Yes, but once you've died you can be summoned into the past before you lived or into the future after you died. Scathach becomes a hero when the world is destroyed and then can be summoned backwards in time by the power of the grail. This is always how it's worked since we first learned about EMIYA back in Unlimited Blade Works.
