawatomi and Fox aren't much further. Iroquois is also nearby and has unique ideas if I feel like adding upstate NY to this miniblob, while I could alternatively cheese a migration with Cherokee and use them too, because of their fort bonus idea.

True, but it also makes the estates incredibly powerful, which then makes the negative penalties from both revoking and giving them privileges seriously damaging. I think that the revolt privilege gives about +8 revolt for every province they hold if they go above 50% influence, which is insane if you're playing a nation with 30% religious unity like mine. I had a lot of issues with estates in my last Persia game, but they did give me two times my manpower cap when I demanded it everytime so there's that as well
