This is literally the car you always wanted >RWD >sub 15k starting >NA engine or turbo for being a boostfag >50/50 weight distro >NA miata weight >Last seen at the Tokyo Auto Show
There's no way it will be sub 15k, or any close to that
Brayden Bennett
It's fucking ugly and 50/50 is a meme
Luis Brown
>sub 15k starting
Anyways if it comes out people will complain its not fast enough to beat a mustang of the same year during a highway pull.
Leo Jones
Another pic-related. If you want a dream sports car, Euro cars are the way to go Audi RS5, $$$ af, but you could as much power as you want on it without needing to replace anything else. Audi RS4 2008, with a $20k kit it’ll give you 800hp Japanese cars are nice and cheap, but desperately need to be modified to keep up with their Euro counterparts, not even for power, but for comfort too.
Nicholas Torres
>50/50 is a meme A cheap balanced car is great, I dont know why you would prefer a bias that would normally be in the front Or they probably wont because no one says that about any mr2 or miata
Cameron Mitchell
it's never gonna be sold in the US so I don't give a rats ass
Alexander Reyes
pic related
Joseph White
Why doesn't Japan go the American route and put a 3UR-FE, a trucc engine, in a tiny car?
Aaron Watson
Just put a decent engine in a pinto
Aiden Garcia
if you released a sub 15k turbo RWD car there would be thousands of dead teenagers every grad season when it comes time for stupid boomers to buy their kids a new car as a present
Ayden Baker
Looks kinda dorky
At least in GT Sport its represented as a better handling car than the ND Miata, but that might be because its pre-production
Nathan Flores
Looks like a classic racing car with the huge grill.
Blake Wilson
the 3ur is old and heavy
Jackson Roberts
> isn't 4x4 > unibody construction > no roof rack
lame
Matthew Johnson
But it's gonna be slow and it's ugly.
Nolan White
piss off falcunt
we coming for u
Liam Richardson
>never gonna come to america >never gonna be anywhere near 15k if it does I'm 100% certain the US will never see this car which fucking sucks. We stopped getting nice things and now we just get the garbage scraps
Ryan Hughes
This think is as likely to be sold in the US as the S1000
Jackson Carter
>We stopped getting nice things and now we just get the garbage scraps USA gets what the market wants unfortunately the us is filled with boomers and soccer mom retards who want shiny SUVs or electric turds
Evan Bailey
>10 years ago the OP pic was a gt86/frs
Levi Campbell
Looking for a Subaru?
Brandon Rivera
i think its charming, a sports car that doesnt take itself seriously like the NA Miata, at least visually.
Jackson Martinez
>sub 15k starting Dream on, this is 20k minimum. A good chassis isn't cheap.
Aaron Young
I know thats what fucking sucks is that there are enthusiasts here but there are more fat pieces of shit and bloated soccer mom's who only want the biggest fucking four wheeled monster they can get their hands on, so the rest of us have to pray to the gods above just to get a simple fucking rwd roadster and hatch. Fun car enthusiasts are fucking doomed here. I hate this country
Jose Campbell
>Car enthusiasts only like asthmatic small shitboxes
Wow
Adrian Gutierrez
this is a corolla 4pot, not a ultra high compression boxer
specifically aimed to be cheaper than the 86/BRZ
i'm in the market for an NA but if this came out I would actually buy one; for the price of most used meme cars, you could get a car with everything an enthusiast dreams of, plus airbags and a warranty?
My question for Veeky Forums is this: Do you drive a meme/fun car? How much has it cost you? How close is it to 15k?
The only bitching I could imagine is "I want 4 seats", then buy a fucking BRZ
Christian Brooks
ultimately, sports cars are a rounding error for companies like Toyota
word of mouth is king, dealers don't know jack shit about anything we would want to buy, and e-rep starts in shitholes like Veeky Forums
Dude this is a 130hp piece of shit, stop acting like it's some great car. This would've been cool 30 years ago.
Kayden Wood
>My question for Veeky Forums is this: Do you drive a meme/fun car? How much has it cost you? How close is it to 15k? I drive an 86 and it's cost me about as much. I'd buy the SFR in a heartbeat, because it's as close to perfection I can get in a new car with warranty and spare parts galore.
Owen Morris
cool video but brah. >e-rep starts in shitholes like Veeky Forums >basically beg for Giuletta >FCA says no, theres no market >Honda S660! >No there's no market >Focus RS >here you can have this overpriced trash that we are going to cancel in one year anyway Dude us the Ameritards will never get anything that resembles any type of fun it was a fucking miracle we got the 86/BRZ twins and even that might be getting the plugged pulled. Like i said before this country is doomed to never experience fun again
Michael Martinez
When I'm running the ethnostate, I will make a sub-2400lb RWD hatchback with a manual transmission and popup headlights, and sell it for under $10k new.
Xavier Powell
...
Zachary Roberts
no you won't.
James Bell
The SFR is dead. It's done. They haven't brought it to an auto show in a year and have had no updates or new info since 2015. Give up.
Hudson Jackson
>people want new sports cars >at the same time they only buy used sports cars Really activates my almonds
Xavier Torres
Yes I will.
I'll also be replacing thots with genetically engineered catgirls for domestic ownership.
Gavin Richardson
Shit you have my vote
Robert Mitchell
Sounds awful.
Dominic Hughes
Normies buy NEW cars for their kids? I was born into the wrong family
Jayden Ward
Yeah. Pretty crazy, right? You were born in to the the right family if you got a crappy hand me down or had to buy your own first shitbox or whatever.
Cheap fast cars are for after you learn some humility.
Jace Cruz
Sour grapes
Xavier Murphy
>do you want cool car? >heck yea! >fuck you thanks toyota
Henry Allen
i dont really get people who post before even looking at the OP
theres a link showing a refreshed design from barely a month ago
right? anything old is automatically worse for the average person
Brayden Flores
My first car was wrecked by a family friend and had a salvage title. I had to fix it and register it before i got to drive it. Put 40k miles on it before i sent it to the junkyard and got a decent econobox
Landon Jones
Do people think a nearly year old rendering means anything? That is no where near a new render and has nothing to do with Toyota.
Christopher Ross
Looks like a Mini Cooper to me.
Alexander Jackson
those headlights...really makes u think
i guess they want a sportscar to test out the TNGA platform
Jason Cook
>barely a month ago >post made January 2017 >SFR wasnt even at the Tokyo auto like it was promised Shits dead. Toyota didnt even bring the fucking Supra or GTI all they brought was some trashy autonomous cars. The time for fun is forever gone
Kevin Anderson
I drive a 13 Miata, it was just under 13.5, and besides oil changes, it hasn't cost me a thing on top.
Lincoln Hernandez
>a car can't be fun to drive unless it goes 200mph
Jose Kelly
>lightweight na rwd not cool >what is miata
Connor Howard
this years Tokyo Auto show was pretty shitty, agreed. if we're ever going to see this car it'll be when they reveal the Supra
this video seems to show an SFR driving autonomously? but they show pics of an AE86?
Julian Walker
I doubt they will ever reveal that shit, they probably only keep around "spy" pics to keep up the hype for toyota but really they arent making shit. Wtf happened at this years auto show why was it such aids I watched that video too it created more questions, i don't want the SFR to be able to drive itself
Joshua Rivera
It's ugly as fuck
Charles Wood
Fun doesn't mean anything, I can have fun with a 80 hp fwd Daihatsu. FFS the AE86 was making 130hp in the 80's.
No one thinks a Miata is cool, your image is literally how most people respond to a Miata.
Daniel Wood
I would love an SFR. I'd want the fastest possible one, but I would baby the hell out of it. As in not daily and keep in garage, but I'd drive the hell out of it on the weekends.
I hate how Toyota keeps teasing shit and never delivering.
I mean except the 86 I love it too. But they had that hybrid 86 concept I was also drooling over, where the hell is that now? I want to love Toyota so bad, but they keep making ugly as fuck crossovers and ugly boring sedans.
Joseph Mitchell
>why is no one talking about it not available in normal countries
I love it though. It's nice that gt86 won't be alone anymore in its fun cheap sports segment. For a while i've been wondering if "natural", designed on purpose cheap sports cars will even pull through into the future, or will they die in favor of yaris r wrc, fiesta rs, and other big trunk average joe cars repurposed to deliver more fun. Not like fiesta is bad, hot hatches are super cool, it's just that i haven't heard about many new+cheap sports cars recently.
everyone thinks miata is cool, Veeky Forums is just using it as their contrarian shitpost opinion. every board has this kind of opinion to use, and for Veeky Forums it just happened to be miata. get a miata and run around your place, you'll see how ordinary people react to it.
Colton Wood
the GR-HV was always a concept model, a clear tell was the fact appearance, it looked like a body kit for an 86
agreed on the teasing though
Chase Barnes
>No one thinks a Miata is cool >best selling roadster ever utterly incorrect
Daniel Ward
the only time people react to my mx5 is when its facing the opposite way in traffic cause lol hektic oil on all rounabouts. otherwise its the womens midlife crisis car.
Camden Harris
>do you drive a meme/fun car? Drive a MK7 Golf GTI, it's both.
Cost me $18k used with 15k miles on the clock. Dunno how that is price-wise in the US but where I'm from it was a steal.
It's now at 30k miles and so far it's been an absolute joy with no issues. I had a Scirocco TDI previously which I put around 70k miles on with 0 issues apart from the AC condenser getting punctured by a small rock that must have got picked up by the car in front or something. VW replaced it on goodwill though. I'm not expecting any issues with the GTI either. They get a lot of hate here but American VW's are very different from European VW's I think.
Jason Wright
But can it be manual?
Bentley Rodriguez
No because thats no profitable enough.
Jackson White
already been done, KA24DE
Anthony Ortiz
So was the BRZ/86
If it does go into production Veeky Forums will shit all over it, mark my words.
Liam Hill
it wont though so dont worry about it
Jace Howard
duh, its a 6 spd
Easton Cook
Not quite. I told my coworkers I was thinking a out a miata and they called it a girl's car
Brody Green
>sub $15k holy shit I might actually be able to afford this as a brokefag college student any chance this thing will be at the Detroit auto show? Or do concept cars never show up there?
Levi Jenkins
more like 0spd get it? cause it doesnt exist you looneytoon
Sebastian Martinez
we're on a lebanese childrens puppet theater forum
we've moved past caring what other people think, I think. else we'd all buy used Nustangs and call it a day
Tyler Collins
>50/50 is a meme >muh v8 landbarge
Adrian Morgan
>sub 15k price tag that's going to be a really hard sell to the bean counters, because it's going to have to be lacking >power mirrors >power windows >power seats >any sound system aside from an aux jack, basic ass radio, and a some speakers >little if any sound insulation, making it hell on the highway
due to all the safety, mpg and design requirements, making something that cheap is really fucking hard and they're hard to sell because normies want all the stuff listed above and car enthusiasts very rarely buy new, even with decent options in their price range, they just buy used stuff
Justin Richardson
Well I think it's possible if 1) every conceivable cost is spread and 2) they market the hell out of the driving "purity" Hell they should get rid of as much carpet as possible to giving the feeling of driving in a stripped out track machine. Plenty of dumbasses with more money than brain cells would lap it up before they realize what they're getting into
Brody Turner
>bringing the S-FR to global markets at a starting price under $15,000—and, yes, that potentially could include the United States. the Lord be praised
>Fun doesn't mean anything benchracer begone
Henry Hill
>remove power everything >save 100kg >save money so wheres the downside? apart from lazy retards being upset
Jacob Hernandez
again >they're hard to sell because normies want all the stuff listed above the problem is making a business case to make a whole new car which is essentially an economy car without much of the stuff economy car buyers want
Carter Torres
>Sour grapes Hardly. Got the family shitbox for a $1 and promptly proceeded to learn how to take it apart and put it back together. It was a fantastic car to learn on and beat on with friends, learn to drive hard just to keep up with traffic, etc.
Dominic Gomez
15k buys a nice s2000
Brody Baker
>new vs used
Thomas Perry
henlo 1 ticket to ethnostate plz
Mason Walker
Nobody's talking about it because if it ever went into production, /pol/ will buy one, paint it green and turn it into "Le Pepe Mobile".
Matthew Adams
just buy a miata or mr2
Grayson Wilson
what kind of retarded non-sequitur is this
William Reed
i think hes talking about mustangs
Adrian Davis
hold on did you say 15k at most?
because fuck. I mean, I'm down with buying the nd miata later in my life being 19 now but shit if this is 15k then its an absolute steal
Daniel Adams
ugly
Grayson Brooks
>best selling roadster ever false
Camden Kelly
Not quite related, but I need to ask. Mazda made the dorito meme engine, but it offered no real differences when introduced and they put it in everything, including a truck. The REPU is the first foray of the rotary in the states, so could you argue that the RXes use "truck engines"?
Adam Johnson
so yeah basically no knowledge car guy but i cant shake how much im digging this
Jaxson Lewis
xD activates my almonds
Luis Watson
>do you want a cool car >yeah dude >how much would you pay for it? >5k on the used market lmao >okay bye
Ethan Watson
>do you want cool car? >heck yea! >here you go, gt86 >b-but it has no turbo and no 2jz/4age and it's not inline engine and it costs more than a dollar and performs badly in benchracing and and and
good thing gt86 seems to be successful, they wouldn't even think about releasing even more extreme (two seats, small, less practical overall) s-fr otherwise. i still hope for the bright future where i drive s-fr, but i'll surely get gt86 otherwise.
imagine particiapting casual s-fr sunday cups
Charles Richardson
>imagine particiapting casual s-fr sunday cups pic unrelated of course, since that would be endlessly amazing. more like this
David Mitchell
except i have no friends so no fun sfr cups
Brayden Taylor
hello yes please sir but can i have the hatchback version so my doggo can chillout in the back
Alexander Ortiz
It looks like a girl accessoire.
Now that the TT and Miata look edgy and more aggressive everyone will laugh at you for driving the new faggot mobile.
Gavin Jackson
fuck, I'd totally grab one for $15k, even with that tiny engine but retarded dealer markups would probably ruin it
