I'm a fucking poorfag but I want to race

I'm a fucking poorfag but I want to race.
There's just no way I can get a better job being this young and I make barely over minimum wage. I want to go track racing, compete in some events, or try rallying but it's just so frustrating that all of it seems so unattainable for me. It's giving me the worst blue balls imaginable. I've had enough of videogames, I need the real thing, it feels as if though my life depends on it.
Is there a way for me to get into motorsport even on an amateur level if I'm poor? Country is Poland.

Hustle for sponsors like every other bush league driver, you whiny fuck.

Where do I even begin? Just get my car and go to a track day?

You've never even driven at a track day? You don't even know if you're a good driver?
Holy fuck.
Give up now.

Either do some amateur racing with what you have and get noticed or apply for sponsorship.

karting

This is why scandi folkracing is so brilliant. It let's people engage in a bit of casual hoonanism without breaking their bank account or getting a ticket.

...

Yeah I haven't been to a track day yet. But I will. My excuse is that the nearest track is over an hour away and everybody I know cares fuck all about cars or racing. I think I've finally grown the balls to do this thing. With or without anyone's help or encouragement. I would really appreciate and and all advice though.
>give up now
Fuck you

Alright, seems reasonable. The hard part is actually finding some events within 100 kilometers of this bumfuck nowhere where I live. But I think there might be some events every now and then at a track which is an hour away.
And to apply for a sponsorship I'm assuming I need to be somewhat known already right? I don't think anyone would sponsor some no-name beginner. Unless I'm wrong.

Sounds wonderful. Poland is super anal about regulations and licenses when it comes to racing. You can't even get into the lowest of the lowest events without splashing out a year's worth of salary on making the car conform to the out-the-ass safety regulations.

I don't know how it works in Poland but there are definitely some Motorsportclubs in your area that you can join or atleast ask for for advise. And there's probably something like a polish automobile club that can probably advise you on some racing events and how to get your racing licenses.

Seems like a hassle but it is my best bet probably. Thanks for the advice user.

racing can be cheap

I rallycrossed a 250 dollar zx2 escort 6 times and drove home every time
Sold it for 75 too.

Just around cones rallycross not wrc rallycross

Jesus fucking christ OP. Go get a trade job.

Racing is not a sport for poor people.

But before you get to that let us address the elephant in the room. If you haven't driven a car in anger you need to slow the fuck down here. Your first step is to find out if you even enjoy driving fast. There is a nearly complete chance you are going to suck and it is going to scare the shit out of you. If you have the fortitude to push yourself through the thousands of hours needed to get good at it and the terrifying experiences you are going to have along the way... then you might discover you have a talent for it. Then you get to come to terms with the fact there are thousands of other people like you out there many of which are far better and still manage to not be nearly good enough to get paid to do it.
Honestly, unless you have something a little fucked up in you that craves scaring the shit out of yourself from time to time, you shouldn't bother with this 'sport'. It, in no way, is like a video game but with better graphics. You will have to confront over and over again how willing you are to injure or kill yourself to get good at it. It all comes down to how badly do you want to beat the competition. How much are you willing to risk.
Yeah there are a lot of guys out there that haven't gone this deep but they are fragile. They have gotten desensitized to the common incidents that almost get out of hand but don't. And they forget they are taking those risks. When something really goes wrong they will hang up the helmet for good, even if they aren't hurt because it scare the fuck out of them. There is no point in setting yourself up for that.

I see your point. I think it's good then that I'm rather desensitized to seeing blood and horrible injury. Looking at open fractures and mangled limbs in person is no problem for me. Not sure about experiencing any of those though. I think I'll just go to a track day event or to and find out if I enjoy racing enough to justify the downsides. By the way, miroshi seems to be doing pretty well at events and he doesn't strike me as the affluent kind of person.

you're a fag. You don't have what it takes to race saying shit like "There's just no way I can get a better job being this young"

I was a fucking general manager of a construction company at 19 making $20/hr.

Fix your god damn mindset first.

The lads on Top Gear went rally racing for a few thousand bucks

Don't mean to be arrogant but I'm really not gonna take shit from a tripfag. Besides, I'm at uni now, working towards an applied mathematics degree. Not everyone grows up having the same opportunities, how about you consider that fact before writing some stupid pointless shit. Literally the least helpful post in this thread.

I remember that episode. It was really interesting.

Did everyone miss this? Karting is pretty cheap (at the lower levels). Even those indoor rental karts are a lot of fun. Beyond that oval racing is probably the next cheapest, if you find a no contact championship to take part in. You could look for lawnmower racing, it's fun and fairly cheap because a lot of the races are endurance events so you can spread the cost over 3-4 drivers.

Time Trial events are very cheap to enter, I think slaloms are the most popular in Europe but there will probably be hill climbs, sprints and conefagging too. Whether you consider this "racing" is up to you.

It was total bullshit by the way. The cars cost a couple of thousand pounds each but they didn't include license fees, transport, race entry, safety equipment, hotels/camping costs or any of the tools required to build those cars. A season of rallycross would easily total over £10,000 without even considering money spent on trying to go faster.

All of this is really cool! I'm gonna have to look into it. Maybe time trials and slaloms are good beginner level events. I'll have to seek out some events nearby.

Aww, yeah that's pretty pricey.

Most professional drivers aren't that good.
Unlike OP they had privileged upbringing with daddy paying for karts, track cars etc. Then it's a case of who you know as to whether you get a drive in a professional series.

It's a very insular community with lots of snobs and people with more money than sense.

look up nearby kart tracks. call them up and come along to practice sessions. i dunno if poland has a national kart racing society but look into entry level races that you can hire karts for. if it is possible to start at a shifter-kart level then definitely start there.
it's not the cheapest (it's still cheap as far as racing goes) but it is one of the best starting points. it's popular so you will come across a lot of drivers and it's competitive, karting track time is usually very cheap and there are a lot of kart tracks around - getting practice is very important. tires are cheap. engine repairs are cheap. fuel and other consumables are cheap, easy to transport all you gear in a trailer all across the country/continent to visit new tracks.

costs starting up, here in states if you get decent stuff $5000-$7k is reasonable, including licencing, decent trailer, shifter kart, equipment and insurance

if you think karts are boring you havent been on a good kart before.

Your BA in applied aka retard maths will not help you accumulate money and race because youll still be a moron but with debts now

Put your trip back on

renting? where i live her cost $40 for a whole day on track, exclude car rent desu.

Sorry for replying so late. Yeah my I know a girl whose boyfriend works at a karting circuit and he already set me up with one session last summer. I'm thinking I could hit them up this summer and get into some karting events.

>Not everyone grows up having the same opportunities

You privileged little shit, you're going to uni. I had to work shitty jobs for 7 years before I could afford to go back to a shitty local community college.

You're still skirting around the problem too. The reason you can't get into racing legitimately isn't the world, it's fuckin' you.

>he's "privileged"
>because you're the kind of lazy fuck who works for years but never gets promoted to a decent position
Not that user, but during my childhood, I squatted in a house without basic utilities like power or water with my mother. The world is certainly stacked against poor people, especially Academia, but even compared to someone who is impoverished, you're an underachiever. You should be working a shitty job for 3 years at most so you can afford to not starve while you network and learn some skill in your small amounts of free time that'll get you a better job.

You're forgetting that I don't live in America. Higher education in Poland is free but your grades need to be immaculate to get into uni. You think I didn't have to make effort? Think again asshole. My family is not rich or privileged by any stretch of imagination.

What are the best karts?

You didn’t earn that position you faggot.

So, as someone who was in your position and lost my dream due to the "you're too old" meme, there are side hustles you can do to help yourself out.

There are auctions in every state. Usually, these are privately hosted by businesses. But sometimes they are police held. Either way, check them all out. Police ones are best, though. Find cars that are $2k below kbb. Fix up any obvious issues, do not insure it, just register it as a "does not run but need title." Shouldn't spend more than $400 on all paperwork and fees. Spend no more than $500 fixing it up. Sell it for $500 above kbb and don't settle for anything less than kbb. Should be able to make $1k minimum per flip. Mind the laws. If you flip more than 3 cars in the state of Nevada per year, you need a dealers license. Don't know what it is in other states.

Uber is shit work, but I make about $400 extra a month by working roughly 6-8 extra days a month. Just enough to afford gas, food, and lodging to most events I go to.

If you are autistic, you can buy and sell shit on ebay. I don't know how to do this very well so I don't have advice. I just know you have to have a really fucked up autistic mentality for this routine. Find chinese sold goods that are almost ending, buy for a ridiculous prices, resell in the states for 2000% mark up. Again, I know someone who does this and makes like $5k a month doing it. Don't know exactly how many hours he commits, and I do know he makes a lot of calls daily to make sure his goods are sold. But, it seems pretty easy once you get a good routine going. If you could find a steady buyer of certain products, it would be pretty easy to flip $600 worth of merchandise.

Same thing with craigslist.

Other than that, I have no more tips on how to make some extra cash. Choose a sport you can afford. Go carts < Track < Drift < rally/any dirt sport. Anything from drift on, get a truck and trailer, no matter how good you think you are as a driver.

Where do you live op?

What century did you grow up in where they allowed a 19 year old to be a general manager of a construction facility? No seriously. Go ahead. Elaborate your childhood so we can all point and laugh at the dumb fuck who thinks it's still 1974.

Unless you were hired in some 3rd world country... Then I would understand.

Nope, you can't race if you are poor, forget it if you don't want to become a lot poorer.

Can you afford to completely destroy your car in a racing accident? If your answer is different than "yes, I can afford to lose the whole car right this moment" then put your dreams aside for when you will have a better job, more money, more time, more cars or a combination of those.

Racing is expensive, even if you just want to consider tires and fuel, which is something you will use a lot of if you want to race somewhat regularly. Then you have safety equipment, which is required on pretty much any Motorsports short of autocross and is expensive, then you have driver equipment, then you need tools and spare parts and then you will have to repair damages and then a million of other things that will cost you money.

Stick to track days, learn to drive first, then think about racing in a few years. Track days are cheaper and have almost no requirements from you or your car, just remember to ask yourself again if you can afford to damage or destroy the car. Also rent some karts and have fun with those, so you don't even have to risk your car.

Sorry to crush your dreams, but racing is not a cheap hobby, it never was and never will.

Kys right now you cunt. Reading your shit feels like a lobotomy

do what i did:
speed on public roads and pay the cops instead of the track officials

step 1: get motorbike licence
step 2: ride around on cheap shit bike for a few months
step 3: realize that even your shit heap is more exciting than any car you've ever driven
step 4: buy a cheap sports bike and arrive at work every day with a shit grin on your face
step 5: get ded (optional)

Watch this whole series on racing with a beater.

This is actually pretty good advice. In a group, you can pick roads and have people stand at each end taking turns, watching for cops. Cost of seat time is drastically cheaper.

OP still there?

Yeah I'm here. I live in Poland.

Dang, was going to offer to help but I'm in the US.

where? I want to learn to drive manual but i never will and I'm crying

This is pretty accurate.

Also motorcycles.
